swiftangler91 said:So, here’s the situation. I’m 16. My period started right before 7th grade and it’s always been irregular. It finally seemed to settle down earlier this year—I could actually predict when it was coming—but that only lasted about two months. I haven't had any sex with my boyfriend, just heavy petting. Based on my math, I should have gotten it a few days ago, but nothing. Instead, I’ve had this brown discharge with a really unpleasant smell for a couple of days now. I'm starting to get a bit worried because I have no idea what this is or why my period is missing again. Last year, I would skip two or three months at a time and then it would just show up out of nowhere and everything would be fine. Usually, when it does come, the bleeding is incredibly heavy. But right now, I’m lost. Please let me know if you know what this might be or if you've dealt with something similar. Thanks in advance..

Honey, you need to see a doctor. You likely have some kind of inflammatory process caused by a bacterium. This definitely needs treatment, so please don't put off seeing a specialist; if you leave it alone, things can get much more complicated, and trust me, you do not want to deal with those kinds of complications.
In the future, when you're petting, make sure both you and your boyfriend have clean hands, because you can pass stuff like this around with dirty hands. If you guys practice oral sex, you absolutely have to use a condom. The mouth is also a breeding ground for bacteria that you can pass to him, and he can pass back to you; if he's carrying something, it can settle right into your throat or tonsils.

I’ve been dealing with some white, cottage cheese-like vaginal discharge for a while now and I really want to get rid of it. I’ve looked through similar threads, but I still can't figure out what's going on.
There’s no irritation, redness, or itching—just the discharge.
Anyone have any advice?

Where do you go for your gynecologist appointments?

Take a look at the posts on the forum here, under the "Health" section, just a little further down from your thread; there’s a specific topic dedicated to Candida. That’s likely what you're dealing with. Go through those posts and then head over to your gynecologist so they can prescribe you something proper.

I saw a thread titled Candida, but all I have is discharge. No irritation or anything else.

Regarding medication, is Plimycol any good?

You can use Plimycol for all sorts of things, pretty much the same way you’d use Rojazol... and yeah, you can grab both over the counter at any local pharmacy without needing a prescription.
But honestly? Your best bet is to just go see a gynecologist. They’re the ones who can actually pin down exactly what’s going on with you.

If you don't treat it, things could get messy, and trying to fix it with the wrong stuff can lead to its own set of problems, too.

Personally, I’m leaning toward thinking it’s just some mild inflammation. It probably happened because your pH levels got thrown out of whack, which basically gave bacteria an open invitation to move in.

Do you seriously think getting a diagnosis from a forum is going to lead to you actually getting meds??? 🙄

Hey everyone, I’ve got a bit of an issue here. For about two weeks now, I’ve been dealing with this constant stinging sensation whenever I pee, and even if I just touch the area a little too roughly.
First off, I was going to the bathroom constantly before. I was on antibiotics for a bladder infection, which cleared that part up, but now the frequency has gone back to normal and yet the burning hasn't left me—plus, I’ve got this persistent white discharge that just won't quit. I'm heading to my gynecologist this Monday, and honestly, I just don't want to be totally blindsided when they tell me what's going on, so has anyone else dealt with something similar? Please, I could really use some help or any advice you might have.

Maybe they're just looking for some info or a bit of direction on what to do next. Is there really a need to go on the attack immediately?

Yeah, if you’ve actually been diagnosed with Candida. But like you said: nobody is going to diagnose you over the internet (and honestly, we wouldn't even want to), so just take that first bit of advice—even if it's disappointing—and go see a gynecologist.🙂 😎

Because she already got the standard advice: Go see a doctor. She clearly wasn't feeling that.

Then came the diagnosis: It’s Candida, but even that didn't sit right with her.

Then she was told to try Plimycol. That one she actually listened to, but then she started questioning the third suggestion.

And it just goes on like that forever... 🙂 😁 😁

So, let me run it back (not an attack, just a rhetorical question): Are you seriously looking for medical answers on a Forum? Obviously—go see a doctor. 🙂 😎

You might have bacteria in your urine or your vagina. Either way, you're getting hit in both spots. Go get a urine analysis and see a gynecologist to treat both. That's it.

It’s pretty obvious you’re dealing with an infection that likely cropped up right alongside a bladder infection. While antibiotics are great at clearing out the bladder issues, they often come with a nasty little side effect: triggering a fungal overgrowth. Personally, after finishing a round of antibiotics once, I felt like my nether regions were practically on fire. For me, a good cream and some vaginal suppositories were the only way to get things back to normal.
That being said, your best bet is to go see a gynecologist. It's better to let a professional run the diagnostics and give you a proper diagnosis rather than guessing.

I honestly got the vibe she’s just waiting on a prescription name so she can bolt straight to the pharmacy.

And honestly, talking about some "cheesy discharge" doesn't really help when you're trying to deal with actual medical stuff.

One quick trip to the OB-GYN will clear her head entirely—she'll get her treatment, feel taken care of, and finally stop stressing about her own body.

I feel like way too many women brush off gynecological issues, even though they impact everything and can actually become serious health risks if ignored.

Maybe I was guilty of that once or twice myself—there's really no excuse for it, though. It’s just pure laziness and neglecting yourself, and let's be real, our health should always come first.

Plus, from experience, being overly "gentle" doesn't exactly help people wake up when it comes to managing their health.

I went through the exact same thing. They kept handing me vaginal wipes and creams, only for my gynecologist to tell me everything was totally fine in the end.🤷
Like, my ovaries just dump white discharge right before my period, then it turns clear after, and the burning comes along with it.
Let us know what the doctor says.🙂

I’ve been dealing with the exact same thing—saw my gynecologist, but apparently, no therapy helps since it’s just an issue with unbalanced microflora..
I mean, she told me this is totally common and there's no need to worry..
but she isn't the one living with it!

I was expecting my period to show up, but nothing yet... For the last three days, I've had this brownish, bloody discharge, similar to what I dealt with last month right before my cycle started. Now, in the meantime, I'm dealing with this cottage cheese-like discharge. Is it possible for a period to be late because of a yeast infection, inflammation, or whatever this discharge actually is?

Let's toss some beans at it and see what happens.🤷

Go to the gynecologist. Something is definitely wrong here. The missed period and the yeast infection don't necessarily have to be related.

My gynecologist is seeing me this Thursday, and I have to head back for a follow-up anyway... I already tried explaining everything about my period to him, but he just wouldn't stop talking long enough to listen properly.
