Sweden is basically a joke right now; honestly, you might be better off doing nothing at all, since the government will just go through all the motions to drag you toward some mediocre middle ground where they can keep you stuck...

Anthony Jackson2 said:Orbán is a piece of work, but let’s be real—that's nothing new. That’s exactly why he’s become such an icon for our local wannabe right-wingers. I can already see how Tomislav Karamarko will be sucking up to him at every single opportunity once he gets back into power.

Look, he can be a total disaster and a complete joke, I don't care. As long as he’s got his people backing him—and like ambertinker41 said, he’s actually got the legal stuff on his side—then honestly, you can just forget about him. You can't do anything. And it's not just that Canadians dislike him because of the whole populist thing. It's more because, unlike those leftist rivals of his, he actually did something real for Canada. Like, seriously. He brought down unemployment, cut the national debt, lowered public debt, wages went up, and exports shot through the roof. Plus, he stopped the GDP from tanking, and now they've been seeing growth averaging over 3% for two years straight. Meanwhile, back home, we act like it's some huge miracle when we see growth for two quarters in a row, especially when one of those quarters only looks good because of tourism. Honestly? I’d take him in a heartbeat for our own politicians, whether they're on the right or the left. Because even if Viktor Orbán is a total ridiculous clown, at least the guy seems to actually know what he's doing.

Larry Fox5 said:When migration hits this kind of scale, the rulebook basically goes out the window—there's just no way to follow every single protocol perfectly. I mean, you can't exactly build a massive camp to sit 100k people down one by one to check their IDs and origins, right? We’d be stuck at the border near the US-Mexico line for two years before anyone even moved an inch.

That would be absolute pure chaos, total madness... instead, they get spread out to different processing centers across the US so they can actually be vetted to see who even qualifies for asylum.

Look, I know none of us want to stare at those photos, and nobody wants to be stuck in those lines themselves—but there has to be some level of basic humanity here, where we aren't treating people like cattle just to be herded around.

Then again, you have Viktor Orbán.......

http://www.sueddeutsche.de/politik/u...n-ab-1.2634266

.... which is just fine for someone trying to coexist with Muslims.

The worst part is he's getting massive support for his views, both back home and in other countries too.

Man, we aren't just stumbling through the dark anymore. We've become the darkness.

That’s really the core issue here. If you don't know where these people originated, how can you possibly verify if they were actually living in a war zone? How many people joined the flow along the way? You think someone didn't just tag along with the group from outside the conflict area?

If Germany wants to take in 8 million people, fine, let them deal with it, but why the hell are they forcing everyone else to pick up the tab?

I’ve noticed they tend to loop that movie whenever a major global headline breaks, though it's anything but subtle. To be honest, the film is garbage, and its historical accuracy is about as reliable as Avatar...

Honestly, the only thing that movie actually got right was the character names. Everything else? Total fiction.😁

If a nation of 4.5 million people is going to collapse just because it takes in 1,500 asylum seekers, then honestly, who cares if it goes under?
If a country can't handle 1,500 people, does it even deserve to exist?

But they don't want to come to America. So why on earth would anyone force them to stay here? I really want to know what their reaction is going to be when they cross the ocean, only to be told, "You're headed to Germany," or "You're going to France," or "You're off to Sweden." And then they find out they're actually being sent to Italy, Bulgaria, Romania, or Canada instead...

Let’s be honest: they have no desire to come here. Who in their right mind would want to move to the States unless they were born here or happened to be a billionaire?
Even people from China are looking for ways out of here.
The real issue is this manufactured panic. People are acting like it's the end of the world because of these refugees, yet not a single one has even set foot in America, nor does anyone actually intend to show up.
If we let some directive from the European Union force 1,600 unfortunate souls to ruin their lives here in the US, then what kind of country are we even becoming? A nation that sacrifices its own stability for something like that is a nation in trouble.
That is really all there is to it.

This is a heavy topic, and honestly, there isn't one right answer to it. It’s obvious as day that people fleeing crises need help—that goes without saying for anyone in trouble—but at some point, you have to respect basic rules and social norms.

Larry Fox5 had some good experiences, whereas my own run-ins with folks from Turkey were, frankly, pretty terrible. But hey, I get it, a hundred different people means a hundred different stories.

Look, not every asylum seeker is a thief, a criminal, or a terrorist, but it's just as naive to assume they're all saints who only moved here looking for a better life.

That’s why Americans who are looking for reasons to hate on Syrians will find plenty of dirt, while someone determined to see them in a positive light will find plenty of good things too.

But we absolutely have to separate the rotten elements—who should be kicked straight to hell—from the "decent" ones who actually want to blend in and contribute. We need to set some standards. Asylum seekers should be making an effort to find work instead of just living off the system; they need to learn how this country works and pick up the language, and they MUST respect the laws of the land they're in! You can't just show up, complain after three months that things aren't like back home, and start demanding changes, because there's a huge risk that if they cluster in one spot, they'll gain too much influence and start demanding special privileges—like bilingual signs or building minarets and whatever else.

Time to clear out the dead weight already here. Separate the wheat from the chaff.
If it means a better future for us, sure.
If not, who knows.

They hand them maps and satellite imagery and make them identify specific landmarks like schools or local sites, and they even listen to their dialects and accents to vet them.

My issue isn't about whether we should help these people, nor am I trying to predict some massive socioeconomic meltdown. It's that I can't stand this total anarchy where people completely disregard authority and the law, and then get cheered on for it. Plus, there's this constant media campaign just tearing apart anyone actually trying to follow the rules.

Look, we'll help you, but at least show some basic decency toward us.

Oh, don't you worry, I'm sure there will always be some beautiful corner of the world where Americans can flee once everything inevitably falls apart... 😁 places like Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, or maybe even Denmark and Ireland 😬

Eat dirt☕I'm a redhead🤣. I mean, I'm not really that islander type with the bright eyes, freckles, and bright orange hair, though.
