I’ve seen similar questions pop up before—and I always find myself getting pulled back into them because I remember how much I struggled with this myself. My hope is that maybe, just maybe, this helps someone understand more about anxiety
as a real condition you can actually manage.

As for her telling you those were symptoms of mania... honestly, she doesn't have a clue.
It's unfortunate that you've ended up convinced the doctors are the ones in the wrong.

Anyway, how is the little one doing?

Thanks, he’s doing okay. Honestly, he's doing better than when he was stuck at the vet clinic! Still, things haven't really progressed quite as much as I’d hoped. He’ll probably be heading home in about a month, but he’s still going to be hooked up to all those monitors and dealing with a pretty subpar diet...😢

Mania... panic attacks... wtf😲....I mean, I feel totally fine until that first cup of coffee hits, you know?🤣....Now I've been sticking to green tea and honestly, it's been awesome... that stuff just chills me right out, and I could seriously drink gallons of it without a second thought... but what else could be triggering this whole mania or panic thing?.... Is it just the caffeine, or are there other drinks or foods out there that do this to people?

It’s funny how things work out; I was actually sitting there today, lost in thought about this exact thing, when I stumbled upon this thread. It’s been one of those mornings where I sit down with my coffee, feeling fine, only to have my blood sugar plummet and my blood pressure tank a few hours later. It’s quite unsettling—the tremors, the jitters, that frantic racing heart. Yet, strangely enough, if I grab a Red Bull, I don't feel any of those side effects at all. I can't quite wrap my head around it. I wonder if it's some specific additive they use? I even tried guaraná once, but that just left me feeling incredibly agitated, almost on edge enough to snap at anyone who looked at me wrong 😢. I honestly haven't the slightest clue why this happens!
To make matters worse, I’m perpetually exhausted. I've reached a point where I'm genuinely at a loss for how to actually wake myself up properly.

ironsurfer10 said:I fall into the latter category; regarding my caffeine intake, I’ve only ever experienced the bolded symptoms. Although my past symptoms felt more like mania than anxiety, here is what those look like:

Symptoms of mania can include:
-euphoria
-irritability
-rapidly cycling between euphoria and irritability
-hyperactivity
-poor concentration and being easily distracted
-insomnia or very little sleep
-overeating
-increased libido
-racing through topics during conversation—making it hard for the listener to follow
-rapid speech, making it difficult to understand what is being said
-grandiose ideas

And with Xanax, I get all of them. 🤣 🤣

Honestly, I just popped in to see who else was dying after their morning coffee. 😢

I have. It’s truly flawless—you get that coffee ritual you love so much, but without any of the usual jitters or downsides.

Oh, I totally did, just about half an hour ago🙏...man, it was incredible, tasted exactly right, smelled perfect, and I was just sitting there crushing cigarettes like a maniac... but honestly? Nothing happened, thanks for nothing, guys👍...

Man, oh man, tomorrow I am definitely bringing my thermos to work with me...🤣

You don't need full-blown mania or panic attacks to deal with anxiety. It’s just that nagging feeling of unease that anyone can experience, though for people under heavy stress, it sticks around longer—especially if they don't know what's hitting them, which just adds more panic to the mix! 😁
And hey, if you're insisting you're in perfect mental shape otherwise and it's strictly the caffeine talking, then just switch to decaf and call it a day! 👍

Adam Green2 said:Hey everyone... so here’s the deal... I used to have this whole routine down pat, you know? Just a big ol' mug of coffee in the morning before heading into the office, maybe a couple of cigarettes, and then I was good to go... oh, and a few snacks from the vending machine at work too, because hey, it makes smoking easier, right? 😁..but then things started getting weird. Every single morning, right after that first cup of joe, I’d get hit with this massive wave of anxiety, almost like a sudden bout of depression, my hands would start shaking, I’d be in a terrible mood, just totally drained—kind of like that feeling when your blood sugar crashes out of nowhere... and man, I had absolutely no clue what was causing it. I struggled through it for months, until one morning I decided to skip the coffee, and boom, it was gone... everything felt fine, no more shakes, no more bad vibes... until I’d grab a cup during my break at work and suddenly, it was back to square one... total chaos. So, I finally figured out that coffee specifically is what wrecks me, which is wild because I can drink anything else, like a Red Bull or whatever, without an issue... it's just coffee that absolutely destroys me. I actually quit drinking it about a year ago, but lately, the smell has been calling my name again. The other day at a gas station, while I was grabbing some smokes, I picked up one of those canned frappuccinos—you know, like a Starbucks thing—and what do you think happened? Yep, the same nightmare all over again... so, has anyone else here dealt with something like this? Because honestly, I really want to be able to enjoy a cup of coffee 😁, mostly because it tastes amazing and it’s just that perfect little companion for the whole day, isn't it?

Listen to what the women tell you. Trust me, from experience, just stick to decaf and you won't have any issues!!!

[QUOTE=Adam Green2;12831141]Hey everyone...here’s the deal...I used to be a normal drinker. One big mug of coffee in the morning before work, two cigarettes, and off I'd go. I quit a year ago, but lately, the smell has been pulling me back. The other day at a gas station, I grabbed some canned Mister Brown—you know, like a cappuccino—along with my cigarettes. And what happens? The same damn thing. Has anyone else dealt with something like this? Because honestly, I want my coffee back😁. It tastes too good, and it fits perfectly into my 24/7 lifestyle, you know?[/QUOTE
Your blood type is definitely O, just like mine....I read this book about how certain diets are specifically tailored to each blood type—what works and what doesn't. For Type O, black coffee is listed as a drink that basically destroys your system. It said it right there, let me quote: black coffee is to your body what putting the wrong fuel in a car engine is...so ☕👎

About a year and a few months ago, I decided to quit drinking coffee entirely after years of heavy consumption. Back when I was in college, I would drink about eight ounces of strong black coffee on an empty stomach every single morning, followed by another one or two cups in the afternoon. Eventually, I started noticing some unsettling symptoms: a sense of disorientation, general malaise, and this strange feeling of floating or dropping. I also began experiencing heightened anxiety and fear, particularly in crowded public spaces, usually about two or three hours after finishing a cup. I ended up replacing my coffee habit with a proper breakfast and chamomile tea instead. Nowadays, I feel significantly better.
Well, just the other day, I actually gave in and had a coffee after such a long hiatus, and I have to say, about two or three hours later, I experienced a complete crash—total paranoia and depression. I suppose I’ll just stick to tea after all.🙂

Oh man, you guys!!!
I honestly thought I was the only freak out there who reacts to coffee like this... So, I grabbed a cup after lunch today, and within an hour, I’m hitting all those classic symptoms that always kick in whenever I have a coffee or a cappuccino. It’s been going on for hours now... and I know it’s not stopping anytime soon; sleep is definitely out of the question tonight. I don't even think it's the caffeine itself, because I can knock back a Pepsi or a Red Bull and feel totally fine. But this? This is next level insane! I'm sweating, my heart is racing, my hands are shaking, and my stomach feels weird—almost like that gnawing hunger pang feeling. I keep snacking constantly just to try and settle down for a second. It's a disaster! People give me such weird looks when I tell them this actually happens to me...
Coffee lowers blood pressure, right? Maybe that's where I'm getting screwed, since my BP is already low to begin with. If the coffee tanks it even further, no wonder I feel like a complete wreck.

Look, caffeine isn't always my friend either, so I figured I'd pick your brains. What’s actually a decent decaf brew? I’m looking to pick some up for myself 😬

Actually, it’s quite the opposite—coffee usually raises it.

Man, those are some heavy words—acting like you’re gonna drop dead right after a cup of joe... honestly, that's just a standard reaction to caffeine. Like someone already suggested, maybe give decaf a shot instead.

Here’s another one who hasn't touched coffee in a few years...☕...I just stick to a light cappuccino now since I'm a lifelong smoker and need something to hold onto.😁
...I dealt with the exact same thing. It took me a little while to realize that coffee was actually the culprit. Honestly, I think most of us are already dealing with a bit of underlying anxiety, and then the caffeine just kicks it into overdrive... but man, once you cut out the stuff that's hurting you, life gets so much easier.

I just ended up in this mess with coffee on my own. I used to slam massive amounts of caffeine every single day, but now I’m being careful. Honestly, there are times I feel like I have to swallow a Xanax just so I can actually enjoy a cup of coffee!🤣🤣
