We finally found some peace at home once we put screens on all the windows and doors!
At work, I’ve had the worst luck—out of six people in my office, they all seem to target me directly...

Back at home, my husband and I are basically mosquito magnets. We both have B+ blood, so maybe there's actually something to that whole blood type theory! For me, the best repellent has been Smell Well (which is a hilarious name because it smells like anything *but* "well," haha). I can only laugh at the "absolute delight" my coworkers show every single day when they see me coming...😁

I've also started getting these massive blisters from those tiger mosquitoes. They eventually turn dark, making it look like I'm covered in bruises all over my body—it's honestly disgusting!

Then again, there are people who just don't get bitten at all. I know this one doctor who hasn't been touched by a single mosquito in his entire life, and apparently, he has some kind of liver condition. I don't know the exact medical details, but his liver supposedly releases something into his bloodstream that mosquitoes just can't stand...

When I'm sitting out on the patio on summer evenings, I just rub some fresh basil and mint on my legs, and I can tell you for a fact those bugs hate those strong herbal scents!

A few years back, I dealt with this weird allergy where one single mosquito bite would trigger about ten more right around it. I used a liquid topical anesthetic to help dry them up faster. Usually, I just stick to some hydrocortisone cream and take a B-complex supplement. Apparently, mosquitoes are drawn to the lactic acid in sweat. Also, there's this plant called Oman—if you burn its root, it smells like camphor and keeps the bugs away much better.

Once you get stung, just slather on some hydrocortisone cream. It stops the itching almost instantly.

I just noticed a pretty massive lump—about an inch or so—along with a smaller one around half an inch. They look like mosquito bites, but I’m wondering if they can actually get that big? It’s a bit unsettling—they popped up out of nowhere and I don't recall being bitten by anything lately.

Man, two years ago my skin was just covered in these massive welts after getting bitten—every single one was about half an inch wide. It wasn't even the itching that got me; it was that stinging sensation whenever I tried to scratch them. I ended up breaking my own rule about avoiding heavy chemicals and just used some Off! spray to deal with it.

I don't know what kind of mosquitoes were out there, but whatever they were, they weren't normal. I spent the entire summer walking around with those bumps.

So, five days ago, I got absolutely slaughtered by mosquitoes all over my body. The next day, I went ahead and slathered everything in Synopen, and now most of those bumps are just barely visible. But the three bites on my face? They’re still bright red and look like little swollen welts. It doesn't even itch anymore, but man, it looks terrible. I started using Garamycin yesterday, but honestly, I'm seeing zero improvement. I have a huge meeting this Monday, so if anyone knows what actually works to clear this up fast, please help a girl out.

Maybe try putting some ice on those spots. 🤷 If there's swelling, that should help bring it down a bit.

I don't really have any brilliant advice to offer.

You might want to try applying some hydrocortisone cream to that red patch—it clears up pretty quickly if you catch it early enough.

I’m starting this thread because I want to know if there’s anything sitting around the house that can actually work on a mosquito bite.
The itching is driving me absolutely insane, but I really don't feel like running out to buy some overpriced cream.
I've got five or six bites right now and if I don't stop scratching, I'm going to lose my mind.

I think I read somewhere—or maybe I just heard it—that rubbing a leaf from a garden herb over the bite helps. I might have to give that a shot since I've been getting eaten alive for the last few days. But honestly, the weird part is how they’re biting me. It’s like there are pairs of bites everywhere—about ten different spots on my arms, each one having two little marks right next to each other, maybe 2 or 3 millimeters apart. It makes me wonder if we're even dealing with mosquitoes at all.

I know I'm about a month late to the party here, but maybe this helps someone. People say putting regular white vinegar on the bite works; I tried it and the itching actually felt better. Now, is that legit or am I just imagining things... 😁

Back on this thread again. 🤦

Got bitten by a few mosquitoes the other day and man, they weren't small bites. It’s starting to settle down now, though. I've noticed a ton of people reacting like this lately—it's like the mosquitoes have gone absolutely feral this year. But... one of the bites has this redness about two inches wide and maybe an inch long.

Anyone got a suggestion for what I should rub on this? What can I apply (I started using cold compresses today) so I don't have to end up at the doctor's over this crap? If this is just a preview of what's coming for me this summer, I am screwed. We get swarms here all the time, but this year is just insane. 🙄

honestly, I found Benadryl gel worked way better for me than Kamagel... really hoping they still stock it, haven't picked up my supply yet this year 🤷 (I actually had a bit of a reaction to Prozac, but hey, maybe it works for someone else)

p.s. sorry about that. we just end up circling back to the same topics so much here... you just gotta scroll back a bit

I'll be honest, I haven't scrolled back through this whole thread. 🙈 Can you pick up Benadryl gel over the counter? I know it’s usually for allergies and it works pretty well (talking about the oral version, though I assume the gel is basically the same thing).

You can actually grab the gel over the counter without a prescription, yeah...

Thanks. 😘 I was just reading some stuff online suggesting it might be a good idea to moisturize the sting and then apply some baking soda. 😬 Usually, just plain old white vinegar does the trick for the itching, but honestly, it doesn't even itch that much anymore—it’s just swollen and red. I don't think I've ever dealt with swelling this bad before. And man, the mosquitoes out here lately have been absolute monsters; once they start targeting you, there's no escaping them.
