@auto
Man, you really won't let go of Prometheus, will you? Honestly, movies like that are exactly why people have stopped showing up to theaters just to binge series at home or hunt down torrents. You drop a bunch of cash on some hyped-up 3D experience only to realize you've basically paid for a total miss. 👎

look, amigos, this isn't some flick for the suburban housewives, capiche?

The first season of Las Vegas is actually solid, but honestly, everything after that just goes straight downhill if you ask me. As for the other shows, I wouldn't even waste my breath talking about them.
I’ll catch NCIS on TV whenever it happens to be on, but let’s not kid ourselves—it’s hardly high art. It’s basically on par with CSI Miami. Just pure, unadulterated American propaganda drivel. And that other NCIS spin-off? Not worth a single letter of my response. Somewhere in LA or whatever, I tried watching five minutes of it before I started feeling some pretty nasty side effects 😬.

And clearly not for anyone with half a brain, either. ☕

TV series have more breathing room—they allow for deeper conversations and extended discussions over time.
A movie is much more concise 🙂

That's why I love a movie - a whole life in 90 minutes, though not everyone gets that.👍

Take one of the greatest cinematic masterpieces ever, Psycho, and compare it to the series Bates Motel, which is basically its prequel.

Sure, we finally get all the backstory on how that little psycho grew up under his overbearing mother, but... the show was clearly just stretched out for the sake of it. It's not saying it's bad, but man... I'll always take a movie that hits the mark and leaves it at that. No endless aftermath needed.

There are plenty of mindless shows out there, sure, but once you get hooked... You find yourself talking about the series more than the movies themselves. 😉

@leMONZoo, @Zachary Nguyen2... look, I respect your take—I really do—but man, I just cannot get behind CSI. I don't know what it is, but I run from those shows—every single iteration of the franchise—like the plague. Ever since they first hit the airwaves, I've just been unable to wrap my head around them. It’s not that I’m sitting here trashing them or claiming every single episode is garbage—it’s more fundamental than that—I simply can't stomach the concept. It's not my fault 😁

I just love NCIS. Everything else is garbage compared to it, and there's no debating that.

You’re basically my go-to for this kind of comparison. Honestly, if you had just mentioned the Fargo film and the series together, we actually could have had a decent debate going about which one holds more water, maybe even pulled some interesting parallels out of it. But as it stands, there isn't much to talk about since the series is such an absolute train wreck.

I don't even know where to start with this one, honestly. It’s just one of those days where everything feels like a massive uphill battle, you know? I feel like I'm spinning my wheels in the sand while everyone else is cruising by on a highway. Just feeling pretty lost and looking for some direction, if anyone out there actually has any.
Alright, let's get this show on the road. 🙂 🙂

That's exactly my point—how great movies just turn into mediocre shows.

The Fargo series lost everything that made the Fargo film good. It’s watchable, sure, but...🙄

I mean, just look at *Zodiac*. It’s honestly tough to find another police procedural that hits quite that hard. Maybe *Serpico* comes close, but honestly, nothing else really jumps to mind immediately.

Across 110th Street, for example.

It’s definitely an underrated movie, though I guess we shouldn't go too overboard with the praise.

I remember the first two or three seasons of that show being pretty dull.

Man, you've got some seriously boring seasons for your favorites🤔 😲
I guess everyone’s taste is different, right? Maybe the slow burn just isn't your thing. You kind of have to settle into the vibe to actually enjoy it.

I haven't checked out Across 110th Street yet, but I might give it a shot eventually.

It’s just because the pacing is too slow.

The Wire is the only show that actually matters. It’s the exception that proves the rule, isn't it?

Do a little Google search on that 110th Street thing. Honestly, did it seriously occur to nobody that there might be a decent, modern police procedural out there that actually hits the mark? 🤔I’m drawing a total blank, just like I said before

Lately, it feels like TV series are slowly snatching the crown from movies. The quality of shows is steadily climbing while movies—especially those big Hollywood blockbusters—seem stuck in a loop, just chewing on the same tired old tropes over and over. Sure, some good ones pop up, but they’re becoming increasingly rare. This year, I haven't seen a single movie worth recommending or even bothering to brag about.
Series definitely have the upper hand here. If you stumble upon a good one, you get at least 6 or 7 seasons of solid content to sink your teeth into, which lets you really settle in and enjoy the ride.

I’d say things like *S.W.A.T.*, *End of Watch*, or even those gritty crime dramas—they're all pretty good in my book. Honestly, police movies and shows are kind of my guilty pleasure.

The whole topic itself feels like a generalization, much like most of the comments here. I also think series are blowing up because they're so much easier to access than they were 20 or 30 years ago. Back then, your only shot at seeing a show was if one of the few major networks decided to pick it up, but we all know how easy everything is to stream nowadays.

The FBI is easily one of the best action movies out there.
I haven't seen the sequel yet, so I can't really weigh in on that.
You could definitely group Cellblock 211 in with the police genre.
