Oh man, girl, you are absolutely brilliant! 👍
Can I take you with me when I finally kick the bucket? 😁😁😁

I'm heading out next week. I promise.
(Not to a cemetery. Probably. 😁)

Hey, Susan Ortiz43, my blood pressure has been bottoming out for decades now... I'm used to the whole deal where I can't jump out of bed or get up from a chair too fast without getting all dizzy and stuff, but why on earth would my legs suddenly start swelling up from that? They've never done this before... And nothing has changed with what I'm eating, or my weight or anything like that.

Just let me enjoy my weekend, because next week I'll be heading off to see those "men in white" doctors. (That's what we call them here, guess why... 😁)

Wait; is that why you have to kneel the second you see him? 😳 😛 ???

Hmm... Virginia, I honestly wouldn't have even thought of that.
Once I don't have any cash on hand for a little tip, I'll definitely give it a shot.
I just really hope I don't end up having to see an orthopedic specialist... my meniscus is absolutely killing me, so getting down on my knees is out of the question... 😁

I have a question. My blood pressure has been bottoming out for decades now, so I’m used to the whole routine—having to be careful not to jump up too fast from bed or a chair without getting dizzy and all that. But why on earth would my legs suddenly start swelling up? They’ve never done this before... And it's not like my diet changed, or that I've gained weight or anything.

Person, I get those dizzy spells constantly too 🙄. Some days my legs swell so badly that by 4 AM, I can barely even stand on them, let alone walk. It hasn't happened like this before, though I suppose I might just be blaming this heatwave too much 😕. Is it feeling sweltering where you are? Come on, you "alternative medicine" experts, could the weather actually be causing this? 😁 😉

cosmicridge5; sure, maybe—but your legs were swollen at 4 AM right before you crashed. I’m assuming they didn't just magically fix themselves overnight. Person's legs were still swollen after sleeping. That's the whole point.

I mean, I guess since Person is at least twice my age, maybe she just finds it harder to deal with the closet...😁 😉

If you try to describe me like that, you’re going to end up with more than just a few bruises... 🙄
You think you can just brush me off after everything? Seriously? *spit*

Person, I wouldn't say that's quite right. I always feel like I'm freezing, honestly... I don't really start feeling alive until it hits at least 90° even when I'm sitting in the shade. I handle the heat pretty well, so if it's actually starting to bother me now, then things are seriously 🙂

Well, we'll find out next week. Or maybe we won't. They'll probably just tell me everything is fine in the end, and they don't have to tell me twice... if they say that, I won't be anywhere near them for the next ten years. 😁

If they tell you everything is fine, that’s exactly when you should start worrying. 🙄 😉 😁

Case in point: a week before my surgery, they told me I was good to go and sent me straight home.

magicna; you probably just have a crazy fast metabolism so illnesses can't catch you. 😉 😁 (honestly, you should probably hit up the doctor morning and night just to be safe. 😛 )

off topic

I went in for some routine blood work today... the nurse actually told the doctor that she looked more sickly than I did 😁

Speaking of leg issues, I’ve been dealing with this nagging, uncomfortable ache in my legs for a few days now. It actually feels like the tendon behind my knee has somehow shortened.

I brought it up to my doctor today, but he didn't seem particularly interested in the issue... his response was basically that we just wait for the blood work results 🙄 so who knows what kind of surgery they might end up recommending for me.😁

Mr. Pes said:I've had them for three days now... First day I figured it was just the heat, but this morning I woke up feeling like a total balloon. 😕

My foot and ankle are swollen, and later on, it's gonna spread up to my calves.
Calling myself a balloon is a bit much, maybe, it's not *that* dire, but the swelling is pretty obvious—my right leg is way bigger than the left.

Anyone got a clue what could be causing this? If I have some kind of heart attack while I'm trying to finish the dishes or wipe down the dust...

hi Pesica,
so I just wandered onto this subforum, and from what I can see, you're in "danger" territory.
Judging by how you're describing it, we're looking at dextro-cardiac insufficiency with lower extremity edema. You absolutely need to see a doctor to verify the diagnosis.
Not trying to freak you out or anything, but a diagnosis is inevitable here, even if it isn't immediately life-threatening.🙂
You've been a long-time smoker—honestly speaking about those cigarettes—but it might be time to quit, because your body is already sending you warning shots.
Later!
M.

Mr. Pes hasn't said anything—so I'm guessing he skipped the doctor's appointment 😠

Try pressing on the swollen area to see if it leaves an indentation after you let go.

At this point, we’re all just guessing what might be going on. Without a full medical history and a hands-on physical exam, everything we say is just pure speculation.

Honestly, your best bet is to just head to a doctor. You aren't going to get any real answers hovering around here.

I’m right there with you—my feet have been incredibly swollen lately, too. I actually went to see my doctor about it, and it turns out it's a combination of low blood pressure, visible veins, and just holding onto way too much water, which seems to be a problem for me every single summer. Nothing really seemed to touch the swelling until my doctor gave me some blunt advice: stop wearing those flip-flops I absolutely love, or if I absolutely have to wear them, go pick up some orthopedic ones from a pharmacy instead. So, I took his advice and grabbed a pair of Grubinov sandals, and honestly, the difference is night and day; the swelling is so much more manageable now. Plus, they aren't even ugly! They have this totally sporty look that makes them easy to wear with almost anything.

I’ve gone through everything you all posted.
My blood pressure usually sits right around 124/80—though during the night, it isn't always that steady, sometimes hitting 134/88. I'm also dealing with some swelling in my left ankle; it’s turned a bit red and is causing me some discomfort.
I took some Tylenol, which helps dull the pain for a while, but then it just creeps right back. I haven't made any major changes to my diet lately—though, if I'm being honest, I did indulge in a bag of those extra salty peanuts a few days ago. I was just really craving them at the time.
Someone mentioned the possibility of thrombosis earlier in the thread. I'll admit, that thought has crossed my mind, though I’m sincerely hoping that isn't what we're looking at here.
What are your thoughts on these symptoms?
