I mean, seriously—if it wasn't for Mel Gibson, I probably wouldn't know a damn thing about half the stuff out there! Like, either they just didn't cover it in school, or I was totally checked out when it was actually making headlines... oops!
So—Gallipoli! Seriously though, besides anyone who’s seen that movie, how many of you actually know anything about the Turkish Front during World War I? And don't even get me started on the whole mess involving the Australians and all those crazy skirmishes where the UK decided they just had to jump in and make their mark... it's a wild history, honestly!
No way—I mean, did you even know about the role the Australians played during the Battle of Tobruk? Seriously, it was just those Aussies holding the line against Rommel! If they hadn't stepped up and kept Rommel pinned down in Tobruk, there’s a massive chance Egypt would have fallen completely. Just wild to think about, right?
Madame Hooch said:"A Year of Living Dangerously"—man, we really didn't know the first thing about Indonesia back then, other than the fact that they were part of the Non-aligned movement!
Man, it’s such a bummer when you aren't reading! Seriously—do yourself a massive favor and grab a copy of "Among The Believers" by V.S. Naipaul. It’s this absolutely phenomenal travelogue that takes you on a wild ride through places like Iran, Pakistan, Indonesia, and Malaysia. You’re gonna learn so much about those parts of the world—it's honestly eye-opening stuff!
Madame Hooch said:"Braveheart"—man, who actually taught us about that whole resistance thing where the Scots fought against the English crown? Like, all that misery and humiliation those peasants went through back in the Middle Ages... honestly, even the name William Wallace doesn't really ring any bells for me!
Man, there are just so many things that are wildly inaccurate in this movie! Like, seriously—it completely glosses over the fact that the Pope actually excommunicated the entire nation and Robert the Bruce personally. It totally ignores how Edward I was basically just doing the Vatican's dirty work, heading over there to crush what they saw as a heretical movement. I mean, how does that even square with Mel Gibson’s extreme Catholicism? If you're looking at it strictly from the Church's perspective, the English should have been portrayed as the good guys here! It’s such a weird oversight, honestly.
