Armor of Gods

Has anyone else checked this movie out? I thought it was awesome, especially those high-speed chase scenes through the streets of Washington, D.C., smashing through all those market stalls downtown...
It’s been forever since I last watched this, and man, I totally forgot how much fun it actually is. 😁
By the way, does anyone remember which highway in Washington, D.C. they were jumping over at the end of that chase?

To be honest, it’s nothing special. There’s way too much "comedy" and not nearly enough action for a Jackie Chan flick. Personally, I think the sequel—Operation Condor—is much better.

Jackie actually nearly died while filming Armor of Gods. There’s a scene where he jumps from a wall onto a tree, falling about fifteen feet. You can actually see it during the end credits.

The kids were absolutely thrilled.
All I know is those opening scenes—the ones featuring the Black community—were filmed in the historic district of Princeton back when I was just a kid. 😉 😉

The absolute best part of the movie has to be when... they’re sprinting through that little town square and suddenly burst through the doors only to find themselves right in the heart of downtown Washington, D.C.... haha, what a twist! 😬

Seriously though, this film is legendary..

That food fight against those guys in black? It’s easily the most iconic fight scene in all of his movies!

They were jumping over the George Washington Bridge, using the river embankment to get from one side to the other via the bridge.

One scene was actually filmed right on my street. I still remember it vividly, even though I was only about five years old at the time. The shot lasts maybe two seconds in the movie—if that—but it’s still a funny little coincidence.

I watched that movie a long time ago. Unfortunately, I couldn't sit through the whole thing this time around—I only caught the segment where the fight with the women happens and he jumps onto the hot air balloon. 😢

Yeah... I still can't quite wrap my head around it. Apparently, they actually filmed that scene twice. They nailed it the first time, but for some reason, they decided to run it back—and that’s when things went sideways.

Well, if you actually enjoyed Armor of Gods that much, maybe give some other Jackie Chan flicks a shot. Here is my personal top 10 list:

1. Police Story
2. Project A
3. Operation Condor
4. Police Story 2: Supercop
5. Drunken Master II
6. Dragons Forever
7. Twin Dragons
8. Top Gun series (not so much about Jackie, more of an "all-star" Hollywood film)
9. Drunken Master
10. Snake in Eagle's Shadow

Honorable mentions: Enter the Dragon, Young Master, Thunderbolt, Wheels on Meals, Police Story 2, Rumble in the Bronx

Anyway, I suppose it's best to skip anything made before Drunken Master. Back then, producers seemed convinced "Jackie Chan is the next Bruce Lee," so they forced him into all these cheap, low-budget kung fu movies. Also, in my opinion, his Hollywood films are pretty much all garbage.

Man, some of them aren't bad... out of his seven Hollywood movies, four were hits: Rush Hour 1 and 2, plus Shanghai Noon and Shanghai Knights (haven't seen that last one yet).
They're even filming Rush Hour 3 soon... but I agree, the Hong Kong films are better, even though I've only actually sat through two from your list.😢

I would highly recommend watching the new Police Story... I can forgive all those other movies he made outside of Asia just because of this one. It might actually be his best work. The silly bits and all that nonsense with the fish are finally gone.
