Ever since yesterday morning, my skin has been incredibly itchy, and I’ve broken out in these red patches all over my legs, arms, chest, and neck.
The spots feel like tiny swellings—you can actually feel the bumps under your fingertips. 😢

I have a hunch it might be from eggs, though I’m honestly not entirely sure since I’ve never dealt with any kind of allergy before.

It just won't settle down, so I think I’m probably going to have to go see a doctor.

Could this be an allergic reaction? And is it even possible for food to cause this? I did wonder if it could be the cats, but they’ve been living with me for almost a year now, so wouldn't a reaction have shown up much sooner? Though, I suppose we do have quite a few more of them lately.

Magic, please help! You always seem to have all the answers. 😢

And let’s not forget about egg allergies, of course...
In any case, I’d say the smartest move is to run this by a doctor—ideally an allergist, if you can swing it. 😉

I honestly believe the smartest move in any situation is to check in with a doctor (ideally an allergist) 😉

Oh, I’m well aware, and I'm already planning to touch base with my doctor (though, as if by some stroke of bad luck, they're working all this afternoon 😢 )
But really, I just wish this hadn't happened; besides looking terrible, the itching is absolutely unbearable 😢

It doesn't matter; you can develop an allergy to cats even if you've lived with them your whole life... it just happens out of nowhere. It happened to me with my dog.

If it’s triggered by cats, it’ll probably just clear up on its own... much like if it were caused by some "convenient" brand of pet food.😉

As long as there aren't any respiratory issues, it isn't exactly a major crisis; urticaria can flare up over just about anything.🙄

Mix one teaspoon of baking soda into some water and wipe the skin down; it'll soothe the itching without messing up the visual, and still have a doctor take a look at it.

Otherwise, try some Inache prometazin cream, but a doctor really should check it out first.

Best of luck, and maybe watch what you eat for a few days.😉

Thanks, Kenneth Hernandez67 😘

I’ve been trying to be really careful about what I eat lately. I usually have to avoid eggs entirely because they used to give me such bad gallbladder issues, but I did decide to have just one tiny little egg earlier 😢 and, well, here we are
.
My cats also gave my arms quite a few scratches, so I started wondering if maybe that was the culprit
. Honestly, I’m just not sure anymore
. All I know for certain is that the itching is unbearable
. When I’m busy working, I can almost forget about it, which is a relief
.
Then this morning, I woke up and everything seemed to have cleared right up
. But once I got to the office and took a look, everything had turned bright red again
.

Haven't you been showing off a bit more skin lately—arms, neckline, ankles?

I guess that "sunny" allergy finally caught up with our little sunshine.😉

Well, it looks like a little "sunny" allergy has decided to pay our sunshine girl a visit, 😉

Actually, I haven't. 😁
Our sunshine girl isn't actually allergic to the sun. 😁

However, I do know exactly what that specific allergy looks like.
Usually, it presents as tiny, pin-sized red spots.
What we're seeing here are larger patches of redness, ranging from small clusters to areas about an inch wide.
This definitely isn't caused by sun exposure.

That’s just a nasty case of urticaria 😉

As for me, I’ve never actually experienced that 😢
I think I'll pass on 😢

I’ve been there... dealing with everything from urticaria to laryngeal edema, plus a full-blown mutiny from all the staff... all because of just two slices of mango. So now you know the secret recipe to getting rid of me 😁
Honestly, I don't even react any better to pistachios.

My allergy collection is so extensive, it’s almost impressive...

Not certain, but if it were food-related,
the allergy would likely be all over your body.
Given that it's just the exposed areas,
it looks more like contact dermatitis.
Think back—did you touch or use anything you don't
normally come into contact with, or maybe spend time in a dusty area or something?

It doesn't necessarily have to be a direct contact allergy, but you should definitely consider if you've switched up any of your beauty products or toiletries lately—like your body wash, laundry detergent, or even fabric softener. When I have a reaction to something I've eaten, I usually get the most spots on my torso, specifically my stomach, but they can pop up pretty much anywhere... even on my legs, arms, and neck.

Food doesn't trigger full-body rashes for me, either.

Yesterday, my rash decided to go on a full-blown tour, spreading across my entire legs, neck, arms, stomach, and even starting to creep up my back.

Once I realized things were spiraling out of control, I headed straight to see my doctor.

They gave me an injection, signed off on some medical leave, and sent me home with a stash of Diphenhydramine and a mountain of various creams.

So now, I'm just hunkered down at home, completely zonked out on Diphenhydramine until the end of the week.

Hey everyone!

So, I’ve got a bit of a situation going on. Every few weeks, this weird rash pops up. Sometimes it’s on my hand—like right above the wrist—sometimes it’s on my neck, but every single time, without fail, it shows up on my stomach, mostly around my belly button. I went to see a doctor, and they told me it’s just a reaction to heat and my clothes. Seriously? I only wear high-quality cotton underwear; that’s huge for me, and I’m super careful about what I put on my body. How could it be a reaction to my clothes? Anyway, they prescribed all sorts of creams and ointments, but nothing actually worked. It seems to just come and go on its own. Those few days when it flares up, the itching is absolutely unbearable. I try to leave it alone, but sometimes it gets so bad I can't help myself, and it even bleeds a little. These tiny little bumps appear too, and it's driving me crazy! It’s gone for now, and I have no idea when it'll flare up again, but my bigger issue is the redness left behind on my stomach, specifically around my navel. I don't know how to describe it—it looks like a nasty dark scar. The skin there still looks irritated, though it doesn't itch anymore. My main problem is that it’s visible. Like, if I wear a swimsuit, I feel really self-conscious about changing. It’s probably not massive, maybe only 2 or 3 cm, but it stands out from the rest of my skin, and until it fades, it's pretty noticeable. I have a trip to the beach coming up soon and I have no clue what to do. Help!

I can't really offer much advice on how to calm the redness down, but I might be able to help you pin down the cause. Honestly, most people who have a nickel or chrome allergy end up with irritation right around the navel because of those metal buttons on jeans that are usually made from those exact materials. Take a look—is the redness roughly in the spot where the button touches your skin?

Yeah, I think you’re onto something. The redness is hitting me right where my jeans button up, and since I'm basically living in denim all day... it's a total nightmare.

If that's the case, maybe I can actually help you out with the medication side of things too 😁
I’m not sure exactly what your dermatologist put you on, but personally—since I’m allergic to chromium and nickel, though miraculously my belly button is always fine while the rest of my body takes the hit 😁—using Hydrocortisone in a base cream helps quite a bit. Not sure if you've tried that yet. Either way, you really ought to head back to the doctor so they can run some tests; just make sure to EMPHASIZE to them that you suspect it's a metal allergy. 😁 At least then you'll know what to stay away from. And hey, if it really is chromium or nickel, that stuff on your neck and wrist could easily be coming from your jewelry. (Like white gold or cheap costume jewelry; you shouldn't have a reaction to real silver or gold).

That rash on your arm and neck looks like it could be an allergic reaction—I deal with stuff like that all the time myself. You might want to try taking some Claritin😉.

I'm dealing with the exact same thing.

Just coat any metal parts with clear nail polish. It works every single time.
