I just caught wind of this—a film adaptation of the legendary book by Douglas Adams is officially in pre-production. You can check out the details here.

I heard that NBC produced an incredibly successful series based on his work—they even turned the book into a drama. If they follow his original recipe, they shouldn't be able to mess this up. I'm genuinely excited for this movie; it looks like it will mostly feature British actors, and there’s even talk about bringing in some Monty Python members.
If I dig up any more info, I'll let you all know.

Actually, Terry Jones from Python was such a close friend of Adams.

To be honest, this whole project has been stuck in pre-production for what feels like forever; Adams spent years tinkering away at a script that just never seemed to make it past the starting line.

I caught a bit of that series, and honestly, it didn't really grab me. I've just never been a fan of how they handle filmmaking over in the United Kingdom.

I’d much rather see an American studio take a crack at it...

The producers are actually Hammer & Tongs from the United Kingdom and Spyglass Entertainment from the USA, with Disney handling distribution 🙄. Looks like you got exactly what you wanted!

That movie was absolutely top-tier. Honestly, though, the series feels like a bit of a step down... mostly just because the special effects aren't quite hitting the mark.
