The most critical part is simply deciding you actually want to lose weight—and sticking to that decision for at least seven days straight, twenty-four hours a day.
Everything else is easy enough.

Because... if you decide not to eat a single thing after 6 p.m., things will improve significantly. Or if you just commit to being a vegetarian for ten days...

Maria Kelly6 said:The issue is I've got this nasty cold and a sore throat, so I'm basically just spooning honey to feel better, which isn't helping with the weight gain at all.

Honestly, honey isn't even that big of a deal as long as you aren't going overboard with other sugary stuff, plus it’s actually good since when you're feeling under the weather you really need to stay hydrated and stick to things like chicken noodle soup, so maybe just watch your dinner portions and hold off on any fasting until you're back on your feet.
but if you mix in plenty of fruit and try just liquids for a single day, it really helps clear everything out and flattens the stomach, and honestly, that bloating might just be from your digestion being slow, like what you mentioned earlier.

Maria Kelly6 said:I’ve got two weeks until my wedding and birthday, and suddenly my stomach is bloated out of nowhere. On top of that, I can't even button my favorite shorts because I gained a few pounds again this month. I really need to drop at least 5 or 6 pounds—please help me find something effective and fast... any ideas?
🙂

Look, just try fasting for those two weeks. Maybe eat one tiny snack on Sunday and call it a day. And drink plenty of water.
You'll definitely lose the weight. 🙂

And if you honestly can't handle going without food, just try sticking two fingers down your throat and into the toilet every time you overeat. It works just fine. 🙂

Out of everything that’s been suggested, I honestly think the smartest move might be to just take the scheme and stay put instead of heading out anywhere. 😉

Please, stop promoting bulimic behavior here—someone might actually take it seriously!

Exactly what I was thinking. Period. For things like the gallbladder and stomach... it works wonders on gallstones!

between the cavities and all that other garbage

but honestly, what’s even worse—and I mean truly messed up—is that habit of purging just to drop a few pounds or stay thin. It's a mental illness. A straight-up eating disorder. It can literally kill you, and I don't see anything funny or "inspiring" about those kinds of "tips"... seriously. I could go on forever about this, but I really don't want to get into the weeds and give anyone ideas on how to spiral into that kind of hell...

Honestly, it’s pathetic if anyone is actually dim enough to take that kind of advice seriously 😲
The real issue here isn't us—it's this toxic obsession with weight loss and this completely warped idea of what "beauty" should look like 🙄
People are starving themselves and losing their minds just to hit some impossible standard—some people even resort to purging just to drop a few pounds
It's absolutely ridiculous 😛

if you want to find where things went sideways, look at this weird obsession with being skin and bones—this totally warped idea of what "beautiful" even looks like. it’s not on us for making fun of how ridiculous it all is. 🙄
people are out here starving themselves or doing insane stuff just to drop a few pounds... it's gross.
super important point there. 😛

calling people "dumb" is a dangerous game—that could be your own kid one day (hopefully not, obviously). and hey, they could be brilliant (just like their mom 😁), but let's get one thing straight: eating disorders have absolutely nothing to do with how smart someone is.

rustymoose54 said:"stupid" is a choice—it could be your daughter one day (hopefully not, obviously). Or she could be brilliant (like her mom 😁), because let's be clear: eating disorders have zero correlation with intelligence.

I certainly hope so too.
Regardless, excuses don't hold water.
It’s like saying, "My dad used to hit me, so now I’m going to hit my kids."
Trauma isn't a hall pass for bad behavior.
There is a fundamental distinction between people—the ability to maintain a sense of ironic detachment.
If you can master irony—combined with a healthy dose of skepticism—you won't just blindly fall victim to some destructive habit that ends up ruining your life.
That might not be about IQ, but it’s definitely about common sense, and nothing else.

Alright, I see I’m finally being taken seriously here.

But honestly, it’s about time.

I mean, when you’re dealing with people like Maria Kelly6, you have to be serious.

Seriously, how much have you been eating since the last MIT symposium that you need to drop 3 kg?

10kg?

but honestly, excuses don't mean a damn thing...
it's like that whole "my dad hit me, so now I'll hit my kids" nonsense—
you can't just blame trauma for everything.
There's gotta be something that separates us from animals, and for me, it's having a sense of irony...
if you can actually use a little irony—you know, a healthy dose of skepticism—to look at what's happening to you, there's no way you're gonna let some destructive habit take over your life.
Maybe that's not about being a genius or whatever, but it's definitely about common sense... nothing more, nothing less.

Look, we aren't the only people reading this thread, so how do you not get it? And do you seriously think a thirteen-year-old kid has a fully formed moral compass or enough "common sense" to even talk about? ...Eating disorders are serious, dangerous illnesses, and you don't need an excuse for a disease. It doesn't matter if someone uses irony or not—that logic is just flawed. There's a much smarter way to mock a situation where some insecure girl thinks she's going to see God just because she lost three pounds of water weight.

Maria Kelly6, you’ve already started several threads on this topic. Honestly, it feels like you’re putting more energy into arguing on internet forums than actually trying to lose weight.
Take me, for example. I used to be a hopeless case when it came to gaining muscle and mass—I was painfully skinny. It took me five years of hard work to finally get myself in shape, and I did it: I hit my target weight, I'm no longer scrawny, and I couldn't be happier with how I look.
If I had wasted my time talking about it instead of actually doing the work, I would have achieved absolutely nothing.
At the end of the day, your goals are just plain foolish: "3 kg in 2 weeks." It sounds like some trendy, "miracle" crash diet you'd see advertised in a magazine like *People* or *Cosmopolitan*.
Skipping breakfast, skipping dinner, sticking to 1,000 calories, no meat, no carbs...? What kind of nonsense is that? "Don't eat anything for 7 days" is the exact same thing as those other ridiculous diets. Look, if someone doesn't care about their health, they might as well just take amphetamines every single day—guaranteed weight loss success right there!
