The crew used to post all their training reports there, so I’d always upload mine too—routes, splits, everything—usually just taking screenshots of my apps. These days, though, I don't obsess over the data quite as much; I just run because it feels good. It's become a bit of a ritual for me since I don't drink, I don't smoke, and I don't eat junk—well, I stick strictly to what I prep myself (unless life gets in the way), so I guess you could call running my one little "vice."

I’ve finished four half-marathons, for what it's worth.

How about you?

When you're running just for the fun of it, you don't even need to stress about the clock or your pace. It's all about the rush. Me? I still geek out a little over the stats—timing, heart rate, all that data my watch pulls in. I actually finished a full marathon once, too.

Look, I'm pretty sure Zdeněk Zeman wouldn't agree with you on that one. 😁

Oh, nice. I've been thinking about tackling a marathon myself, though I have zero clue how much training I'd actually need. I can handle 32 or 33 miles—I've done it a few times already (not in an official race, mind you, just doing loops up and down that 16-mile stretch near my place)—so I figure if I put in the work, a marathon is definitely within reach.

A close friend of mine—my best man, actually—has gone through some truly extreme stuff: he did the Ultrabalaton (around 134 miles), the Forrest Gump challenge at the local stadium (running for 12 hours straight), and things like that. 🙏 It's honestly pretty wild.

He’s knocked out four half-marathons and hits the pavement every single day, yet he somehow lacks any real sense of what his actual pace should be. 😂

Look, you're being a bit harsh—I was saying that back when I used to track everything at the gym, all those photos and stats were filed right under the reports, so if anyone actually cared to dig, they could find them. That was my focus back then. Nowadays? Not so much. I just run because it feels good. Besides, my pace isn't even consistent anymore, so there's really no point in me just guessing numbers for you.

But hey, you're the one who brought this up to me. ☕

I can't quite remember if that doctor from those old commercials on ABC is still kicking—you know, the one all about men's health? I distinctly recall him running a half marathon back then; he was an older guy, but he looked incredibly vital, running like he was in his twenties. If you catch my drift, there was this one ad where he basically implied he’s still performing just fine in the bedroom, or something along those lines. 🤣

God, tell me about it... and I’m actually younger than him. 👍
Five months of training for a full marathon should be plenty, assuming you can even handle a half marathon first.

Let's pivot to some more interesting topics—anyone actually register a car since January 1st? Also, can I settle that commercial vehicle tax through online banking, or does STP have a monopoly on this?

Now you've actually piqued my interest; I might just go for it. I’ve been meaning to start for a while now. I even picked up that book by Haile Gebrselassie at some sale for $9.75. ☕

When it comes to the half-marathon (assuming you're actually running), do you do any specific training in those 2-3-4 days leading up to it, or do you just rest? And what's your carb intake looking like during those final days? That’s where I totally messed up the first time because, frankly, I didn't have a clue what I was doing.

Three runs a week. Diet? Honestly, just winging it... nothing special.

Wait, so you were so obsessed with it that you—get this—were actually posting data on a damn forum, yet today you claim you don't know how much or how? So the data is somewhere over at the recreation center, is it? 🤦

Please, keep going; I'm honestly starting to enjoy this more by the minute.

Look, compared to someone who has crushed multiple half-marathons, I’m a complete amateur, which means I can estimate my pace without even looking at a watch within maybe ten seconds per kilometer.

Well, fine then, carry on enjoying yourself. You know I love a good argument or some lighthearted trolling, but in this case, I'll just let you sink or swim on your own—at least until we hit something big like a ZDS or a Marshall moment.

Anyway, if it would actually mean anything to you, I could try to dig up that certificate. It’s likely floating around somewhere—you know, those symbolic diplomas, t-shirts, and medals they hand out (that's how it worked back at the Plitvice races). Not sure why I'd bother, though, but hey, whatever.

Well... Now I’m just sitting here waiting for the inevitable debate about specialized pre-race diets, all because someone decided to go out and run a race just for the sake of running.

It’s nothing but broke people in this group, just riding the subway and calling it a day. ☕

And it actually is specific—you’re supposed to be carb-loading two days out. ☕

But it shouldn't be just any random carbs; you really have to consider the glycemic index. ☕

Everyone at the gym knows that too, which is exactly why you don't show up anymore
