I need some advice from the experts here.

I went to my gynecologist for a routine checkup, including a PAP test and an ultrasound. It was day 18 of my cycle. Using the ultrasound, she spotted a follicle on my right ovary and told me it would likely rupture that evening, which meant my period might be slightly late since it usually arrives about 14 days after ovulation. However, my period showed up today—only 7 days after that supposed ovulation. Is it possible that what she saw wasn't actually a follicle, but some kind of cyst instead? Should I be digging deeper into this?

For context, my cycles are typically regular, averaging around 28 days. Today marks day 27.

Hi everyone, I really need some advice here. If anyone has dealt with something similar, please reach out.
So, during an abdominal ultrasound (which I went in for because I had blood in my urine and a nasty kidney infection), the doctor mentioned seeing something on my ovary. He wasn't entirely sure what it was, but he told me I needed to see a gynecologist immediately. Just for context, I go in for regular checkups, and back in December, everything was perfectly fine. I scheduled an appointment with my regular OB-GYN, and during the transvaginal ultrasound, the doctor told me my right ovary was twice its normal size. He noted a change on it about the same size as my other ovary, described it as having mixed density, and suggested we plan for a laparoscopy. He ordered ovarian tumor markers and a ROMA index, and gave me a referral to the National Front (the most prominent OB-GYN clinic in the country). I was absolutely terrified. Looking back, my right ovary has been aching for the last two months, but I didn't think it was anything serious at the time. Anyway, I got the bloodwork done, and while the markers were within the normal range, I’m still feeling pain. When I went to the clinic at the National Front, the doctor there was incredibly dismissive; he just brushed it off as a standard follicular cyst. Because I couldn't find any peace of mind, I sought a second opinion from another gynecologist. This doctor performed a much more thorough set of analyses and determined that my right ovary is polycystic, with one noticeable cyst that has actually shrunk to 2cm. He says it’s just an encapsulated follicle, that it isn't causing harm, and that I should just monitor it. But the pain still hits me occasionally, and it's weighing heavily on me. Has anyone else gone through something like this? Should I be looking into having this cyst removed? Even though he's trying to reassure me that everything is fine, I can't stop worrying.
P.s. My cycles are usually very regular. Aside from Hashimoto's and hypothyroidism, I don't have any other health issues.

book. 🙂
So, I was at the OBGYN last week, and during the ultrasound, the doctor mentioned that my left ovary is sitting right up against my uterus, if that makes sense. Just wondering if any other girls deal with this too? Does it actually cause issues down the road, like maybe during pregnancy? 🤔

Hi there! I’m looking for some experienced voices to help me "calm down" this weekend.😵

I hope I’ve landed in the right spot here. I was at an ultrasound appointment today, and the results show a 13 mm fibroid and a corpus luteum of 20 mm. I actually asked the technician performing the scan to explain what that meant, since I’ve never dealt with anything like this before—even though I stay on top of my regular gynecological exams and ultrasounds. The guy who performed the scan was honestly such a jerk; he’s one of those people you hear about constantly in the news lately, and he wouldn't tell me a single thing. He just pivoted the monitor toward me for a second so I could see the fibroid. He pointed at it three times, finally realizing I was completely spiraling, and then tried to smooth things over by saying it wasn't important and everything was fine. It was the exact same story with the corpus luteum. He made a face like the situation was incredibly serious, only to backtrack and claim it wasn't scary either. I felt so unsettled afterward, even though his assistant told me everything was perfectly normal and that I shouldn't worry—and then she just went about her business like nothing had happened. I kept pushing him to explain things to me in plain English, since I'm a layperson who has never faced these kinds of issues, but he just brushed me off, saying my own doctor would explain everything when I see them on Monday. Now, naturally, I'm a nervous wreck.

Of course, I ended up Googling, and that fibroid is doing nothing to ease my mind. Even the corpus luteum doesn't seem to be flagged as a problem anywhere online, but I just can't shake that look on his face or the fact that he refused to give me any real answers. I have until Monday to try and wrap my head around all of this.😵

Does anyone here have any experience with this?

Does anyone here have experience dealing with ovarian cysts? I was just diagnosed with an 8x6 cm follicular cyst, and my laparoscopy is already scheduled for November. The thing is, I’m feeling this constant stabbing sensation on both sides, even though the cyst is specifically on my left ovary. Has anyone actually had a cyst rupture before their surgery? What are the symptoms like? How intense is the pain?

I’m dealing with this too... For a long time, I was just reading these threads and wondering how other women dealt with these issues. My cycles have always been regular, almost painless, and perfectly on schedule... until two months ago. First month, it was a week late. Then, instead of a normal period, I had some random spotting. It wouldn't stop, and after two weeks of constant bleeding, I finally went to see my OBGYN. Diagnosis: a cyst on my left ovary and a uterine polyp. I was in total shock. She prescribed Duphaston—two tablets a day for five days—to wait for my period to start. So, I took the medication, but the bleeding just kept going. Eventually, my period actually arrived, which I was relieved about. The bloating subsided, though it was heavier than usual, which I expected. It lasted six days, just like my normal cycle. On the eighth day, I went back to the doctor because I was still experiencing discharge. They did another ultrasound; the cyst hadn't ruptured, it was still there, but the polyp was gone. At least that's something. Now she's sent me to get my markers checked. I'm honestly overwhelmed. It feels like nothing, yet we still have to run tests to figure out the next steps. I'll go get them done tomorrow, and then we'll see what happens. That's my experience so far.

Has the size of the cyst been growing at all, or has it stayed pretty much the same? And do you know if they're planning to remove the whole ovary, too?? I'm actually in a similar boat with an 8.8x6.5 cm cyst myself, but for now, they're just monitoring it since I'm seven weeks pregnant. My tumor markers have been quite elevated lately, too...

Hi everyone 🙂
I've got an issue. My period is three days late, though I feel like it's coming any minute. My breasts are a bit sore. However, I'm also feeling pain specifically in my right ovary area—only on the right side. It’s uncomfortable but manageable, like a sharp, stabbing sensation. It hits harder when I make sudden movements or try to sit down; that's when it really hurts. Anyone dealt with this before?

Best to all

Hi there!
Has anyone by any chance dealt with a situation similar to mine? I’ve been diagnosed with a cyst—it's clear, no septations, no fluid flow, they say it's a follicular type. It fluctuates in size; sometimes it's 2cm, but at its largest, it hit about 5cm. I've noticed that if I drink certain herbal teas or if I'm on specific medication (I've cycled through verification, Duphaston, and Yaz over a 7-month period), it shrinks significantly, but it never actually disappears. My markers are fine, and my hormones are relatively steady; the LH to FSH ratio is 1:1, my androgens are low, progesterone is within range, but my prolactin is right at the upper limit and my estradiol is always under 100. It isn't below the reference range, but honestly, for a 26-year-old, it really ought to be higher. When I was on hormone therapy, I felt absolutely miserable and my hair started falling out, so going back on that is definitely not an option for me. Since my markers are also low, my doctors aren't recommending laparoscopy, but I'm genuinely worried—is it possible to just carry this cyst around forever? Ever since I started getting regular checkups, which was over 5 years ago, it has just been sitting there.🙄I would love to hear your thoughts or if anyone has gone through something similar.

I've been diagnosed with a clear cyst on my left ovary, about 4x3.5 cm. I'm currently waiting on further tests to figure out what we're dealing with. My PAPA and CA 125 markers came back normal, but the cyst hasn't disappeared or even shrunk since my last period. For about a month now, I've been feeling this sharp, stabbing sensation in my lower left abdomen specifically when I go to the bathroom, even though my urine cultures are sterile. I've also noticed I have to pee much more frequently lately; my gynecologist suggested this might be caused by the cyst itself since I don't have the typical symptoms of a bladder infection. I don't know... I've had cysts before, but I've never experienced this specific abdominal pain, so I'm really not sure what to make of it. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of stinging or stabbing pain during urination because of a cyst? There's no pain when I apply pressure and I generally feel healthy, but the moment I start urinating, there's always this uncomfortable pain on that exact same side. 😢Thanks for any advice or information you can share

I noticed nobody replied, so I figured I'd post an update for any other women dealing with this later on. In my case, it turned out to be a cyst that just resolved itself within two months—no surgery or anything needed—and all those urinary issues vanished right along with it. After my last post, I went to see a urologist for an ultrasound, and he confirmed my suspicions. He explained that because of where the cyst was located and its size, my pelvic muscles were basically tugging on the ovary during urination, which caused that sharp pain. He also noted that frequent urination can happen if a cyst presses against the bladder or kidney, creating that constant urge, and sometimes the bladder doesn't even empty fully, which can actually lead to a real infection (usually E. coli). Wishing everyone the best of luck if you're going through something similar. If anyone needs more details, feel free to reach out.👍
