It’s not exactly life-changing—I won't be revisiting it and I honestly can't tell you what stuck with me, but it isn't total garbage either.🤷

Look, I’ve said this more than once before, but at this rate, we’re going to see more people dying from sheer, unadulterated panic over this virus than from the actual flu itself...

It’s absolutely infuriating how they treat cancer patients like an afterthought, as if the only thing that matters now is catering to the handful of people who caught this bug

I was talking to a friend today who works as an anesthesiologist over at JPMorgan Chase's local medical center, and he says they haven't done a damn thing for two weeks. Everyone is just on standby because of the whole coronavirus and ventilator situation. Usually, they’re averaging about twenty surgeries a day, but now it’s strictly emergency cases only. They’ve shuffled everything around in the hospital; the staff is split into three teams of twelve, and once the hospital hits capacity with infected patients, they work for a week and then have to go into mandatory isolation for fourteen days.

Just imagine the fallout once this all blows over. You’ll have massive numbers of people passing away due to things totally unrelated to the virus, not to mention the absolute chaos when everyone tries to rush back in to make up for all the stuff they couldn't handle while being turned away. 🤦

I just finished watching The Platform, and honestly, it was incredibly gripping.

Then there’s The Occupant, which follows this absolutely wretched individual operating out of Barcelona. It touches on themes that I think anyone can find themselves relating to on some level. ☕

And now I’m onto the first season of Cudotvorac—what an absolute powerhouse of a series. 🙏🙏

Just sitting here watching the new Bad Boys, spending my weekends lounging around in slippers and getting lost in video games... basically partying like it's 1995.

A top Chinese expert just weighed in on where he thinks the US and Europe are totally missing the mark regarding the virus

In my view, the massive blunder being made in the US and Europe is that people just aren't wearing masks, and honestly, that's the core issue because this virus spreads through droplets and close contact. Those droplets are everything—you have to wear a mask because every time you open your mouth to speak, those droplets are flying out. Plus, you've got so many people carrying asymptomatic or even presymptomatic infections without even knowing it. If everyone just wore a face mask, it would stop those virus-laden droplets from escaping and infecting everyone else.

And there's more to it too:

Social distancing is basically the bedrock strategy for controlling any infectious disease, especially when we're talking about respiratory infections. Initially, we had to rely on non-pharmaceutical strategies since we didn't have specific inhibitors, medications, or vaccines ready to go. Second, you absolutely have to make sure you isolate every single case. Third, all close contacts need to be quarantined; we spend an incredible amount of time trying to track down every contact and making sure they stay isolated and in quarantine. Fourth, you've got to shut down public gatherings. Fifth, you need to limit movement.

So, we basically jumped straight to step five and completely ignored steps two and three, which is wild if you think about it.🙏🙏🙏

Damn, Easter is only two weeks away. I have no idea how people are going to navigate their holiday plans with COVID-19 swirling around... Honestly, I don't even want to know.

First off, everyone should just wear a mask; you'd need a mountain of them since you'd be wearing them all day, and besides, there aren't even enough to go around for the people who actually need them.

Second, of course a Chinese official would say that when their export prices have jumped tenfold because every country on earth went crazy trying to stock up. It’s perfect timing—have the Chinese tell us, "Oh, don't bother buying those." Even though 90% of virologists and experts have already pointed out they don't help!

Every single day there's a new expert with a new statement that people love to weaponize in arguments, and you're still proudly quoting them... look at this:

Dr Chris Smith, a consulting virologist at Harvard University, told RNZ that people shouldn't waste their money on them.

"Go ahead and spend it on something actually useful that you enjoy, like grabbing a beer. Those face masks are total garbage and they don't do a thing."

"Those face masks are absolute rubbish and they do nothing" - consultant virologist Dr Chris Smith

Dr David Carrington, from St George's, University of California, told CNN that "standard surgical masks for the general public don't provide effective protection against viruses or bacteria traveling through the air," which is how "most viruses" spread, given they fit too loosely, lack air filtration, and leave the eyes unprotected.

Dr Jak Dunning, the head of emerging infections and zoonoses at the CDC, stated: "While there's a perception that wearing face masks might help, there is actually very little evidence of any broad benefit from using them outside of clinical settings."

Steven van Gucht, who leads the scientific committee for the new coronavirus (Covid-19), remarked that it made “little sense” for healthy individuals to use masks as a preventative measure.

“Wearing a mask is only effective for patients who have already been infected with the coronavirus, as well as for medical staff,” van Gucht noted. “These masks are actually meant to protect those around a [Covid-19] patient from germs spread through coughing, sneezing, or talking,” he added.

Look, there’s really no point in you quoting other people's opinions at me, because I could just as easily turn around and start quoting a bunch of folks who believe the exact opposite.

Instead of getting bogged down in what people "think," I’m honestly going to side with the groups who actually managed to shut this epidemic down, since they're the ones who actually delivered results.

Since you seem to have some doubts about China, let me give you a little insight into how things are handled regarding masks over in Korea:

Between the news broadcasts, the voice announcements echoing through subway stations, and those constant alerts popping up on everyone's smartphones, people are being reminded non-stop to wear their masks, keep up with social distancing, and stay on top of the latest infection data.

I really shouldn't have to spell it out for you, but in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and a whole host of other Asian countries, almost everybody wears a mask, and I'm hoping you can finally accept that as an objective fact.
If you just take a second to compare how they're handling the outbreak versus how the West is doing it, the difference is pretty obvious.

Anyway, here is the full breakdown for anyone interested—basically, the summary is this:

1. Mass testing across the board
2. Keeping social distance
3. Masks and staying on top of personal hygiene
4. Keeping the public informed so they can act responsibly

NO LOCKDOWNS!!

That’s the strategy used by the people actually winning this fight.

But honestly, the absolute craziest part of this whole thing—the thing that really gets me—is how everyone keeps insisting that healthy people shouldn't have to wear masks at all.

That’s easily my favorite argument in this entire debate over whether we should be masking up en masse or just letting it go. It’s just peak comedy.

I mean, what’s even the point of this entire circus if we already know exactly who’s sick and who isn't? You just put the sick people in quarantine and call it a day in two weeks. Everything would be sorted.

Look, I don't think the whole argument is about healthy people not needing masks just because we can't tell who's sick and who isn't. It’s more like, hey, stop being greedy and hoarding everything. You shouldn't be buying up the entire stock like a maniac when we need to make sure there's enough left for the people who actually need it—medical staff, retail workers, and anyone on the front lines dealing with the virus directly.

restlesssurfer97 said:So, I was reading about how Lionel Messi actually ended up getting hauled in because they claimed he wasn't keeping his social distance in the middle of the plaza, saying he was basically breathing down some other guy's neck, but honestly, the court totally bought his side of the story when he argued he was at least three feet away, which is exactly what the rules say you're supposed to do 😂😂

Look, they aren't even buying all this stuff at local pharmacies, right?

I honestly feel like the communication here is totally backwards; because there's such an obvious shortage of masks, they’re trying to push the narrative that masks aren't even that important, which if you ask me, is a massive mistake.

Just look at a simple, everyday example, like a cashier working at a grocery store.

I mean, can anyone here honestly sit there and claim that a cashier has the exact same statistical chance of catching COVID-19 if all 200 customers walking through the door every day are wearing masks versus if all 200 of them walk in without any protection at all?

In my opinion, we shouldn't even be debating whether mass mask usage is necessary in the first place. It's as clear as day that widespread mask use lowers the risk of transmission. Anything that helps us fight this thing should be used.

If we were talking about wild conspiracy theories, then sure, I could get why people have conflicting opinions, but when you see entire countries showing exactly how to successfully manage this, that's not a theory—that's just straight-up practical application.

So, here we are: the private healthcare sector calls all the shots in the US, and Donald Trump isn't about to impose any quarantines on the major cities. I guess we'll just sit back and see how that whole mess plays out, won't we?

Honestly, you don't even know which one is worse, whether we're dealing with an escalating epidemic or the fact that 3.2 million people just lost their jobs last week, which is a total historical blowout since everyone was expecting maybe 1.5 million at most according to the forecasts, though even that would have been a record.

If the cashier simply wore a legitimate, high-quality protective mask instead of some useless scrap of gauze,
then they wouldn't have any issues at all...
