Joseph Clark37 said:Is that why today's outdoor Mass in front of the church wasn't stopped, even though the Police are usually so quick to disperse similar gatherings elsewhere?

Joseph Clark37 said:We aren't discussing the priest or who is leading the service. We are talking about large groups of people gathered at an inappropriate distance from one another. Why is it that in this specific instance, one set of rules applies to them, while everyone else follows different ones?...

It would be nice if we could just decide whether we're discussing the service itself or the people attending, but hey, fine.

So, you're asking why the service wasn't interrupted. Well, it wasn't because, according to church law, you can't just stop it—and besides, the police aren't supposed to intervene inside religious properties (just look at what happened during those veteran protests over at Times Square).
Since a priest is conducting the service, he's naturally part of the conversation. Plus, technically, the service wasn't held outdoors.
Services have been happening every single day throughout this entire pandemic, so there's really no reason for them to be stopped.

And honestly, the people who showed up weren't even on parish property—they were on someone else's private land. A reporter from Yahoo mentioned they actually checked IDs for a few people.

In other words, are you trying to suggest that church law supersedes the law of the land? That priests enjoy immunity from state law?
We are well aware of that.

I honestly fail to understand how everyone is overlooking the glaring issue here—that this reporter, operating entirely without authorization or permission, filmed a Holy Mass she had absolutely no intention of actually attending? 🤷
How long are we going to allow journalists to act with such total impunity, doing whatever they please without facing any semblance of accountability?
Or perhaps the real issue is simply that she’s a woman—if a man had been shut down that aggressively, there wouldn't be a peep, but apparently, you can't even lay a finger on a woman, regardless of how much nonsense she pulls...
Or was it just a matter of needing a different woman to take her down?

Why shouldn't I be allowed to film a public event like a beauty pageant, which is open to anyone who wants to attend? Whose permission am I supposed to be seeking? I'm just sitting here waiting for Paul Martinez73's lawyer to point me toward some specific legal statute that actually forbids it.

Hand on heart, this happens all the time because of the endless stream of tourists—mostly from Asia—swarming through St. Patrick's Cathedral every single Sunday. 😬

Alright, here’s a little roast for ZZ and his baptism. 🤣
One guy’s an asshole just because he’s an asshole. Simple as that. 🙏
steelharbor9 and the Holy Mass 🤣
There’s always that one person who jumps headfirst into a debate without having the slightest clue what the actual conversation is even about. It’s honestly exhausting. They just dive in, loud and wrong, acting like they’ve got all the answers when they haven't even read the room, let alone the thread. It's like watching someone try to perform surgery with a plastic spork—just pure, unadulterated chaos for no reason. Just sit this one out if you don't know the context, man. Seriously. 🙏 🤣 😍

So, the deputy chief over at PUSD is claiming they were out there doing field checks on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday at 8 AM—all officially logged. But honestly? There was nobody around during those times—except for people showing up for Holy Mass at 10. Regarding this morning's service, he’s basically saying everyone stuck to the one-meter distancing rules, and there's nothing more he can do about it.

Honestly, the massive elephant in the room is that nursing home over on El Paso Street. They’ve got 45 infected people there and people are actually dying—all chronic patients, obviously—which is a much bigger deal. Heads should be rolling for that, but instead, we're wasting time obsessing over some clueless cop and someone's phone being snatched.

If you were running that nursing home, I bet you'd be feeling pretty calm right about now. ☕

I am talking about this morning's outdoor Mass held right in front of the church. Regardless of how much anyone tries to play lawyer and claim otherwise, it qualifies as an outdoor gathering. Try applying that same logic elsewhere and see if the police don't show up to disperse you—and if you refuse, they'll arrest you. Take what I witnessed recently near Milwaukee: people were standing several feet apart, nowhere near as close as they were this morning over at Sirobuja, yet the police still came to move them along. One person refused to step away and was forcibly taken into custody.
Masses are being held every day during the pandemic without a crowd present. You see them on TV almost daily. Fortunately, most priests are conscientious and follow the guidelines. The exception is this old rural type from Sirobuja, whose actions undermine and spit on the sacrifices made by all the other church workers who are following pandemic protocols. It's the same with the people gathering at this Mass, disrespecting the rest of us believers who stay home and watch on television. Given the neighborhood, I'm not surprised there's a handful of selfish, reckless idiots...
If that deputy chief thinks the one-meter social distancing rule for outdoors applies to everyone equally, he might as well just pin the blame on someone else entirely. That's all I have to say on the matter...

Meanwhile, you walk into any store and there's always more than five people waiting—honestly, in some of the bigger places, I've seen like ten workers on staff at once. It's a joke. I wonder what kind of "scientific method" they used to come up with that number five?

From what I can tell over the last few days, most of the new infections are hitting nursing homes. I’m guessing they're mostly private facilities—I mean, judging by those recent segments on investigative news shows, it seems like any random person can walk in and get a job there, so it’s hardly surprising.

In our facility in Placer, we have 12 positive residents. Over in our Dubrovnik home, we ran 133 swabs in the last 24 hours, and all results came back yesterday. We have six positives there: five residents, one staff member, plus we already had one resident testing positive previously. We also run a smaller facility called "Florence" in Seget Vranjic where there's one positive resident. In Makarska, we have three positive residents and one staff member, and in Dicm, we have two positives.

So basically, out of 50 new cases today, 24 of them trace back to nursing homes.🙏

And who’s actually to blame here? It's not like you can just pop up a nursing home overnight in your backyard. That state-run facility over on Main Street is where we're seeing the highest infection rates, anyway.

Honestly, the constant drop in infection numbers here in Los Angeles (only 5 new cases today!) totally baffles me, especially since half the city is out on the streets all day long. I’m going to go quickly knock on every single wooden surface I have in my apartment.
