So, it turns out this whole procession on Maui isn't even being run by the Church, and they didn't even bother asking for a permit.

steelharbor9 said:So, that video ended up with a like-to-dislike ratio of roughly 50:1. 🤣

Just a snapshot of the nation, Luka Bulić, and a bit of that crazy, beautiful humor—honestly, I don't think we need anything else. 🙏

Instagram influencers, the feminization of men, the gender politics of 1843, Justin Trudeau, transgender surgeries, dogs (who are basically just kids at this point) in restaurants... That's the picture of Western society right there. 🙂

But then again, seeing how many people over on 4chan actually seem to know who he is, I’m starting to think I might be wrong about that.

Same thing crossed my mind. 😁 Honestly, there’s already a whole thread on the COVID-19 sub about survivor stories, yet they shoved this one (from Dzoni) right to the top of the Politics section. 🤦 It's always the same deal—some celebrity beats COVID-19 and shares their "heartbreaking" ordeal, and then their fans just shower them with praise for being so brave.

Alms for New York City from the Great Leader.

I've seen some things, but stumbling upon this speech by Vulin left me speechless.

I can't believe this is actually happening. 🤣

This is gonna end up in American textbooks in a few years. Pure poetry, man. 🙏

Maybe explain to him that he wasn't actually sick, especially since nobody under 60+ gets those symptoms anyway... plus, if he really saw the average age on the ward was around 40 with young people on ventilators, then he's clearly lying. You know the truth better than anyone ☕

Who ever said people under 60 don't get symptoms? Nobody said they don't die either; it's just that they don't die as often as the elderly.

With any illness, there are always severe cases and mild ones.

I had two bouts of pneumonia myself. One time I was stuck in bed for 15 days with a fever ranging from 99 to 103 degrees. Not a single day was lower. The cough was unbearable. Non-stop, morning till night, for 15 days straight. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

The second time, I recovered in maybe 4 or 5 days. I don't remember the exact details.

Do people die from pneumonia? Yes. Do young people die? Yes.

Do people die from the flu? Yes. Do young people die? Yes.

Do people die from COVID-19? Yes. Do young people die? Yes.

I guess I don't see your point. Are you saying if someone catches COVID-19, they should just start preparing their six-foot-deep grave?

You have those two brothers who were among the first to get sick and they aren't claiming COVID-19 is some apocalyptic event... why not mention them?

Is COVID-19 bad? Sure, it is. People die from it.

But you're acting like catching this is the absolute worst thing that can happen to a person. You're even implying someone said people under 60 don't show symptoms, but I don't recall anyone ever saying that.

Try presenting the other side of the story.

It isn't all black and white.

If you really don't want to catch it, stay home and don't move, and you'll be safe.

And prepare to stay home for two years, unless you think this is just going to magically vanish on its own.

Man, these soul-crushing video messages they shove down our throats every single day all about what's happening in Italy are seriously getting on my nerves. Just stay home, stay home, listen to the government, stay home, this disease isn't a joke, stay home... it's straight-up brainwashing. We don't get any news from the other 200 countries fighting COVID-19—some are winning, some aren't, but not one of those places has looked as much of a total disaster zone as Italy. If the average number of sick people and deaths is supposed to be "x," and you see some fluctuations up or down within expected ranges, but then Italy hits 10x or 20x or whatever (I'm not even looking at the numbers, I can't deal right now), then that doesn't tell us anything about the virus itself—it tells us everything we need to know about that country.

And our TV networks? They just obsess over Italy constantly. For crying out loud, show us something else! If you aren't going to report on things outside of Europe, at least show us how the Slovaks, Czechs, or Poles are handling it.

Honestly, it’s all on the media itself, you know? They realized early on that COVID-19 is basically a goldmine, so they’ve taken every little story and turned it into some massive, overblown spectacle, making everything sound a hundred times bigger than it actually is.

If this had even started thirty years ago, COVID-19 would have barely made a dent, I’m telling you—it would have passed by almost unnoticed compared to the absolute circus we’re seeing right now.

Look, it’s not nothing—Plenković was holding those private meetings with the press

Yesterday they were making this huge deal out of photos showing mass graves in New York, only for it to turn out that's just how they bury the homeless there. I read somewhere you see similar sights during harsh winters too—it just doesn't make the news when it happens then.

If this had all gone down a hundred years ago, honestly, nobody would have even known what hit them because the media wouldn't have cared and, more importantly, we didn't even have the specific demographic that's most at risk today.
I mean, who actually knows how many times this little virus has jumped from bats to humans throughout history, but it probably never caused much of a stir until we reached a point where we have such a massive critical mass of people over 80 and those seriously ill patients who are essentially being kept going by the sheer power of modern American medicine.

So I read yesterday that those stories about doctors in Italy having to decide who gets a ventilator and who doesn't were total fake news. The media basically took a tiny spark and turned it into a massive wildfire just to freak everyone out.

Seriously, if we actually want to put this whole mess behind us, we need to start following the standard guidelines and stop making things harder than they need to be.

The whole narrative seems to be, "Look at how bad things got in Italy, so just leave us alone in quarantine."

But then again, Italy has already been under lockdown for a month now.

Basically, countries like Italy, Spain, France, and the UK all show pretty much the same mortality rate relative to total cases.

But like we said before, once the dust settles and we have the final numbers, we can actually have a real discussion.

It isn't "fake news," nor is it chaos. If people just follow the guidelines to let this first wave pass—giving medical staff a chance to breathe, slowing the spread so people can recover naturally without overwhelming the hospitals—then everything should be fine.

The virus will stick around until a vaccine is found, obviously, but the goal right now is to slow down the spread and gradually ease things up, hoping they find a cure or at least something to speed up recovery if a vaccine isn't ready. We definitely won't be back to normal in two or three months, and there might even be occasional lockdowns for those who haven't caught it yet, but we'll certainly have a much clearer picture of the whole situation by then...
