I guess I’m wondering if anyone else watched Interstellar and realized how wild it is that a farmer and his daughter just stumbled upon this massive underground facility—roughly the size of New York City—hidden in some random cornfield out in the middle of nowhere. They basically just hit a fence with their truck and decided to go see what was on the other side. And then, they just sent him into space the very next morning because he was already there, which seems like a pretty convenient way to pick a pilot, I suppose. To me, the plot logic feels a bit like Independence Day or The Day After Tomorrow, where things like an ice age seem to move way faster than a standard baseball game.

I suppose it both is and isn't, since they worked on the book and the film at the same time.

Sunshine, sundresses, high heels, and ice cream.

To hell with politics and all this arguing over whose side is bigger regarding movies.

Give me some live footage from the hotspots in Los Angeles

Show me some curves and assets; people are starving out here...

Jessica Gonzalez said:The story behind The Matrix is just incredible, especially considering it was an entirely original script rather than some adaptation of a book, comic, or whatever else. I guess they unfortunately messed up the sequels by leaning too hard into endless action scenes and melodrama just to please the crowds. The original is definitely one of the most unique films of the modern era. I wouldn't say it's the greatest of all time, nor would I call someone silly for not liking it, but it has qualities I really value: originality, a compelling plot, and a believable world. You could argue Inception is an original film, but conceptually, it feels a bit like a second-rate version of The Matrix. They even seemed to borrow the whole "limbo" idea, which feels like a copy of that space between reality and a computer program. 🤦 for both concepts. I suppose the only thing the other film did better was casting, since Keanu Reeves has about as much acting range as a street lamp.

Honestly, I thought his emotional range in John Wick was incredible. He absolutely deserved an Oscar for that look on his face right after his dog died. It’s a total must-win. ☕

Alright, let's be real—has there actually been anything worth watching in the last two years? Because if you ask me, the answer is a resounding yes.

That’s not quite right. The guy used to do this professionally, so it’s obvious he isn't just some random amateur. He knows exactly what he's doing—he's hunting those drones or whatever they are.

I mean, sort of. The book itself came out right when Arthur C. Clarke was working on that script with Stanley Kubrick, but since the whole thing really grew out of the story for Sentinel, you could argue it counts as an adaptation.

To Stanley Kubrick, everything from The Killing is basically a Masterpiece Theatre.

🤣🤣🤣 The moment that happened, I just knew things were going to go downhill from there. It’s like when you see those first cracks in a dam—you don't need to be an expert to realize the whole thing is eventually going to give way. It was just one of those gut feelings, you know? A slow slide toward something much worse.

Man, you aren't being "radical," you're just stuck in the past. You're honestly handicapped because you can't wrap your head around—or properly value—the massive leap Scott and Miller took when they decided to strip back the aliens and the cosmic consciousness stuff in their recent flicks.

Those are the kind of directors who actually have guts, the ones making cinematic history,
and obviously, every genre has its own sub-genre. Like, if a movie features one specific monster, one singular creature like an alien, then that film is flirting heavily with fantasy territory.

So, you have to accept certain rules for how you watch things. It's like, I'm not gonna sit down and watch pro wrestling if I can't get into the vibe, right? Movies are the exact same way.

But you? You just don't know how to get into it. And you don't need drugs for that—you just need an actual imagination. ☕

Yeah, I guess he did. But out of billions of people, he's the only one who's ever flown a plane. And then, of course, he just happens to stumble upon the headquarters in a basement a few hours before launch. It's almost too convenient, isn't it? Maybe it's just a coincidence, I suppose.

It's true, though—they definitely made a massive pivot. If you look at the drop in quality 😁

Honestly, Interstellar was such a letdown. I mean, come on. You get to that ending where they’re doing that whole dramatic eye contact thing through the bookshelves, all those dust motes floating around, the ticking clock... give me a break. It’s like they were trying way too hard to be deep just to hit a deadline. Total snooze fest. 🤦

Arthur C. Clarke basically said there’s no point obsessing over Sentinel when talking about The Odyssey. They tweaked the little they actually took from Sentinel so much that it barely bears any resemblance to the original. Besides, an adaptation lives or dies by the script, and the script by Stanley Kubrick and Clarke counts as an original screenplay. Just because Kubrick and Clarke teamed up on the novelization doesn't change the fact that The Odyssey isn't an adaptation.

Whatever, it's pretty much a non-issue anyway.

You've got a point there. I haven't actually sat down with Sentinel, though I did read The Odyssey. I'm not really familiar with Sentinel, other than hearing that they started working on a screenplay inspired by that story. But like you said, that doesn't make it an actual adaptation.

The wildest part to me is how everyone was absolutely losing their minds over Alien and Max in leather, acting like those were the gold standard, and then you get Mauna? Absolute nada. Zero. Zilch. Nothing. 🤣

It seems you didn't quite grasp even the parts that were glaringly obvious to the casual popcorn eater.

Oh right, I forgot, you're just one of those people who gets hung up on the editing.

🤦🤣🤣

And that’s just looking at it from a "space" perspective. Not to mention that the entire central point of the film seems to have completely, entirely escaped you.

Honestly, I’d probably forgive them even if they hadn't included Alien in Prometheus or Max in Mad Max, as long as the actual movie was good.
