I watched it once. Since John Malkovich didn't actually write the script, someone else had to develop the vision instead of just following his... which means he probably had to step in and help out on certain parts to make sure his influence was felt. You can definitely see his touch in there.

To film is one of those rare, surreal experiences that somehow manages to make perfect sense despite its strangeness... I had high hopes that this adaptation would capture that same level of fascination

It’s weird, but man, it’s good. Kudos to the screenwriter Kaufman—we definitely shouldn't lose stories this crazy. "Adaptation" is a total masterpiece and easily one of my all-time favorites.

To me, "Being John Malkovich" was nothing short of revolutionary; I had simply never encountered anything quite like it before. I actually watched the adaptation later on, and I remember being genuinely taken aback by the fact that the lead romantic actor—to my absolute astonishment—was missing a front tooth. You just don't see that kind of raw realism in modern American cinema anymore. While the entire narrative is phenomenal, I found myself struggling with the ending. It didn't quite resonate with me, though I suppose that is ultimately a matter of personal taste.

He was fully intending to start a discussion about it today, but the moderator stepped in and shut him down before he could get started.

The movie is garbage. It’s just a collection of clichés we've seen a thousand times before.👍
