Kudos to everyone. Navigating this whole mess with such careful precision—despite a few minor hiccups along the way—is practically an exam you're passing with a solid B+. People are asking the right questions, rightfully questioning the leadership's decisions and where their authority actually ends, all while maintaining a healthy respect for how serious this outbreak and its fallout really is.
Now, we’re just counting down the minutes until eight o'clock, when someone can finally take to their balcony and give this whole sickness the middle finger it deserves via a loud concert. ☕

but honestly, it feels like the President has completely lost his footing in this total chaos 🍿

urbanhawk17 said:So everyone else—except for retail workers—just happens to have a ride? Must be nice.

What about the people working until 5 or 6 PM? How are they supposed to grab groceries?

Just shop on your day off and call it a win. 😉

wiredrider9 said:seriously, you gotta buy meat and bread? relax, nothing's gonna happen to you. just bake your own bread—it'll be better, healthier, and way cheaper—instead of trying to source yeast through some black market deal somewhere.🤣

I don't touch bread; I stick to meat. I guess some people just can't function without their carbs. 🤷

Take your example, for instance. I guess you could ask why they don't just put the people commuting from out of town—say, someone driving from a suburb into downtown Chicago—on the first shift.

Maybe they should just cap the number of people working at the store. It’s way too crowded right now anyway. If they shifted the hours to run from 8 AM to 8 PM and actually redistributed the shifts properly, I guess everyone would end up with an extra day off. Maybe that would work.

It’s just stupid. You clock out at 5:00 PM, realize you forgot to pick up something essential for dinner, and suddenly you're stuck. You have nowhere to go. You're just stranded.

A friend sent me a photo from two days ago showing a line outside a 24-hour CVS. It was crazy—people stretching out at least a hundred yards down the street. And that was only around 6:00 PM. I guess things are getting pretty desperate.

edit:

I don't really care if they work until 5 PM or if they wrap things up by 1 PM, assuming that actually makes sense. I just don't see the point. What's supposed to happen during those three extra hours, anyway?

Of course there's going to be a line at the pharmacy because you have to hand over your SSN or insurance info—they have to keep records of everyone coming in, especially if they need to track someone who might need to be in isolation.

As for you forgetting an item? That's on you. Be smart, write a damn list, grab what you need, and get out fast. If people actually did that, there wouldn't be an issue. Instead,
people wander aimlessly through the aisles for half an hour while everyone else is stuck waiting outside because of idiots like that. I spent 40 minutes standing outside a couple of days ago; once I finally got inside, I was out in 3 or 4 minutes. Just grab your stuff and go. Stop making a mountain out of a molehill.😉😉

I'm a solid 5 on this, I think I get your point, but I just don't see the logic in working until 5 p.m.

Like I said, if it actually makes sense, they should just wrap things up by 1 p.m.

I don't see the point in working Sundays, I don't see the point in working on Christmas Eve, and I definitely don't see the point in working until midnight only to drive out to some tiny town in rural Colorado to visit a relative, then realize I need to grab something at the mall on my way back—only to find everything closed at 3 PM on a Saturday, and that’s even without this whole damn virus mess.🙄

edit

Since we're talking about things making zero sense—honestly, most of this feels pointless to me. Like, why shut down the entire country over a virus that's killed a few dozen thousand people, most of whom were already chronically ill? A regular flu takes hundreds of thousands of lives every year and nobody treats it like the end of the world. So many decisions being made right now feel totally irrational... I'm starting to feel like I'm living straight out of Orwell's 1984.

I’m usually working until almost 5. If I need to pick up something mid-week that won't sit on my desk for a few hours, I just head out a little early and make up that extra half hour or so the next day. No sane boss is going to give you grief over that.

The logic behind this rule is pretty straightforward—it's meant to stop people from being forced into shift work. All this whining about retail hours is just pure nonsense.

Look, liberals aren't idiots.

I’m not really trying to nitpick whether their estimates regarding themselves or Dalton are actually accurate. I'm just making a broader point—being a liberal doesn't mean you have to turn a blind eye to behavior that poses a genuine threat to the community, does it? At least, that's how I've always understood it.

It seems we are the kind of society that only truly finds its footing when everything is falling apart. Outside of those moments of acute crisis, isn't it true that most people either spend their time cutting corners and tearing things down, or simply stand by and let others do the damage?

You're the one who missed the point. Take another look at what was said. Honestly, how did you manage to miss the entire meaning of four simple sentences? 🤦

Hint: try paying a little more attention, buddy.

I mean, seriously, what does this chauvinistic pile of garbage even have to do with liberalism?

This whole thing should be reported as hate speech, but honestly, why bother wasting energy on some idiot when you shouldn't be giving them any oxygen or publicity in the first place?

Well, this whole thing is just 🤣

So, Vincent doesn't have Corona—we’ve known each other for ages. This lady had her grandkids over because it was Grandpa's birthday, which is the biggest thing ever. Honestly, I've changed my mind; instead of banning everything, we should just issue guidelines on what people should and shouldn't be doing...

If it turns out those seniors voluntarily hung out with infected people (even if they were showing symptoms), we should just deny them medical care, treat it as an attempted suicide, and mandate psychiatric treatment.

And for all the young folks, if they keep partying and it turns out they were in contact with more than ten people during isolation, let's treat that as intentional spreading of the virus and attempted murder.

Anyway, see ya. People are animals; they don't care about themselves, let alone the vulnerable. Then, once they get hit, they start whining to everyone for help.

So what exactly is the plan here—everyone just hides in their holes like bugs and waits for their own bacteria to finish them off? We’re living in a country that doesn't have a single long-term strategy beyond next month, banking entirely on the hope that this thing just vanishes into thin air...

Seriously, you tell me: what does the government actually do if this isn't just some seasonal thing that disappears by mid-February? How do they plan to fund 15 million people for an entire year?

Honestly, I’m going to start deleting these kinds of brainless posts on Reddit—I know human stupidity is infinite, but my patience for dealing with it definitely isn't.

Well, why don't you enlighten me with your brilliant idea? What would you personally do?

The only "mantra" I hear is people whining, "Oh, but shouldn't we all be hanging out?"
Look, I'm totally fine with it—go ahead, hang out. But once you infect yourselves and your families, you can be at the very back of the line for ventilators. Sure, if you want to act like a tough guy and grab drinks with the crew outside, then be a tough guy until the end and admit, "Yeah, I was an idiot," when you and everyone close to you ends up on a ventilator.

And just to touch on it—the government is basically sitting around waiting for this virus to just vanish, but what if it doesn't? Does any single country actually have a real plan in place? Everyone seems to be banking on it being seasonal, hoping it’ll just die out or that we'll suddenly stumble upon some magic way to suppress it.

Given that we don't have the infrastructure or the budget to go hunting for vaccines and treatments, we're pretty much playing second fiddle here. So yeah, waiting is the standard move.
And let's be real: if this thing sticks around, it won't just wreck the American economy—it'll tank the entire global market, leaving people hungry and desperate.

Meanwhile, you keep preaching about human stupidity just because people don't see things through your specific lens, yet you haven't once offered a single actual solution of your own to fix the mess...

Just please, spare me the "I'd just let everything run normally and let herd immunity handle it" routine. Seriously, give me an actual proposal or tell me how you'd realistically manage this nightmare.

What do you mean there isn't one? The Swedes have a strategy, the Germans laid out their plan the other day...

You should actually read up and see who is doing what, instead of just parroting the nonsense from American news sites. But hey, I guess it's easier to just float through life with half a brain.
