Oh man, I can’t even tell you how much of a weight has been lifted off my shoulders just knowing I’m not the only one going through this... I mean, I know deep down it’s probably doing me more harm than good, but honestly, when I really need to grind and get some studying done, I just reach for that garbage stuff anyway. At first, it feels absolutely incredible—everything is just 10/10, I feel totally hyperactive, completely wired and ready to tackle every single textbook on my desk, you know? But then, the second that initial rush starts to dip even just a tiny bit—boom—I am straight-up in a coma. It’s this heavy, foggy feeling in my head, my heart starts racing like crazy, I get the shakes, and I’m freezing cold, like my feet are literal blocks of ice, and I just start panicking about everything! Plus, I am so incredibly exhausted, but there’s absolutely no way I can actually fall asleep because my brain just won't shut up... Ugh, seriously, what is it about coffee that does this to us?? 🙂

And why on earth don't you just quit drinking coffee when it starts bothering you? 😕🤷

When I was pregnant, I actually told myself, "I'm switching to decaf."
🤮🤮🤮
It tasted absolutely revolting, so I gave up on the idea immediately.
There was just no point.

I’ve been back to having three or four cups a day for ages now. Honestly, I just love the taste too much.
I've ended up in a total fog more than once because I overdid it, but let's be real—you can't just kick an addiction overnight... ☕🤣

I have just finished my daily dose of coffee, and predictably, the tremors have returned. I am left with this relentless restlessness and an uncontrollable urge to badger everyone within earshot with my endless chatter. 🤣 It is simply impossible to resist! It runs in the family; we are all seasoned caffeine addicts in our household. 😍
Of course, this means sleep is off the table until at least 2:00 AM, assuming I don't end up spiraling down a deep internet rabbit hole until three. 🤣

This is an interesting topic, and perhaps my own experience relates to it. I am an athlete who trains daily, currently finishing up my degree, and while I occasionally drink alcohol, I am also someone who can handle heavy drinking sessions. My routine involves having coffee and a few cigarettes every morning; I've always considered myself in peak health and never had issues. However, recently, while studying intensely for my final two exams over the course of a month, something happened. On the day before one of the tests, I was sitting with my coffee and a cigarette, reading the newspaper, when suddenly the paper slipped from my hand. It felt as though I were vanishing from the face of the earth—not a typical dizziness, but a sensation of losing consciousness entirely. I had to force myself to stay composed just to get home. For a while afterward, I felt this lingering need to concentrate intensely on a single point just to remain conscious before heading to my exam. After the test, things improved slightly, but that horrific feeling persisted for a few days. Naturally, I was terrified. Everyone offers different theories—some say stress, others suggest blood pressure—but eventually, it subsided. I decided to quit smoking during the week, only allowing myself a cigarette on Saturdays when I go out for drinks, which seemed to work. Yet, the other day, I grabbed a coffee and a cigarette, and that stupid sensation returned, albeit milder. Today, I had a white coffee and a cigarette, and there it is again: that nagging feeling where I have to fight to stay conscious. I have enjoyed coffee and cigarettes every single morning for as long as I can remember. What actually happened?

you might want to do a little reading up on that

my hands are shaking again, and I can't shake this feeling of pure, restless agitation

it’s the same story for me too; I have a cup of coffee and suddenly my hands won't stop trembling

but then if I don't have it, I just end up being incredibly on edge myself

it's a lose-lose situation, really

I’ve been reading up on panic disorders, and honestly, it seems quite likely that this is just a milder version of that. It makes me wonder—what am I supposed to learn from this? Am I just meant to stop going out for coffee entirely?

Hey there...

I was wondering if anyone else deals with similar symptoms after their first cup of coffee in the morning... specifically having to run to the restroom within about 15 minutes?
I usually take mine with milk and a little sugar, and honestly, I don't mind the trip to the bathroom itself, but since I work at a local CVS, it can get a little awkward when it happens unexpectedly...

Does anyone know if I should change anything about how I make my coffee, or maybe cut out a certain ingredient so it doesn't hit me quite so fast?😁

So-called "weak coffee." If you add sugar to that, you might as well just head straight to the restroom.
I prefer my coffee a bit stronger and black.
Since I make it a point to handle my morning responsibilities early, and usually pair some whole grain flaxseed toast with kefir, I don't need subpar coffee to act as a laxative.😛

Caffeine acts as a mild laxative and a significantly stronger diuretic...
There are plenty of studies about this online...

If you really want to fix the problem—just don't drink coffee.😉 (Or switch to decaf)

Ugh, seriously... every single time I have coffee, I’m running to the bathroom every 20 minutes.😕 It happens like three times in a row, and then finally, things settle down.🤷
I bet I’m the only one dealing with this nonsense.🙏 🤣

I think I'm going to try an espresso without any sugar... just to see what happens... I wouldn't say I'm a total caffeine addict or anything, but that one cup in the morning is pretty much the only thing that actually pulls me out of sleep...

Caffeine is what gives you that kick (and what causes all the trouble). If you cut it out entirely, you probably won't feel that jolt anymore😉 Still, autosuggestion is a powerful tool😁

By the way, it acts as a laxative and diuretic for me too, though it's pretty rare and, obviously, depends on how much coffee I drink.

It’s been a minute since my last post, but I just have one quick observation to make... decaf coffee still actually has caffeine!!!!! (okay, maybe about a quarter of the usual amount)...
Coffee is basically a wrecking ball for the human body. Honestly, I'd bet a huge chunk of the health issues people deal with today are indirect consequences of it, and most folks don't even realize it. We're talking ulcers, gastritis, bloating, jitters, night sweats, headaches, insomnia—it all just ramps up the effects of stress and stuff like that...
For me, it's pretty simple: if I drink coffee, I can go days without sleeping. My brain hits 110% capacity, and when I finally do crash, it's this weird, half-conscious stupor where my limbs feel all twitchy throughout the night. And the sweating? I’ll soak through my shirt so badly during the day that the sweat stains spread from my armpits all the way down to my chest...
As for those "doctors" who prescribe you mania or other made-up nonsense—and yeah, in case you didn't know, being "overly sensitive" is now labeled a mental disorder that requires medication—they should honestly have their licenses revoked and be thrown in jail.
Where I work (doesn't matter where, really), I see plenty of people whose lives have been ruined by doctors who just follow a textbook without an ounce of common sense or actual empathy for the situation. That’s why, whenever you go to a doctor, you absolutely need to get a second opinion. Otherwise, you might end up with some MD telling you to strictly avoid olive oil because it could cause heart complications (which is a total lie). In my own family, doctors have already caused one death, so you really have to watch who you trust with your life...
In every industry, including this one, there are genuine talents out there, but let's be real—there are way too many of the "lesser" talented types hanging around...

I’m honestly glad I stumbled upon this thread. Seeing others post made me realize I wasn't the only freak who reacts this way to coffee.
It all started back when caffeine combined with stress would trigger full-blown panic attacks, but I thought I'd moved past that. Now, if I drink a cup that doesn't sit right with me, my neck tightens up like I'm being strangled, and my heart starts skipping beats in my chest. Once I figured out how to drink it properly, everything seemed fine.
But here's the kicker: when I drink green tea, the exact same thing happens, only much worse.
For example, I can have a cappuccino and be totally fine, but yesterday I had some strong black coffee at a friend's house and two hours later, all hell broke loose. I felt dizzy, nearly fainted, my heart was racing, and I felt like I was suffocating and couldn't catch my breath. After a few hours, it finally passed...
My blood pressure tends to run low, but my cholesterol is normal...
That's just my experience...

Every single time I have a cup of coffee, I either end up feeling nauseous or just straight-up passing out.

So, coffee plus alcohol... yeah, that always leaves me feeling totally trashed. Just this heavy anxiety, weakness, a little dizzy, kind of lost, and my breathing gets all shallow and weird.
And yet, here I am, still drinking them. 🤦

Honestly, alcohol just hits me all wrong lately, which is kind of a bummer because it wasn't always this way, I guess. It’s actually pretty depressing, if I'm being real, that I can't really enjoy a drink anymore without feeling like absolute garbage.😁
So, why is this even happening, and what’s the actual deal with all of this? I mean, is there even a fix for it, or are we just kind of stuck dealing with it? Maybe there's a way out, but honestly, I guess it's hard to say for sure.
Honestly, I don't really have any issues when it comes to coffee, I guess. It’s just one of those things that seems fine for me, maybe? Not sure why anyone would make a big deal out of it, but as far as my own routine goes, I'm good.
