The movie is great.
For its era, the special effects are top-tier.
Hey, man above, what’s your problem with Smith?

I already know some people are going to jump in with the usual whining about how Americans get special treatment or how the "slimies" were dealt with too easily ;D and all that, but for me, Independence Day is a classic. That scene where the ship looms over Washington, D.C. is iconic—not to mention when 😁Will Smith flies out of the house. It was the biggest movie of 1996, and I bet plenty of people remember the massive crowds hitting theaters back then. Honestly, even though it was made 10 years ago, the visual effects still hold up against today's biggest blockbusters.
Anyway, it's a bummer it looks like they gave up on making ID 2.
Total garbage movie. Full of plot holes and incredibly shallow. If you leave your brain in a jar of formalin beforehand, maybe the beginning is somewhat interesting.

But now I'm 10 years older and more mature, and I realize the movie is stupid as hell... but honestly, I don't even care. It's still cool!
I'm with you on that one 👍
Back when I was 16 about ten years ago, it totally worked for me, but today? Man, it makes me want to head West and never look back. Still, it can be pretty fun and relaxing in its own dumb way

Oh, please: who wouldn't adore such a witty and unforgettable character? 😬

Absolutely! It’s not even about personal preference at this point, because the film is just a pure masterpiece through and through!
I’ve lost count, but I must have watched it at least 20 times 😬 and of course, it holds a permanent spot in my private collection
a perfect 10 👍
🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
I’ll just leave you with this—"God bless America!!!" and "America bless stormycyclist13!!!!"
...because without movies like this, the truly great ones would never get their moment to shine, and without an audience like us, the truly terrible ones wouldn't even get a look-in....

It takes a lot of effort and a real eye for detail to craft a disaster this entertaining. Independence Day never actually feels grounded in reality. Sure, maybe for the first five minutes, but as soon as we see Will Smith, you immediately know exactly who’s running the show and what kind of ride you're in for. This movie is pure spectacle, and it lets the audience know that every single second. It's got Jews, it's got gays, there's a dog, Black characters, the President, aliens, rednecks, Moors, an atomic bomb, and the Statue of Liberty. What else could you possibly want? 👍

Brilliant movie. Sure, some parts are absolutely moronic and aggressively pro-American—total overkill—but overall? It’s two hours of pure, unadulterated entertainment.
Good Morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world. And you will be launching The largest aerial battle in The history of mankind. "Mankind." That word should carry a whole new weight for everyone today. We can't let ourselves get bogged down by petty little differences anymore. We have to stand together for our shared interests. Maybe it’s just fate that today falls on the Fourth of July, and you’ll find yourselves fighting for our freedom once again... Not against tyranny, oppression, or persecution... but against total annihilation. We are fighting for our basic right to live. To simply exist. And should WE win The day , The Fourth of July will no Longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the entire world spoke up as one: "We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight!" We are going to endure! We are going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day!

I remember back when that movie was making a massive amount of money and everyone was buzzing about a sequel... the plot went something like this: before the brave nations of Earth finally conquered them, the aliens sent out a signal toward their home planet or some other vessel... eventually, humans picked up on it and realized that these visitors would be arriving in about 100 years... or something along those lines.👎

I can already imagine some people jumping in with the usual commentary about how Americans always get the favoritism, or how the "little slimy guys" get handled too easily ;D and all that, but for me, Independence Day remains a total cult classic. I especially love that scene where the ship looms over Washington, D.C. (not to mention when Will Smith flies right out of the house 😁). Honestly, even though it was made decades ago, the visual effects still hold up quite well—they wouldn't be embarrassed by today's biggest blockbusters.
It’s a bit of a shame, though, that it seems they've given up on making ID 2.
That movie has been on TV a hundred times, but it still cheers me up every single time 🙂 🙂 🙂
thank God they didn't make a new sequel 🙂
If you ignore that movie...........
TAKE AWAY THE BROADCAST LICENSE FROM RTL!!!!!!!!!!!! 😠 :2up: 🙂

I remember asking my old man if we really all celebrated Independence Day on the exact same day.😳
Young and naive, I guess.😁

Crazy reading. This movie is universal. It hits everyone. It’s different, but it hits. 🙏

For months afterward, I couldn't help but fantasize about how I might have taken down those aliens myself. 😬

What’s the problem? Use your brain. You can't just sit there watching Japanese ballet and Danish dramas all day long.
Honestly, one of the absolute dumbest scenes ever put to film: McIntosh and the viruses. Back home, people were showing up to premieres in tractors.
