Come on, boldpuma89, you're on the right track! I'm crossing my fingers for you. 👍
Decide for yourself when you're going to make the final cut. Honestly, I think what you've achieved so far is already a huge win, but that final break still needs to happen since you're still smoking! 🙂

It’s been about a day and a half since I quit, and man, the breathing difference is real. Today I ended up sprinting from the bus stop to campus—I was running late for an exam, total disaster—and I can't believe how easily I did it. I didn't even lose my breath for a single second. 😁
Ugh, cigarettes... just gross. 😁

I basically handed my stash over to all the smokers around me. I haven't breathed a word to anyone in my family yet, though my crew at the office has definitely noticed a massive shift in my vibe. It’s funny, though—some people are jealous, some are cheering me on, and others are just sitting there waiting for me to slip up and fail...
It’s actually weird because I can’t pinpoint the exact moment everything flipped. It wasn't like I sat myself down and made a big dramatic announcement like, "That's it, I'm quitting," or "I'll just cut back, this tobacco is gross..."
None of that happened. It was more like a phase that just naturally drifted away, much like any other stage you go through in life...
The feeling is honestly incredible. Everything smells clean—no lingering scent on my hands, no bad breath... and even (ugh, typical woman thing!) my hair still smells fresh the day after a wash... WOW

I’m finally getting my act together—if you even consider doing 4 a day "getting it together."
Honestly, I’m kicking myself for not sticking to the "zero" plan from the jump. If I had just stayed disciplined, I’d be sitting at about 50 days clean right now. What a waste.
Anyway, thanks everyone for jumping in so fast to help me out!

Has anyone else actually quit smoking because of this thread???

I honestly felt the urge to light up the second I read the title, which just goes to show—smoking isn't some physical necessity, it’s purely a habit!

To give you some context, I actually quit back in February earlier this year, but I only lasted three months. It was brutal. Then, I told myself I wouldn't touch one, and I actually held out for five months straight! I was seriously proud of myself for that stretch.

But now that I'm sitting here thinking about it... maybe I'll never quit. Why on earth would I deny myself something that actually gives me a bit of pleasure? 👋

Because honestly, only a fool would go against their own nature and sabotage their own health...

Look, maybe I am an idiot, but just so you know... two years ago I got hit by a car and was incredibly close to quitting smoking for good. Since then, I’ve started looking at life through a slightly different lens than people like you who don't have a clue how much "life" is actually a relative concept!

Just for your information, I knew a guy who walked away from his wife and two tiny kids when he was only 42... and he NEVER even touched a cigarette! All you talk about are idiots wrecking their health... meanwhile, the man ended up dying from spinal cancer!

I drifted off-topic there... my bad! 👍

Just so you know, I once knew a guy who left behind a wife and two tiny kids when he passed at 42... and he NEVER even touched a cigarette! It’s just people being reckless with their health... he ended up dying from spinal cancer anyway.

Look, we all know there are cases where people get lung cancer without ever picking up a cigarette in their lives. But if smoking is proven to be one of the primary causes, then yeah, I want to avoid it—both for that reason and because of all those other great points Kimberly Williams already mentioned...

And you, if you're going to be such an asshole about how much you enjoy smoking, at least have the decency not to do it on a thread dedicated to QUITTING. 😠

Actually, now that I really think about it, I'm never going to quit smoking—why would I deny myself something that actually feels good? 👋

Look, man, I started smoking right around the time you were born, and I used to say that exact same thing all the time. I just hope you realize sooner rather than later that it’s total bullshit!
(Sorry if I sound like a condescending older brother here)🙂

It’s like I’ve finally moved past the whole smoking phase and the craving just isn't there anymore. Honestly, I haven't even gone around telling everyone I quit, though people are starting to pick up on the vibe already...
And my friends have been great—they'll offer me a cigarette without thinking, and once I tell them I don't smoke, they just drop it. No big deal. We just keep the conversation moving without any of that heavy-handed "I'm so healthy now" philosophy or fake euphoria...

Everything feels totally fine, except for one thing, hmmm—it feels like my ass is getting a little bit bigger...

(Forgive me if this comes off a bit too much like an "older brother" lecture)🙂

I have to side with boldpuma89 on this one... it’s the exact same story for me.

Back when I was eighteen, my life was a whirlwind; besides knocking back two packs of cigarettes, I’d regularly polish off a bottle of vodka and light up five cigarettes at once. There were stretches where I wouldn't sleep for two or three days straight. But as the years passed—without anyone ever telling me what to do—I just naturally moved away from all that, and today, I’m clean as a whistle.
You have to live through your youth while you can. If I had a time machine and could go back to being eighteen, I honestly wouldn't change a thing.

That said, cigarettes are definitely "out" these days. Pure garbage!

You won't believe this, but the real struggle is only just starting for me—and I’ve actually made it about two months smoke-free. I almost lit one up the other day...
It felt absolutely terrible, but in that moment, it hit me: that craving for a cigarette is never going away. It's just part of who I am now. 🙄
I guess I just have to learn how to live with it. Besides, after being quit for this long and dealing with the weight gain—there is no way I'm going back to it!😠
Sending strength to everyone else who has quit or is planning to take the plunge👋 👋 👋

thanks Dyna:
Honestly, I’m doing fine—except for one thing, hmmm—I feel like my hips are getting a little wider...

...tell me more about it...🙄
I’ve noticed a bit of filling out myself, but don't let that get you down. When you stop pumping nicotine and all those other toxins into your system, it’s a massive shock to the body. 😲
I think we just need to hang tight for a bit while our internal functions stabilize. I've heard stories about people gaining weight after quitting even when their appetite hasn't actually changed at all...
Anyway, we'll get everything sorted out eventually. 😉 😎

Just saying, I’m holding my own!

And I’m staying the course... found a guy who doesn't smoke, so now I actually feel too embarrassed to light up in front of him, haha.

The cravings hit, sure... but I'm not folding.

I highly suggest you check out http://www.antimult.ru/
Don't let the Romanian language scare you off—just grab the "smokekills"exe file.
It’s a seriously intense little movie about quitting smoking and all the nasty stuff that can happen if you don't...

I haven't touched a cigarette since October 1st, and I was actually just sitting here thinking about how I should reward myself... maybe with a little smoke... then I checked out some health stuff and stumbled onto this thread... and well, that settled it. To hell with Big Tobacco and their filthy white lies and dirty snowballs; I'm done handing you my money. I won't light up. Maybe never again, but certainly not right now. Once the craving passes, I won't even need the self-justification anymore. Honestly, I already feel better. On another note, in these ten days without smoking, I've gained about three pounds. Someone’s probably going to say "oh no, how terrible" and drop an emoji 😁 😁, but it’s real, and I’ll definitely have to hit the gym to fix it. I've also realized that instead of being addicted to cigarettes, I'm now addicted to chocolate. Yesterday at 1:30 AM, I was practically scavenging through the house looking for sweets. I couldn't find anything and almost drove to a 24-hour convenience store. Finally found Nutella in the cupboard and absolutely demolished it...
Now I'll have to start a new thread about dealing with the side effects of quitting smoking

Maybe I won't ever again, but at least right now, I'm staying strong, and once this craving passes, I won't even need to try to convince myself anymore. Phew, I already feel a bit better just saying it. On another note, in these last ten days of being smoke-free, I've actually put on about three pounds. Now, I know someone is going to say, "Oh no, how terrible!" and drop an emoji 😁 😁, but it’s actually noticeable, and I really need to get moving with some exercise to balance things out. I've also realized that instead of being addicted to cigarettes, I've become a total chocolate addict. Last night at 1:30 AM, I was literally scavenging through the kitchen looking for something sweet; I couldn't find anything and was almost ready to drive to a 24-hour convenience store in a frenzy. Luckily, I found a jar of Nutella tucked away in the cupboard and absolutely demolished it...

Nicotine gum worked wonders for both me and my husband...

He hasn't smoked in 6 years, and I'm at one year and 7 months now.

It’s getting pretty quiet in here. Did everyone just collectively decide to ghost me, or what?
