I get those little electric shocks too, though it only seems to happen when I touch the faucet.
I’ve actually learned how to deal with it, so it doesn't really bother me anymore.

Now, I think I'll head back and read through that old thread.

Wait, hold on. I’m getting a bit lost now 😕. Is this kind of snacking actually good for you, or is it just bad news?
And what exactly are these diseases 😕 we're talking about?

What kind of illnesses are we even talking about 😕?

Just look at him after one year 😁.

cosmicridge5 and I deal with this too... sometimes when I slam my car door, a literal bolt of lightning shoots through my finger 😁 (I'm serious!)

The this to this thread actually brought me here. Perhaps a moderator could merge these two discussions, given they both address the exact same issue?

To reiterate: is bulking actually healthy, or is it not?

You guys have no clue how much it sucks when everyone else is dealing with static electricity too. My friends don't get shocked by anything unless I walk into the room. I am basically a walking power plant. Everyone gets zapped the second they see me.
Maybe those rubber clogs I wear are what I should swap out, but seriously people, look at this snow and ice outside—I can't exactly be trekking around in heavy boots right now.
It’s getting ridiculous because I’m actually terrified to open doors. I’m scared to touch anything because, of course, there's an immediate "bzzzz" and I jump like I've been scalded.
And the absolute worst part is getting out of the car... I slowly crack the door, step out, shut the door while sliding the window up (because heaven forbid I touch the door handle with my hair flying everywhere), give myself a little mental victory for making it through that part, and then... I go to open the door I actually need to get inside and—"bzzzz"—there I go again, jumping around like a total maniac.
This isn't normal anymore. I'm developing a genuine phobia of opening doors. 😢

I try to walk away looking victorious after making it through that stretch, and then... bam! Another sudden "bzzzz," and I end up jumping out of my skin like a total lunatic.

I am right there with you. 😁

Getting out of the car has become a genuine struggle for me. And I mean a serious, painful struggle.

Honestly, I’ve already mastered the art of getting out of the car. You just slam the door in such a way that you push against the window instead. Just don't touch the handle. 😱

What really gets to me, though, is that moment right before I reach the door. I find myself shuffling toward it, staring at the handle... and I know I have to open it. I know it's going to send a jolt of pain through me... but there's nothing I can do because I have to get out.
I swear, every single person walking by can see the sheer terror on my face.

I just use my jacket to lock it 🙄 which is honestly terrible

Even that doesn't help me much anymore—it just shakes right through my jacket! 😠

And don't even get me started on the shopping carts at Walmart; it's like they were specifically designed to rattle your teeth out...

I’ve only skimmed some of the posts, but I'm not sure if anyone brought up the mental aspect—you know, the psychological state of someone who's basically sparking with static electricity?

I’m always a bit more "on edge" than most, so maybe that plays into it somehow?

You guys are all amateurs. I’ve taken things to a whole new level: fried hair dryers, burnt-out lightbulbs, even public streetlights that cut out the second I walk by... I think I read somewhere once in a Clark book that people like this are actually just obsessed with polishing things. As long as we're just dealing with power surges, I'm fine. Heh...

Are we talking about some kind of poltergeist phenomenon here? You know, like when someone loses their cool and suddenly everything starts flying across the apartment? 😁

Yikes!!😲

I was actually about to call an electrician because every single new bulb I put in my apartment lasts maybe a week before dying.😲 😁

Then my hair dryer fried on me a couple of weeks ago... thanks to that, I missed the first hour of The Molesters at Kset. 😛🙂

Now that I think about it, my computer shut down yesterday and wouldn't turn back on for a few minutes either: total nightmare. 😁

My hair straightener is still holding on for dear life, though.😕 😁

It’s not like I use it all that much,😕 but maybe now I see why.😁

I suppose it just lacks that certain female intuition.🙏 🙏 😁

So many of us are dealing with this exact issue, yet nobody seems to have any clue how to fix it.😢

There was a period where I was literally shaking every single time I went to get in or out of my old Ford Escort; I actually started dreading touching the door handle. Why? Because the car builds up a massive amount of static electricity while you're driving, and then—BAM—it all discharges through you the second you grab the latch. Oddly enough, I never had this nightmare with any of my other cars.

And it isn't just about vehicles. Static builds up on our very bodies when we walk around wearing synthetic fabrics, only to zap us the moment we touch something else. It’s an absolute shock to the system!

Have you ever wondered why hospital floors in intensive care units are made of specific conductive materials connected to the ground via resistors? It's not by accident. They design them that way to constantly bleed off the static electricity from anyone walking around.

The bottom line? Stop wearing cheap synthetics if you want to stop getting shocked.

I stick to natural fabrics
my bedding is all the same
I even have anti-static carpets
but I’m still getting shocked—don't even get me started on the light bulbs🙄

Some Honda Accord models actually come equipped with built-in de-static dischargers,
where there's a metal contact point on the door frame to ground you as you step out.

It’s the same thing they do in Australia—they use that flimsy 10-inch plastic strip screwed onto the chassis that drags along the pavement to discharge static electricity.

man, oh man 😁that

I once totally "fried" an air compressor 😁

one phase just completely died on me 😁

and I happened to have a massage gun right there on my calf...

if you see a red Honda Civic in the parking lot with fingerprint smudges all over the window... yeah, that's my car 😁 😁

and it has that little thing to discharge electricity from the car 😁

but I don't have one 😁... hmm... maybe I should just install a wire so I can hook myself up whenever I get in the car? 😁
