Jack Harris3... I honestly haven't the slightest clue what might be going on here, but maybe you could find some foot fetishist to give those feet of yours a little break 🙄 😁

Ree, they’ve been rated now, so things are getting a little more intense... It’s such a shame you aren’t right here with me. I’d love to give you a proper little taste, starting with my left one since it's the smaller of the two—just enough to tease you before I follow up with the right... I'll make sure you get exactly what you're craving! *spit*

Jack Harris3 said:Alright folks, let's brainstorm. Anyone remember anything that might cause swelling in the feet or legs? Throw it out there... maybe I'll finally stumble onto a clue.

What about Aspartame? Swelling can actually be a side effect of being poisoned by that artificial sweetener (if you ask me, more like a neurotoxin)... Check out the thread Orbit/Diet Coke.... Look, I know I'm probably being a broken record here... 🙂 But I'm genuinely curious if anyone else on this board is "sensitive" to it (though saying that is kind of like asking if anyone is sensitive to 😁) ... I mean, you might actually be one of those people without even realizing it 😉.

Honestly, none of that... I haven't had any of those in quite a while.
Just the regular sugar in my coffee and some iced tea that I've been sipping on for a bit now.
*cough* I actually picked up a different brand the other day because the shop I went to didn't have my usual one, but I’d had that one before too, so there wasn't really any reaction.

I'm heading to the doctor tomorrow, so I'll let you guys know how it goes—assuming they actually find anything...

Jack Harris3 said:I've been dealing with this for three days now... At first, I thought it was just the heat last night, but then I woke up this morning feeling like a total wreck. 😕

My foot and ankle are swollen, and it seems like it's starting to spread up my calf.
Calling myself a "wreck" might be a bit much—it's not quite a disaster—but the swelling is definitely noticeable; my right leg looks quite a bit larger than my left.

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? I guess I'm just worried that if I have some kind of sudden heart issue, I won't even finish cleaning the house before it hits...

Maybe try using some raw apple cider vinegar to massage the area, and perhaps apply some compresses with it too.

Vinegar can really help draw out inflammation.

Thanks 😘, but where would you even look for it? 😁
I’d probably have to order it from overseas. Then again, who knows if this is just a fluke or an actual pattern... I'm not sure if oats can even make that much of a difference...

I was at the grocery store a little while ago and my toes just cramped up on me. It wasn't even because we were talking about it today—I forgot to mention that it's been happening more often lately—but it passes after a few minutes, and every single time I just tell myself, "dammit, it's just getting old." 😁 It never really crossed my mind that age might not be the culprit here.

granitebadger25, that leg stretch recipe of yours isn't doing much, but when I'm sitting down with my legs tucked and I lift my toes, I feel something in one specific spot on my leg. It’s not exactly intense pain, but there's definitely a dull ache there. Is it worth trying anything else? 😁
Just asking while I've got you... looks like my doctor isn't exactly a fountain of wisdom... 😢 😲

Jack Harris3, look, just go see a doctor already (and please don't have your husband posting here later about how you're doing 😁). The girls here already laid out the possibilities for you—like how issues with the right side of your heart can cause edema. Does the swelling leave an indentation when you press it, or does it bounce right back? Either way, just get to a doctor. I guess I've officially become your official medical nag now 😉.

Unfortunately, a doctor isn't going to give you a diagnosis over the internet...

If both legs are swollen, there's a chance it could be heart or kidney issues (but I'm sure it's nothing to worry about 🙂), or maybe just some venous insufficiency.

But if it's just one leg, it could be a blood clot. Honestly, it could be anything. You really need to go get it checked out. No one can tell you for sure through a screen like this. I'm basically a professional nag when it comes to doctors, even though I'm secretly terrified of them myself 😁

It snaps right back. Is that actually a good thing or a bad sign? 😁
My husband definitely isn't going to be typing anything useful anytime soon, so don't worry about him... even if I am truly on my last legs here...
He doesn't even know where this forum is located. 😁

Good grief, Jack, that's not a recipe, it's a sign 😠
A recipe? Please... we aren't in a cooking class 😁

To be honest, I can't tell which leg you're even talking about (front or back 😁 ) ... but the trick is to move the entire foot forward and back while keeping your heel firmly planted on the floor.

I was just staring into my coffee cup 😁 and it looks to me like Jack has some issues and needs to see a specialist. 🙂 🙂

Jack Harris3, you're probably right—if things stayed just like this, I guess you'd be happy. I'll head to the doctor tomorrow and let everyone know how it goes.

I just stumbled upon this thread... I dealt with the exact same thing ages ago, and honestly, I can't even remember what my test results looked like after all that digging, but I know for a fact I was popping Benadryl because they thought it was some kind of allergy or maybe an insect bite, even though there wasn't any actual sign of a sting anywhere.

I'm still feeling totally wiped out. 😁
If they end up letting me go, I'll be walking on eggshells at home... 😁

I couldn't even bring myself to tell my husband what I was asking you guys or what you all said. Now he's actually insisting I go see a doctor. 😲
Instead of just pitching me another life insurance policy and waiting things out... 😁
Honestly, the man has zero business sense. I spent all last month trying to talk him into making that big move to China for work. 😁

A friend of mine dealt with something similar after an insect bite. It’s been three years now, and one foot is still noticeably larger than the other—I suppose she finally has something interesting to list under "distinguishing marks" in her passport.

I’ve also been dealing with cramps in my feet for the last few weeks. I haven't quite figured out the cause yet, and since I haven't panicked just yet, I'll let my doctor weigh in first.

Jack Harris3, by the way, do you have flat feet?

Not at all.
And I mean that literally. 😁 I inherited my feet from my mother, though thankfully not her size 9s. 😁 They’re just all bone... there isn't a single ounce of cushion on them. You can see every bone and every little vein popping out in relief. It's gross, honestly. Just not a good look.
Anyway, when everything suddenly looks smooth and plump, it really stands out. (And it actually looks way better than usual. 😁)

I actually overslept this morning. I just woke up and I'm sitting here having my coffee. Part of me wants to call the doctor just to express my shock that I didn't sleep straight through until noon.
Right now, the left one looks normal. On the right, there's still a tiny bit of swelling around the ankle, but you'd only notice if you were really looking closely and comparing the two. Whatever happened, it seems like it's passing for now.
I'm still going to go see the doctor, though maybe not today. Once I finish this coffee, I'll give them a call. Maybe they can squeeze me in for a few minutes tomorrow.

So, thanks so much everyone, and once I get my test results back, I'll let you know what was going on. 🙂

As for an insect bite, I can't even imagine. Usually, you feel it when something bites you or you see a mark, and I'm not even that sensitive. To be fair, the last time something bit me was ages ago, but I've never had issues like this before. The spot just got swollen or itchy or whatever, but that was it. It cleared up in a day or two without any extra drama.

Is it just swelling?

What kind of edema are we talking about? Does it go down if you keep your legs elevated?

How long has this been going on, and can you link it to anything specific?

If it were a heart issue (like heart failure), you’d probably be dealing with other symptoms too, like fatigue or getting winded easily during exertion...

Maybe some kind of metabolic imbalance?

Or is it just simple idiopathic static edema?
You mentioned you aren't moving around much lately, so that might be the culprit.

Whatever the case may be, go see a doctor—it’s not like they're going to bite you 😁. Just a few basic tests should be enough to start with. 😉

Solaris said:just swelling?

Aha.

And what about the edema? Does it go down if you keep your feet elevated?

No. That day I made my first post, I woke up with bumps all over.

How long has this been going on, and can you link it to anything specific?

The last few days, just like I said. It’s never happened before and I can't connect it to anything, which is why I'm here asking what it could be, since everything else seems fine otherwise.

If it were a heart issue (like insufficiency), there would be other symptoms too, fatigue, shortness of breath during exertion,......

Oh, when I push myself, I get winded, but that's been the case for 20 years, and considering how much I smoke, I'm doing alright for now. 😁

maybe some metabolic disorder?

Slightly.

or just idiopathic static edema?
you mentioned you don't move around much, maybe that's it.

Jeep, I'm an idiot and that's why I'm suffering, it is what it is. 😁 I move around normally for someone who isn't an athlete, but it's been that way for years. Why would my feet suddenly decide to react now? Though, I guess it has to happen for the first time eventually... 😁

whatever the case may be, go to the doctor, they won't bite 😁 , just a few simple tests to start with 😉

I am afraid. 😲 But I will go. I can kick you guys out with one click of a mouse 😁, but it's a bit harder with my husband, and he's pushing me to go right now too... 😢 Should I get a dummy for him too? 😁

Pesica; how's everything going??? You head to the doctor yet??? We're all waiting on that diagnosis!!!

P.S. Honestly, you seem more terrified of the doc than my dog is of the vet (btw—don't go taking a dump in the flowerbed 😁 (my pup does that all the time))
