So, here’s the deal... I just downloaded an image from Hearst onto my computer, and now I’m stuck trying to figure out how to actually put that picture into this little reply box. Please don't laugh at me! I’m seriously struggling here. I tried the whole copy-and-paste thing, but nothing happens—it’s just a standard JPEG file. Could someone please walk me through this step-by-step? I promise, once I get the hang of it, I'll be a total pro at navigating this computer stuff!

I've laid it all out right here. 🙂
So, the image is a .jpeg, right?
Don't hesitate to ask if any part of it seems confusing. 🙂

vividfalcon14 said:You just head over to somewhere like Imgur, hit browse to upload your image, and then grab the link located under the IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards section to paste into your forum post. It's really that straightforward. 🙂

So, this is what I've highlighted in the picture here;

I’m not entirely sure if I’ve picked the right thread for this—my apologies if I have!—but I’m having some real trouble with my images. Lately, whenever I drop in links that are supposed to, well, turn into actual pictures (you know, so the image actually shows up in the post), nothing happens. Instead of the photo, I just get a plain old dead link staring back at me. I can't tell if the issue lies with the hosting sites like Imgur or others, or if there's something glitchy going on with the forum itself. Does anyone know what might be causing this? Any insight would be much appreciated!

Can someone please walk me through how to get a PDF page onto this forum?
I tried converting it to a JPEG first to just upload it, but it’s not working at all. What gives?

Well,
First, take a quick look at the bottom left of the thread to see if using BBCode is permitted; if it isn't, you won't be able to display images directly, leaving you with nothing but raw links. If BBCode is allowed, just follow the steps I laid out here. 🙂

You'll first need to ensure you can open the file using Adobe Photoshop. Once you have it open, you can proceed exactly as I described here. 🙂

The easiest way is probably just to upload that PDF to a free file-hosting site—something like Dropbox—and then just drop the link here on the forum.

edit: looks like I'm a bit late to the party, but actually, there might be a better way to handle this.

First off, you’ve gotta be able to open that image in Adobe Photoshop. If it opens without any issues, just follow what I here laid out. 🙂

I can open images pretty much anywhere, but for some reason, it won't let me upload this one to the post. I'll give it a shot using Dropbox, but honestly, I still don't get why this is happening...😕

Nobody uses RapidShare anymore. Seriously. I have no idea what exactly you think you don't know or what you're even looking for here. I had to learn everything from scratch just like everyone else, and I haven't run into a single issue since.
Look, just give me some actual details. What exactly is eating at you? What’s the end goal here? Give it to me straight.

Alright, here's the deal:
I'm trying to get this one page from a PDF onto a post,
but I tried uploading it straight as an image and—nothing.
Then I thought, okay, let's convert it to a JPEG and try again. Nope, still nothing.
Finally, I tried uploading it through Dropbox and—boom, there it goes.
But honestly? I still don't get why the other ways failed...

Man, that's easy. If you just want to link the whole page, go up to the address bar. Take this one, for example: http://www.americanforum.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=19124860. Just left-click, highlight it blue, right-click to copy, then come back to your post, right-click, and paste. There's your link. If you're typing and need a different page, just minimize this window, head back to Firefox, open the forum page you need, grab that URL, and do the same thing again.

If you're looking for a specific post, every single one has its own ID number. Just copy that number and paste it into your reply.
As for images... I don't know what kind of files you're talking about or where you're pulling them from. Check out this link; there should be enough info there so I don't have to write a novel. You'll figure it out eventually.

If you hit another wall, just ask.

Good afternoon. I have a quick question regarding some baby gear I'm trying to sell on the classifieds. I’ve gone through the motions of organizing everything into a Picasa album and uploading it, but now I’m stuck. I can't figure out how to actually display those photos for everyone else online. I tried using "post reply," then "edit image," where I pasted the URL provided, but it isn't working. To test it, I sent a private message to myself 🙂, and all I see is a tiny white square with a red X—basically the universal icon for a broken image link. What am I doing wrong? Any advice would be greatly appreciated 🙂!!
