Yeah... I was actually thinking the exact same thing. *nods*

My initial instinct was to type out, "HAW HAW! Stupid Ukrainians! Instead of putting up actual posters in front of the movie theater, they just slapped some ugly, hand-drawn sign in their ridiculous language on the wall." Then I remembered those signs outside the SC mall and realized that, despite the common delusion that we Americans are such a historically significant and globally influential people, absolutely nobody knows our language, so I decided to shut up instead.

Even if the drawings are terrible, they certainly get the point across.

Well... that's quite striking... 😁 I suppose one could wonder where they even found the inspiration for the Kill Bill poster, though who truly knows... and now we'd probably have to hunt for some actual connection between the artwork and the film itself... I guess they did get the casting right with Brad Pitt too, in a way... 😂

It's funny, sure, but at least they copied the original poster pretty closely. These guys just make up entirely new ones. It's great...

Look, regardless of how much I lost my cool over seeing "poganin Hlopci" and Bill being such a total 🤣, I actually kind of dig this. Most movie posters are garbage anyway. If it's my only choice, I'd much rather watch some gritty, hand-drawn amateur work from some guy who spent fifty years making posters for local indie theaters than some sterile "designer" crap tested on focus groups.

But hey, I just noticed something—the poster shows three people listed under "May"
while Bad Boys says "October"... so how does that work with the way months are named in Ukraine?

The posters displayed at SC are part of a fantastic tradition that should be actively preserved. I am speaking about art as a concept here, of course, rather than those specific pieces at SC. Frankly, they are a disaster. They completely fail to capture anyone's likeness, and the whole point of cinematic portraiture is to actually convey the character's essence.

Those ones from Ukraine are even worse. It feels less like an artistic endeavor and more like some sort of social awareness campaign...

You really have to take a close look at that villain's hairstyle on The Matrix poster... and then there's that awkward, shy little smirk on the guy's face from the Men in Black 2 poster. It's just... 😁

Aside from the stuff we know for sure was Ukrainian—you know, that whole October situation—there’s a good chance a few others were just Russian knockoffs. They all have that same weird, collective vibe and that unmistakable low-budget, trashy quality. It reminds me of back in the day in Cleveland, when everyone would hang out near the Metropolitan Opera and try to sketch portraits that looked even less like the actual actors than Brad Pitt did in "Troy"...

Aside from those damn hooligans, everyone else is basically just a mouthpiece for Moscow
