The movie is a classic study in perversion—sick, yet strangely charming. I suppose they thought that because
Cabaret worked, and because David Bowie captured that whole transvestite aesthetic
from the early seventies, they could just roll up and film something similar. It seems they
hit a wall pretty quickly. What happened later on is an entirely different story altogether.
We were having a Halloween party at a local bar nearby, so I decided to play it
along with the cult following right at midnight (following screenings of Night of the Living Dead and Evil Dead II),
but the reaction was nothing short of disastrous; perhaps Americans just aren't ready for it yet.

I skimmed through your blog, and it was pretty obvious why you're defending this movie.
But, I hate to break it to you, most people don't find watching a bunch of freaks writhing around for 90 minutes particularly entertaining.

Personally, I live for sci-fi and horror. I’ve got at least 50 movies in both genres that I could watch on loop for days, so I don't get why someone who finds this freakshow unbearable would be labeled a hillbilly...

This movie is pure madness. It's perfect for New Year's parties and just blowing off steam.
It isn't some high-brow sci-fi like Star Trek or whatever other geeky stuff you're into.

Look, the movie is totally ridiculous—like, completely brainless—but it’s got that certain something that just sticks in your head and won't let go. Plus, I gotta say, Susan Sarandon is looking pretty damn sexy in this one.

I'm actually getting ready to set up a little home screening of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, so I've been doing some mindless scrolling online... when I stumble right onto this:

MTV Films and Sky Movies are planning to remake The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The network is planning a 2-hour-long remake to be based on the original screenplay, and featuring songs not included in the original. The film is anticipated to be released sometime around Halloween 2009. The creator of the original, Richard O'Brien, will not be involved; he has said that while he has no view on whether it should be remade, it does not have his blessing.

This is a bit of a saga, but honestly, it’s the only way I can explain it to you all. 🤷

So... To my massive disappointment, they just don't do screenings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show here in the States. Like Gandhi said, "Be the change you want to see in the world," and since I want to see The Rocky Horror Picture Show locally, I decided to take matters into my own hands.

This past Sunday, I shot an email over to the local AMC Theater to see if something like this could actually happen. I got a response the very next day with the info I needed. Long Story short, what I really wanted to know was how much this little joy would cost me. Renting out a theater for an hour plus the actual screening comes to $200, which works out to $500 for a two-and-a-half-hour session. Since I'm just a teenager without a steady paycheck, dropping that kind of cash once a month is a huge ask, so I started looking online to see if this makes any sense financially.

That brings me to my question: If I managed to pull off a monthly really organized live screening of Rocky (with the audience partici----pation and all that other fun stuff), how many of you would actually show up?

Please, chaps, I'm desperate.
