A living being is a living being, and if we start tolerating cruelty toward animals, we're just one step away from tolerating it toward people...

Unfortunately, nothing’s gonna happen from that year mark. At most, after a year, they might be able to swap out the sentence for some community service, but honestly, that all just depends on how the judge and the lawyer play it.
