1. Where exactly is it located?
2. What are the membership fees and the training schedule?
3. How does enrollment work? Is there a specific intake period, or can I just show up whenever I want and join a group?

If you feel like sharing, tell me a bit about the crew, the facility, the coaches, etc.

Since I’m coming from the Dubrava neighborhood, this is pretty close to home. If my schedule clears up in October, I’m looking to get back into some recreational training😁.
If not in October, then sometime later in the fall...

The Ravnica gym is the smallest one, but honestly, it's the cleanest and most comfortable place to train. That said, if you're living out near Dubrava, the gym over on Stefanovecka 10 would be much closer for you. It's a favorite among the grapplers. Take the first right by the jewelry store, follow the road until you hit that big green office building, and the gym is tucked right behind it. I'm not 100% sure about the exact membership cost, but I think it's somewhere around $200$100. Currently, all the classes at Ravnica are full, but there's still room for you at the Stefanovecka location. The Ravnica spot is right by Phoenix Computers. The crowd there is solid—mostly good guys, with a few women mixed in too. You don't need to worry about the coaches; personally, they're great people who are very understanding, and professionally, they're experienced and really know their stuff. If you head to Stefanovecka 10, the times work out well—they have sessions at 9 PM and then on Saturdays around 4 or 5 PM.👍

What’s everyone’s take on this?
Is there anything even remotely similar over in NYC? If not—which I'm guessing is a safe bet—what would be the closest thing to it? (Ideally somewhere in Manhattan or Brooklyn, just around those areas.)

Krav Maga. It’s more than just a system; it’s a necessity for anyone looking to truly understand self-defense.
I know you can find plenty of options at the flea market.
There might be more out there somewhere, though I can't say for certain.

Check out this Krav Maga site:

This is a bit off-topic, but I don't get why everyone keeps sending that link to people who can't decide.
I mean, how can a few simple questions actually help someone pick the "right" martial art?
Consider the fact that one of the questions asks what kind of pants you prefer, and apparently, that dictates your entire training path.
Personally, I find it totally useless 😕
. In this day and age, you can find detailed information about almost any discipline online.

You missed the joke. 🙄 Though, even in a joke, there's usually a grain of truth... 😛

On the other hand, if you have no interest in striking, why bother with Karate? There’s actually some logic to those questions after all... 😁

Hey, let’s not be sarcastic here—I was just asking nicely. 😛

Here's an example response:
"Do you like dressing up in costumes, even in places where there are other people?"

option - "Possibly"

"After deep contemplation, the Advisor concludes that you should be walking along the path of Aikido."

Does anyone know of any martial arts clubs in
Vicksburg, Mississippi? Aside from karate, I don't really know what else is out there.

Boxing, Muay Thai, MMA... you name it, I'm all in. These are the real deals. There’s nothing quite like the grit of a heavy hitter or the technical precision of a striker. Pure adrenaline.

Megan White4 said:This thread is for anyone looking to get into martial arts but feeling lost regarding the what, where, when, or how. If you have specific questions about gym locations, different disciplines, training schedules, tournaments, or seminars, please feel free to ask.

I’d ask my fellow members to keep things concise here—please stick to answering the questions asked rather than veering into long-winded debates.

I'm curious—do you happen to know how one might track down Peter Naranja's email address? I would be incredibly grateful for any leads... cheers!

I'm curious about what kind of (medical) damage we're talking about when a 16 or 17-year-old kid with average muscle mass takes a high kick to the face. He did Taekwondo for a few years, though he hasn't stepped foot in a dojang in two years—but yeah, the guy can definitely pull his leg up to his head.

It’s a pretty basic question, I know, but I’m just wondering what the fallout looks like, roughly speaking.

Thanks for understanding.
