There’s stuff available online, though I’m not really sure about what they keep in stock at the local shops... You can find protectors over at Pride, but I don't think they carry this specific model.

Those padded ones aren't actually meant for wrestling. You could just head to any local pharmacy and pick up some high-quality knee braces there.

If this were a Cliff Keen brand, I’d be interested. I’m not even sure they carry those here in the States. If you have a contact across the Atlantic, that might be your best bet for these specific ones, though there are plenty of other high-quality models out there.

Thanks for all the replies... they don't have to be specific, I just used Adidas as an example... could be any brand at this point

I just have no clue where to actually find them in NYC—or honestly, even in the States in general

I’ve been getting pretty curious about Muay Thai lately—just wondering what the scene is like there—and I was also hoping someone could give me the lowdown on what's happening over in Osijek... if anyone's willing to share some intel.

Hey everyone 🙂 I’ve been training some Jiu-Jitsu lately and I was wondering if anyone could point me toward where I can pick up some shin guards and gloves here in the States, and maybe give me some advice on which brands are actually worth the money. I’ve heard Adidas is the top tier choice, though I guess they might be pretty pricey too. Also, since I’m planning on entering a competition this April, I was curious about the gear requirements—do the gloves and pads strictly have to be blue or red, or would white ones be okay to use?

You could check out Rost Sport; they carry Adidas stuff. I actually swung by there earlier today. Prices seem to run somewhere around $350, $300 though I suppose it really depends on the quality you're looking for. 🙂

So, does Pride actually happen in the middle of the city? I saw some stuff about it online, but I honestly have no clue if they have a storefront or a physical shop located anywhere...

You’re over by Maksimir, somewhere between the Jordanovac tram stop and Bukovačka

The shop is located 20 meters toward Maksimir from the Jordanovac tram stop, on the left side.

Alright, thanks. I guess they probably have those guards and all that other nonsense over there anyway.🙂>

Andrew Mendoza9's latest post? I don't know. It felt a little thin to me. Not enough meat on the bones to really get a conversation going, just a single word hanging there like a question mark without the hook. Sometimes less is more, sure, but this was just... sparse. kaže:
I was at the local sports bar today checking out the action. Honestly, the prices there are getting ridiculous—they're charging like $350 for a round of drinks or something. Just feels way too steep. $300 It’s obviously about quality. 🙂

What kind of roast shop is that? I swung by that one in the suburbs today and they only had two models in stock. Not a single pair of Adidas to be found, and they’re charging $350 for them. Ridiculous.$133Regardless of everything else, would it actually be worth picking up a kimono at that price point—around $35—just to get started?

There's a Rost Sport near the community center. If I recall correctly, I saw three white ones and one blue one sitting there. It’s probably worth it, honestly. I've been using that basic Pride brand one for about a year and a half now, and I guess it still holds up fine, though maybe for actual competitions I really should look into getting something a bit higher end. And yeah, those Adidas ones are definitely better than the Pride stuff.🙂

Hey, I'm looking to get into learning some martial arts and was wondering if anyone knows anything about that Metalac club? Does anyone have the address, their training schedule, or even just an idea of what the monthly membership fees look like? Thanks!

Honestly, that's just pathetic... I mean, what is this, $350? Please. I need something actually worth my time than that junk xD

If you're interested, you should totally come by and check it out 😉
Plus, there are plenty of other crews training at local clubs, like the ones run by Majhen and Rostohar.

That’s interesting... how long have you been training?

Does anyone here have experience with this club or know anything about them? I see you guys have reviewed plenty of gyms, but this one is right in my backyard.
Mainly interested in their Muay Thai program.

btw: at 5'11" and 165 lbs, am I too small to get serious about Thai boxing? (currently sitting at 165 lbs)

If it helps at all, I've actually been training over at Vila Velebit for a while now... so if you have any specific questions, feel free to ask.

Anyone know an MMA gym in the city that runs morning sessions? If there are any, which ones actually show up early? Thanks.
