The movie? Absolute garbage. It might be worth one watch if you find it on a rental service, $10 but paying for a theater ticket is a total waste of money.

I don't quite follow. Why should someone hating on Scary Movie automatically imply they only watch "intellectual" cinema? I actually know why: it’s much easier to dismiss critics by claiming they just don't get the humor rather than admitting that this genre might actually contain much funnier movies. For instance, Top Secret!, Airplane!, Blank pistol, or any other slapstick comedy aren't exactly smarter than Scary Movie, but damn it, I find them funny. Scary Movie isn't.

I don't get it. Why should someone dislike Scary Movie automatically mean they only watch "intellectual" cinema? I actually know why: it's much easier to dismiss critics by claiming they just don't grasp this type of humor, rather than admitting there might be much funnier movies in this genre. For instance, Top Secret!, Airplane!, Blank pistol, or any other silly comedy—none of them are smarter than Scary Movie, but honestly, I find them hilarious. Scary Movie isn't.

Look, I’m not here to discredit anyone. Every movie has its crowd, and that goes for Dark film too. Just like Three colors has its following. I’ve always found this series absolutely hilarious—like, I swear, I don't think movies could ever get any stupider than these! It's just pure, ridiculous fun. On the flip side, though, things like "Blank pistol," "The Wayans brothers' stuff," and those other schemes never really landed for me... I actually avoided them like the plague!
Look, the bottom line is that those movies make a killing at the Box Office... usually!

Some people just dig Scary Movie films across the board because they love how the jokes overlap, but Scary Movie is MUCH more than that 😁 and hey, what you see is what you get :P To be fair, the sequel was pretty shallow; they basically decided to chase a bit more love because the original was such a massive hit, but it lacked that certain metaphorical touch. In reality, about 99% of it just boiled down to shallowness, superficiality, and being downright offensive (especially regarding different movies, which doesn't even feel like parody anymore). But the Third part of dark film is great 😁 Okay, yeah, there are some shallow jokes here and there, but there's so much else that makes it awesome for me. The problem starts when people assume anything involving those big-name blondes is degrading and not worth their time (aaaaaaaghhh give me my 2 hours back!!!!!, well honey, you took them yourself, 🙄 ), when in fact, they're actually making fun of that exact concept. The Wayans brothers go overboard sometimes, but other times (and honestly, more often 😍 ) They hit the MARK! 😁

I wasn't huge on Top Secret!, but props to them for being ambitious. (I didn't love how they handled the animals...)

Airplane! also has more mediocre jokes than actually successful ones. (I liked Top Secret! better)

Blank pistol is excellent 😁

I can't stand Dude, Where's My Car. Charlie Sheen wasn't hilarious to me at all.

Basically, it sounds like you lean more toward those stereotypical parodies that poke fun at action flicks—since you seem to actually enjoy action movies—whereas teen horror isn't really your thing...

Well, Scary Movie was actually decent, even if I wasn't expecting much. If you ignore the random nudity or whatever unnecessary scenes they throw in, there are some solid bits. My favorite has to be when that idiot sticks his head out of the car and slams it right into a beehive, all while the girl is busy... well, you know... with the driver. Pure chaos.
Scary Movie 2—it’s fine, but did the girl really need that much screen time for the bathroom gag? The longer it drags on, the less funny it gets (honestly, it isn't funny at all) and just becomes awkward. Though, the parts where the giant weed tries to hook up with the guy, or the clown under the bed grabbing that... excuse me, that gay man, and then the clown running away with his... things wrapped around his neck...
What a bunch of losers—actually, it's a great flick, especially when the pilot falls out of the plane and pops out of the bushes wearing fake horns, with a Deer Hunter sign in the background. Then you hear a gunshot...
What a bunch of losers 2—watched it a hundred times. Typical amount of filler, but my favorite scene: when Rambo Sheen takes out the villain with a coconut and a bow...
Blank pistol—the first one is good, the second is less funny, and the third is just bad and boring.
Airplane!—that one didn't do anything for me...😳
If you actually want parodies, forget Scary Movie. Just go watch Mel Brooks: High Tension, Silent film, Funny side of history, Hot saddle...

So, I just saw a trailer for Scary Movie 4, and honestly? It looks absolutely brainless. Is it just me, or does every single sequel feel like it’s just racing to see how much stupider it can get? Even the third one wasn't exactly a masterpiece, but at least it had some semblance of life. Now, it feels like they’re just doubling down on the idiocy with every new release. Why do they keep making these things if the goal is just to lower the bar even further?😠 Does anyone else feel like that original sense of humor just completely evaporated after the first installment? It feels like everything from here on out has devolved into nothing more than some kind of juvenile, childish nonsense, and honestly, it makes me think they’ve just run totally out of ideas. Is there actually any substance left, or are we just watching them recycle the same tired tropes over and over again? I'm curious to hear where you all stand—what did you make of the third one, or even the rest of the series?
