Guys—I’m thinking about tracking the officiating in this season's MLS matches with hawk-eye precision. Is that even feasible?

Your take is pretty blind compared to the actual analysis on these forums—so I’m really not following what you're asking for here 🤷

The new season of Premier League kicks off in just 11 days, and we've got the Community Shield happening this weekend. I'm wondering if a new thread is coming our way soon, and if anyone has already grabbed the spot to start it?

I'm actually installing Windows right now before heading out to the game. Once I get this sorted in an hour or so, I'll post an update.

Honestly, since things have gone completely sideways on the Soccer board—especially over at American Soccer where new trolls seem to pop up every single day and actual discussion has just vanished...
Who’s even running the moderation over there? If I drop a single insult, someone hits me with a 500-point penalty instantly, yet these trolls can sign up and run wild in the threads without anyone lifting a finger; they just keep posting indefinitely.
Is there any hope of turning the American Soccer sub-forum back into a decent place to write, or has it already spiraled past the point of no return?

depending on what you consider an appropriate place for discussion 🤷
we can push for groupthink—get aggressive toward anyone who doesn't fall in line with the majority—but then what’s the point of a forum? just so everyone can sit around patting each other on the back?
not everyone who gets labeled a troll actually is one. in American soccer circles, it’s become standard practice to slap a "troll" tag on anyone expressing an opinion that deviates from the herd, basically making a fool out of them for having a different take.
as for the actual trolls, sure, they sometimes linger longer than they should, but nobody can be lurking here 24/7. we all have jobs, college, lives... some people supposedly have plenty of time for other things too 🤮.
you see how the market looks right now—everyone’s heading to Europe or looking for remote work, nobody wants to grind for peanuts, let alone volunteer their time just so some club can sell ad clicks. honestly, we’re doing what we can, and since you guys aren't idiots, feel free to just ignore the morons. engaging with them just creates more work and gets less done.

I think we can all agree that even a year ago, the quality of posts and discussions here was twice what it is now. I’m not trying to be a contrarian, but when someone starts using their past reputation as a shield just to justify writing like that Overlord guy who still won't shut up... claiming he was "just being ironic" while actually just nuking every single debate in sight.
Constantly replying with the same tired questions and turning every discussion into an exhausting slog with certain people just kills the drive to participate.
But hey, maybe it's just me...

Look, I'm not moderating this thing anymore—honestly, I couldn't care less what happens or who steps up to write. I’ve laid out my reasons plenty of times already. The real issue here is Zeljac; his sheer laziness and the way he’s been blowing off my requests for the last six months—yeah, I ended up looking like the bigger idiot because I basically got brushed off after putting in a ton of work for this forum—totally killed our chance at getting a sportsbook to sponsor the league. I wouldn't moderate even if they were cutting me a check for $500 a month. So, feel free to strip my mod status—which, by the way, is something I asked to have done ages ago and was ignored. I barely use this site anymore; I just pop in every now and then.
Hey, my dear compatriot 😁, just hit the ignore button on anyone you think is an idiot or a troll. 😁 Because I certainly am.

And look, you aren't immune to those kinds of posts either—you end up hitting back with some one-liner, which just drags out a pointless argument that you already know is going nowhere. Thank God there's always someone else to jump on those posts, which is how the chaos starts.
That said, I completely agree with everyone else; management did a lousy job, and it's clearly affecting the rest of the forum.

@Paul Martinez73, don't start whining when you get trolled in a few days—just like you did on that US-UK thread. ☕

Not really.
American soccer has been unreadable for years—and ever since the big money owners took over teams like the one in Seattle, things have just spiraled. That’s just how it is. Not much has changed in the last year, except for the noticeable decline of the "National League" project—which brought in a wave of critics people don't like, along with the usual trolls. But the actual quality of the debates? It hasn't really fluctuated that much.
That whole PDF thing is pretty useless now—it just scatters the users, which kills the discussion on the main board. The idea was solid at first, but much like the state of the league itself, it’s been degrading for years. If you stripped away the "Fan Corner"—which is basically the only clinic left worth visiting—the traffic would be about as lively as a graveyard in rural Nebraska.
But like I said, there's neither the will nor the manpower to fix it—and that isn't just an issue with the National League project, but with this entire forum.

I’m all for punishing people when they don't contribute to the discussion. Points just pile up over time... I've got more than I can count myself, though I never bothered to ask why or how, nor did I ever complain once they landed in my account.
When I troll, I troll... and I’m more than happy to deal with whatever fallout comes my way.
He’s just full of it, spinning the same old story and recycling the same tired quotes from the same old threads every single week... including all those new accounts that'll probably just log back in once they realize they've been played.

This guy still hasn't posted anything useful, honestly, just drop some stats or a breakdown in this thread for us, please 🤦

Ever thought about just... not trolling? 🤔
