Joshua Johnson67 said:Richard Fowler68—if you haven't seen them yet, go watch movies like Aragami, Versus, Audition, Marebito, down to Hell, Three, Extremes, or Ab-normal beauty. They’re just a few of the damn good ones, and most of them are pretty recent...

Just a random list...
Just an oasis of the zombies...
Brothers Grimm...
Leprechaun IV... honestly, where do they even find the budget for this? It’s just more of the same mindless garbage. Another sequel that nobody actually asked for. Just total trash...
MST3K - Legend of the Dinosaur
MST3K - the robot Versus the Aztec Mummy.avi
Zombie Versus Ninja. The matchup is ridiculous... but I can't stop thinking about it. You have one side that's just mindless, rotting meat driven by instinct, and the other is pure, disciplined lethality. One mistake and the ninja is dead. But if the ninja misses that first strike... it's over. It’s a mess...
Manos... the hands of fate.
Chopping Mall. Just... what was that? Total mess.
insecticidal
Same old story. Same old crap...

That’s just a small fraction of the movies sitting on my hard drive waiting for me to actually find the time to watch them. Not to mention the two million VHS tapes gathering dust on my shelf, all filled with those old-school 80s horror flicks... you know, the ones with the cheap yellow subtitles... 😁)

I checked out Versus, Audition, Visitor Q, and Ichi the Killer like you suggested... and honestly? None of them did it for me. Just didn't hit the mark at all. Thanks for the recommendation, though... 🙏Honestly, props to you, but I’m just done. I can't force myself to sit through stuff that clearly isn't my vibe anymore. Maybe once I finally grow up... though I'm only 32... 😍I might eventually hit that phase where I actually start liking these kinds of movies, and if that happens, trust me, I’ll be watching them with total enjoyment. But until then... zombie Versus ninja, here I come... 😁

that's just a tiny slice of the movies sitting on my hard drive waiting for me to finally find some free time to dig through them. and don't even get me started on the two huge boxes of 80s horror VHS tapes gathering dust on my shelf (you know, the ones with those cheesy yellow subtitles 😁)

I've checked out stuff from Miike like Versus, Audition, Visitor Q, and Ichi the Killer, and honestly? None of it really clicked for me. Look, I appreciate the recommendation, 🙏, seriously, I do, but I'm just not feeling it anymore... I can't force myself to sit through something that clearly isn't my vibe. Maybe one day when I finally grow up (I'm only 32 😍), I'll hit a phase where that kind of stuff actually appeals to me, and if that happens, trust me, I'll dive right in with total enthusiasm. But until then... zombie versus ninja, here I come 😁

Personally, I'm hooked on pretty much everything, from Japanese flicks to zombies to those killer snails...🤣

Approaching Wrong Turn under the guise of a legitimate horror film is a fundamental error in judgment from the very start; honestly, it’s a stretch to even classify this piece as a serious thriller when you consider the sheer chaos of it all. You have Eliza Duskh wandering through the plot—which is fine, I suppose—but then you're hit with these incredibly over-the-top, heavily made-up Cannibals, and then there's the constant, gratuitous dismemberment of human bodies... just a total mess of gore and nonsense that ultimately serves to derail whatever meager tension the film tries to build. It's just quite unpleasant, really.

driftingmason7 said:Treating Wrong Turn as a horror movie is a mistake from the get-go. It’s hard to take this one as even a decent thriller, but hey, it stars Eliza Duskh—yum—plus you’ve got cannibals with great makeup—wow—body parts flying everywhere—wow—and all sorts of other nonsense that just ruins the film... yuck.

So, you have a taste for garbage, then?
Give me a break. Watching a terrible movie just because Eliza Duskh is in it? I like Sandra Bullock, sure, but I’m not sitting through her entire filmography, much less Mission: Impossible. 🤮 Or Michael Caine, whom I adore, but certainly not that Mission: Impossible mess. Or Robert de Niro—I strictly avoid those Fowler types. Just analizirati that series and that fan crap.
If you want cannibals, stick to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise, Cannibal Holocaust, Hannibal, or The Silence of the Lambs. Or maybe Parents, some zombie flicks, or that drama about survivors in the Alps eating the dead. Just stay away from Wrong Turn. "Well-made" cannibals? Please. 👎
Body horror? You think that's the only film with those scenes? There's The Thing, Day of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead, various cult classics, Conan, and plenty of others, all crafted with significantly more skill.

The truth is, the movie is trash because the plot is stolen, the writing is lazy, the acting is subpar, the cannibals are forgettable, and it relies on cheap gore to appeal to kids looking for mindless carnage. I'd rather watch House of 1000 Corpses a hundred times over than sit through Wrong Turn again... 🙂

Craving dismemberment, blood, and pure violence? This is the real deal, unlike that lukewarm garbage known as Wrong Turn.

Those images are quite striking; I suspect I shall find myself sitting through most of those films eventually, given that my experience with Dawn of the Dead was nothing short of superb

Heh, finally a movie where we actually agree, whether you're talking about the remake or the original. 👍
If you're looking for more quality picks like this, just head over to my signed reviews on BrainDead. You won't regret it. Plenty of stills there, too.

If you happen to be searching for more high-quality cinema of this ilk, you need look no further than my signed reviews over at BrainDead; I can assure you that you won't regret the detour. Plus, there's an abundance of stills included.

I'll definitely give it a watch, though I was actually intending to ask if it's truly worth sitting through Waxwork—I'm undecided, really. One of my buddies is absolutely obsessed with it, but I haven't quite found the window of time to sit down and view it myself, so I figured I would rather consult someone who might actually possess some insight.
Others have suggested to me that the remake is absolute garbage, whereas the original holds up as a decent piece of work.

others told me the remake is absolute garbage, but the original is solid.

Look, here’s the deal. The original has an excellent story, Vincent Price, great music, impressive effects for its era, a compelling plot, and a decent twist. It’s a genuinely enjoyable horror classic that still holds up today... it's engaging and well-made. As for that remake? It’s just a pure slasher—a killer hunting down teenagers. The main selling points are excessive blood, sex, violence, and plenty of young people acting as cannon fodder. And then there's the incredibly idiotic Paris Hilton, who proved in her fifteen minutes of screen time that she can't act. Whoever told you the remake is trash was right; it barely even qualifies as a remake. They should be hung by their balls for it. And I wouldn't call the original just "solid"... it's much more than that.

So, if you want a horror classic, watch the original. If you just want a mindless slasher filled with kills, go with the remake. Your choice. But obviously, I recommend the original... better music, better atmosphere, more interesting, more original, and best of all, no obnoxious teenagers. 😁
You should also make sure to watch Waxwork or Monster Club...

I suppose I should track down an original copy, because frankly, I have zero interest in watching some hollowed-out remake—especially one where Paris Hilton is part of the cast. Good grief. Though, if my memory serves, I believe I heard that Chad Michael Murray is involved, and he’s actually quite decent enough.

Yeah, the only scene before the kill is her smoking with her boyfriend—which she seems to be an expert at, judging by that one adult film 😂...

crimsonmoose3 said:Precisely. Her sole moment of respite before the killing begins involves nothing more than smoking with her boyfriend—though, if one takes that adult film 😂 as any sort of metric, she certainly seems to excel at that particular pastime.

To borrow a phrase from an old acquaintance of mine, she’s primarily recognized for her role in that film One Night in Paris.
