Man, it just sounds so smooth when you say it out loud🙏

He was always rocking those helmets that looked straight out of a Hannibal Lecter movie🙏

weak on both San and Heinz-Harald Frentzen, even if he doesn't slide quite as much

When it comes to names that just roll right off the tongue, I guess you can't beat El Hadji Diouf.

Ethan Cook said:Oh, brilliant. I couldn't for the life of me remember his name—the guy was basically flying through the air on skis like nobody else.

The technique is actually pretty flawless. Ahonen had great form too, whereas Peterka looks kind of awkward when he's in flight. 😄

pure perfection 😉

By the way, I was watching this documentary about ski jumpers recently. Apparently, quite a few of them struggle with alcohol issues.

Individual Sports - Lance Armstrong (I guess Usain Bolt is his only real competition)

Looking at them as sporting icons—who’s the GOAT at first glance?

Team sports — Jordan, Wayne Gretzky, Babe Ruth, Pelé, Diego Maradona
Individual sports — Muhammad Ali, Usain Bolt, Michael Phelps, Roger Federer, Tiger Woods

Goldberger could probably crush cocaine for breakfast, and when they kicked him out, he wanted to jump for Mexico. In the end, though, he didn't 🤣
What kind of athletes even are these? Like my colleague said earlier, everyone seems to be on some kind of bender. haha.

Honestly, that Olympics channel is such a goldmine. You can find a massive variety of stuff on there—things you’d probably never bother watching otherwise (though, let's be real, the current situation changes everything)

Like, three weeks ago I was watching this Italian woman doing rhythmic gymnastics, and man, she had absolutely no clue just how much physical stuff is actually possible out there

It also makes me think back to Wayde van Niekerk taking down Johnson. I don't think I'll be seeing anything that wild happen again anytime soon, if that's even possible.

For me, ski jumping was always such an incredible sport, right up there with football and basketball. I used to follow every single competition. However, due to some personal reasons, I had to stop watching for a while, and I guess I just never really got back into the habit. It’s a bit of a shame, honestly. 😁
I can still recall the lineups from over 25 years ago—teams from Finland, Norway, Italy, France, the Czech Republic, Austria, Canada, or even back during the days of America and Japan.
The absolute strongest era was definitely those three guys from the Czech Republic: Jiří Parma, Pavel Ploc, and František Jež. 😁

It’s honestly tough to put into words how you managed to claim someone was the greatest basketball player ever at age 21 and then immediately surpass that on the very same day, but hey, you did it! Congrats, I guess. But seriously, he is never going to be seen as a respected athlete again. Never.

I guess that was just how things were during that era and how the sport operated. He’s paid the ultimate price for his mistakes, and I don't think anyone is disputing that. But his journey through cancer recovery and then dominating one of the most physically demanding sports out there is probably unprecedented in sports history. Nobody else conquered those Tours quite like he did, and everyone knows it. I feel like I can say this because I don't feel the need to hide behind politeness or fake correctness. I’ve followed cycling for a long time, and I actually prefer riding my bike over walking. Despite all the controversy and the penalties, I still think he’s an incredible athlete. Based on medical estimates, his chances of surviving, let alone making a full recovery, were almost nonexistent. As for chemotherapy, I really hope none of us here ever have to experience it (though one guy here unfortunately does know what that's like). For him to continue competing after all that and become one of the top athletes in the world is something else. That won't be forgotten, and even a hundred years from now, people will know what he achieved. People will remember that he fell from grace and lost his titles, but they'll also remember the incredible story. Personally, that’s why I remember him—not just for the trophies or the bans.

Man, seriously. Imagine some guy being told he should freeze his sperm because his wife wants kids, even though he won't be around to see them. Then, despite all that, he pulls through and actually makes it happen? That dude deserves a massive Toreov standing ovation. Like, for real.

And look, he’s definitely not the only one. Everyone’s been caught doping at some point—there isn't a single clean cyclist left in the bunch.

If you ask me what Bill would say about this whole situation, he’d probably just laugh and tell us to stop acting so shocked because let's be real, everyone is doing it these days and everyone knows it, but we've always been the absolute best at the whole doping game 🙏🙏

When it comes to handball, if you ask me, Karabatić is in a league of his own—no competition at all. That career was just something else 😂
Of course, my personal favorite will always be Ivano ☕

GQ has to frame things this way because he knows the truth about that little mini-dictator is going to come out pretty soon anyway, so he’s basically just setting himself up to say he hasn't changed his mind once the dust settles and he can claim he stood his ground the whole time.
