restlesssurfer97, you've got a point about the masks, especially since asymptomatic people spread it too.

That four-day incubation window is critical, which is why masking should have been the standard.

If we could prevent transmission from those without symptoms, things would be way easier to manage. It might have actually been manageable. I guess we wouldn't even be dealing with this whole mess.

But there's one catch.

There aren't any masks.

Exactly. That’s the thing, if people just communicated things exactly the way you laid them out, we wouldn't have this mess, instead of everyone claiming they don't even matter.

He wrote this so well that even us laypeople can actually wrap our heads around it. This specific part really caught my eye:

Basically, right now because everyone is laser-focused on the epidemic, every single death involving an elderly person who tests positive via a throat swab is being pinned directly on COVID-19. But once this whole epidemic settles down, they’re going to have to take a hard look at the death rates in different parts of Italy and compare them to the averages from the same months in previous years. It might turn out that a good chunk of those people were probably going to pass away during that same month or year anyway, and COVID-19 just sped up the inevitable by a few weeks or maybe a few months. If that’s the case, we'll see a massive "reclassification" of causes of death, where they get reassigned to whatever underlying conditions were already expected, leaving COVID-19 to only account for the deaths that actually exceeded the normal baseline. In the end, that could significantly drop the number of Italian people who truly died *from* the coronavirus rather than just dying while having it.

I was actually just thinking about how 2020 in Italy might ends up looking like a huge win in the fight against cancer and other serious diseases, simply because mortality rates will look like they 'dropped.' I guess we'll just have to wait and see if they actually handle all the data with any kind of integrity.

They'll probably start requiring passes.☕

None of our local experts—from the official FEMA leadership and Rudan to all those US and European specialists I see on TV and online—have explained this virus and how it spreads as clearly or concisely as this doctor from Korea. There were things I hadn't even considered until I watched this video.

For anyone with the time and interest to truly understand the virus, I highly recommend watching this from start to finish...

Feel free to summarize it a bit; nobody's going to sit through 36 minutes.

Give me the short version—nobody has time to sit through the whole video.

To be clear, I didn't share a three-hour lecture here; it's a concise nine-minute clip. 🤷

He is addressing topics that you simply won't find being discussed in the mainstream media outlets.

Most people here probably spend more than 36 minutes a day scrolling through news about Covid-19 on various media outlets. In that light, watching this video is actually a much more productive use of time. Like I said, if you want to watch an informative video from experts with real-world experience fighting pandemics—rather than our local officials who only have theoretical knowledge prior to this outbreak—then go ahead. If not, feel free to just keep following Beroš...

Even he is stating that masks should be worn, which, when you step back and look at the logic of it all, is perfectly reasonable. ☕

A big thumbs up to the app and the entry requirements for the country. 👍

Look, when temperatures are sitting between 40 and 50 degrees Fahrenheit, the virus has the perfect setup. It can hang out on a surface for up to three days. But on certain surfaces, depending on how much humidity you've got, it might vanish in just a few hours.

That’s exactly why they keep repeating the same thing—that things should settle down once the warmer weather hits. Higher temperatures mean the virus won't stick around nearly as long, which naturally cuts down the transmission rate.

If I'm reading this right, every single test costs $140?

They can go ahead and do that if they want to test themselves. But if a doctor sends them for one, or if it actually comes back positive, then the government picks up the tab.

Exactly what we discussed—these "decisions" will be implemented based entirely on whatever ego trip a guy in a blue uniform is having at the moment.

Collective punishment, selective enforcement, making up laws on the fly, restricting freedom of movement, and treating speech like a crime—it’s all become their standard playbook lately, hasn't it? And honestly, it seems like hardly anyone even cares anymore. But then again, should we really have expected anything different?

Though, I must say, I’m pleasantly surprised on that front! If any of that stuff actually happens, it usually ends up being just isolated incidents. Especially when you consider the kind of wannabe ss-ovacs running around the police wing of FEMA issuing orders.

Welcome to the real world.
All this was happening to one specific group—the fans. While they were being treated like animals, getting slapped with fines and criminal charges based on mere comments, having their homes raided, their jobs targeted, and living under constant terror, the crowd was cheering them on, shouting "beat the hooligans." When they pushed through those speech laws, or when they sang songs about war profiteers, the masses were rooting for the police. Now, you can all eat what you cooked.

(I'm not aiming this directly at you, but I'm pretty sure those two journalists back then were just nodding along and approving everything.)
