The one movie I NEVER miss when it's on (just saw it on ABC) 😁
Even after 14 years, it's still my No. 1 🙂

Personally, I found Contact much more impactful. In Independence Day, the aliens looked pretty disappointing to me—they just reminded me of E.T., complete with those useless tentacles that look like they belong in a salad dressing.
Of course, you've got all that classic American propaganda too, acting like "now the whole world will be celebrating Independence Day." But the concept of them being some kind of insect colony (maybe locusts?) actually works for me; that part was spot on. I think sci-fi aliens should have life forms somewhat comparable to what we see on Earth, even if they don't look human. The way these cinematic aliens think actually mirrors how certain insect colonies operate: "We're going to devour you all, just add a little salt and pepper..."

The wildest part is that Pakistani guy with the AK when he starts making threats (1:30)... honestly, he looks ready for some gritty ground war against the greens once they finally overtake the Earth's air fleet...🤷something like a modern-day Stalingrad, street by street, house by house...😂😂😂...anyway, it's a solid 2-3 hour popcorn flick, so don't go too hard on it...

So, after all these years, I finally sat down and watched it again—and man, I couldn't even help myself, I actually teared up a bit.🙏🙏🙏🙏

It’s true... honestly, it’s so pathetic it actually makes you want to weep.😁
Back when I was just a kid, there used to be actual Law, but now? Now everything is just "whatever works."

It's a solid movie... I think I've watched it about three times now... really fun stuff—plus, Will Smith is such a great actor.

I already know how some people are going to jump in with the usual gripes about American favoritism or how the "little slimy guys" get a pass too easily ;D and all that, but for me, Independence Day is a total classic. I especially love that scene where the ship looms over Washington, D.C. (not to mention when Will Smith flies out from the house 😁). It was the biggest movie of 1996, and I’m sure plenty of people remember the massive crowds hitting the theaters back then. Honestly, even though it was made decades ago, the visual effects still hold up against today's biggest blockbusters.
Anyway, it’s a real shame it looks like they gave up on making ID 2.
..the movie is basically a mirror of modern American society. These locusts land, wreck everything, and then just move on once they're done. The whole thing is anything but a realistic Sci-Fi movie.

Good Morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world. And you will be launching The largest aerial battle in The history of mankind. "Mankind." That word should carry a whole new weight for everyone today. We can't let ourselves get bogged down by petty little differences anymore. We have to stand together for our shared interests. Maybe it’s just fate that today falls on the Fourth of July, and you’ll find yourselves fighting for our freedom once again... Not against tyranny, oppression, or persecution... but against total annihilation. We are fighting for our basic right to live. To simply exist. And should WE win The day , The Fourth of July will no Longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the entire world spoke up as one: "We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight!" We are going to endure! We are going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day!

Every single time he delivers this speech, I get goosebumps.😁 ....man, those were the days.....I remember being a little kid watching this in the theater for the first time (it was packed every single day, people were absolutely starving for this movie, just like back in the old cinema days in New York City) and I actually covered my eyes when those aliens snatched the doctor away—reminded me of that "boo!" scene from *The Fog* where they dissect him, haha.😍 ...
A cult classic in every sense of the word....when I was a kid, I wanted to be just like Will Smith, step up to one of those aliens as it crawls out of its spaceship and tell it—welcome to Earth!🙏

Hands down the best film ever made about aliens...
I still remember sitting in the theater watching it back when I was sixteen—it was at one of those old cinemas, maybe the AMC or the Regal downtown, I can't quite recall the name... something like that...😁

After a long hiatus, I finally sat down and watched it again:
It’s an absolute classic. It truly has it all—humor, action, drama, and pure suspense. 👍

Total classic. It’s got everything; the laughs, the action, the drama, the tension. 👍[/I]
The movie I've seen more times than anything else... easily 30+ times.
Absolute masterpiece, hands down. 🙏

It’s such a shame that Independence Day: Resurgence isn't even top-tier trash; I mean, the original was nothing short of legendary. 😁

Just remembered how Kolina Grabar-Kitarović told Zoran during one of those debates that it was the best movie ever—I can't even recall what Zoran said back.

I remember thinking Bio was a fun watch when it first hit theaters... but honestly, I couldn't sit through it now without feeling genuine physical discomfort. It is just absolutely saturated with clichés, cheap sentimentality, and blatant propaganda.

The film was absolute garbage from start to finish.
It’s hardly surprising that a disgrace like that drunk president would actually enjoy it.
