Steven Jackson13 said:Oh, please—you’re completely missing my point here... what I’m saying is that while there is some suspicion regarding transmission via kissing, we have to consider the context. They were also sexually active—though they used protection, mind you—so we can't simply rule out the possibility that the transmission happened through intercourse instead of a kiss. In other words, that one single instance everyone is pointing to is highly questionable... do you follow me? Medical experts have stated that there hasn't been a single documented case of this happening, you know? You really might want to watch out for that unlucky owl...😂

Look, if you aren't following me, it’s the same logic as not being able to prove whether it was a kiss or sex in this specific case—but the consensus is leaning toward sexual contact because, statistically speaking, it's way more likely.

Oh, I get it perfectly fine, thank you very much. But have you actually bothered to read a single medical article regarding transmission? In studies involving couples who only engaged in kissing—both positive and negative cases—there was zero recorded transmission. Do you understand what that implies? It means while it might be theoretically possible in some abstract sense, it simply hasn't been documented... it hasn't...
I remember posting about this once on a thread started by some guy who was himself positive—if I could find his profile right now, I’d ask him directly—but that was years ago and I wasn't dwelling on the specifics back then. Just imagine if we told every young person out there who has only ever kissed someone and never had sex to go run into a testing clinic; the lines would be out the door! And then, when the nurse asks, "Have you had any high-risk sexual encounters?" they'd all just say, "No, I'm a virgin..."

So, I actually posted in that thread started by the guy who was HIV+ back when I went to get tested myself. You know, just so I wouldn't spend my entire life wondering if my boyfriend had passed something on to me. Turns out, I was fine—the test came back negative—and I haven't had to worry since. But I’ve strictly stuck to protected sex every single time, and now I read this? That you could catch it through a kiss? Give me a break. For a hypochondriac like me, that is just way too much to process... 😂

Steven Jackson13 said:So, I was grabbing coffee with some girlfriends the other day, and one of them brings up this rumor she heard—apparently, there’s even been a case where HIV was transmitted through kissing. Honestly, it sent me into a bit of a tailspin. Now I’m sitting here wondering how on earth I’m supposed to advise my kid once they start heading out on dates. My dear, please—don't go catching feelings (or anything else) during those goodbye kisses unless you actually know someone's status... I had already planned out this whole serious talk about safe sex, but now I have to factor in kissing too? Good grief... 🙂 What should I even suggest?

Honestly, just tell her to watch who she gets in a car with. There's a much higher chance she'll get into a wreck with some reckless teenager than actually catching HIV from a kiss.

So, I had this weird encounter the other day where some random woman bit my finger. 😁 She seemed pretty promiscuous, which got me thinking—is it actually possible to contract HIV through a bite like that? I mean, she definitely broke the skin, and I noticed some bleeding a few minutes later.

If you have any questions regarding HIV or how it's transmitted, please head over to the existing threads dedicated specifically to HIV (and AIDS).
