Was that actually mentioned in Cosmo? I think I have that issue with my copy—the very last one, or maybe the one before that... I can't quite recall which. The whole idea behind Yasmin is supposed to be that it uses a hormone remarkably similar to what our bodies produce naturally. The theory is that it won't trigger that typical water retention. Most women find themselves struggling with sudden weight gain or cellulite once they start on oral contraceptives, so this specific hormonal approach in Yasmin is intended to prevent those exact side effects.

Was that actually in there? In the Cosmo article? I think I have that specific issue—the second to last one or something... yeah, that's the one. The whole deal with Yasmin is supposed to be about having a hormone that mimics the natural stuff so you don't deal with all that water retention. Most women end up complaining about cellulite and gaining weight once they start on birth control pills, but apparently, the hormone in Yasmin is meant to stop that from happening.

Yeah, that’s the one. The penultimate issue. Spot on. I was just looking back at my own history and seeing how much my weight swung around depending on what I was on. I was heaviest on Stediril M, then dealt with more cellulite on Cilest, but with Yasmin, I actually dropped about 13 pounds without even changing my diet. Anyway, we're getting off topic here.😳

John Thomas2 said:That’s what the label said. I honestly think Yasmin works because it contains a specific ingredient people talk about all the time (I’ve actually looked into this, trust me 😁), and it really does help reduce cellulite. Personally, I noticed a significant difference in my weight compared to when I was on Cilest...

If I start taking those, am I going to be running to the bathroom even more than I do now? Good grief... 😁 😁

Drospirenone? 🤔

Drospirenone is a newer, synthetic progestagen with unique properties—for instance, it can help prevent the body from retaining excess water.

Yeah, that’s me—the second to last one on the list. Exactly. I was just looking back at my history and seeing how much my weight fluctuated depending on which pill I was on. I went through the Stediril M phase (definitely my heaviest period), then moved to Celest (which seemed to trigger more cellulite issues), and finally settled on Yasmin—where I actually dropped about 13 pounds without even touching my diet. But whatever, we’re getting off topic here.

Now, if you ask my OB-GYN, they’ll tell you straight to your face that these pills don't have a single calorie in them.🙂
Yet, if you actually read the fine print on the Yasmin packaging, it claims it causes the least amount of water retention... which has to be a massive win in my book, considering Celest left me feeling completely bloated and swollen all the time.🙄

but the Yasmin pamphlet says they cause water retention at the very least... which has to be a win since Celebrex used to make me feel totally bloated.🙄

Exactly... I don't think you actually get fat FROM THE PILLS, it's just that damn water retention and bloating making the scale jump around.🙄

Look, I’m not saying you gain fat FROM taking pills... I mean, obviously not. What I’m talking about is that damn water retention and the bloating—that's where the scale goes haywire. It's just pure fluid weight.

Fair enough, but seriously, how much can the scale actually swing? My face and ankles were looking completely swollen... I mean, how many pounds are we even talking about here? 😁

I polished off three beers. I was starving, honestly—felt like a T-Rex that hadn't eaten in ages. 🤣

Hey, quick question... I was on Cilest for a while and then switched over to Yasmin. I took my usual seven-day break before starting the new pack, but then I read somewhere that you aren't actually supposed to have a gap when switching birth control brands—that you should just start the new ones immediately without any days off.
So... does anyone here have any experience with this?

On another note, I feel like I’ve been gaining quite a bit of weight since starting Yasmin. Should I just stop taking it and go back to Cilest?
I'd appreciate some help. My gynecologist is insisting that Yasmin is the best option and says I should just stick with it since I've already started.
Thanks.

Just finish the pack you're on and let your body adjust. I think Yasmin is much lower in hormones than Cilest and is easier on the liver. It’ll probably take two or three packs before things settle down.

I don't quite follow. You finish your last cycle, take your standard break, and then start the new brand just like you would with the old one. That's exactly what I did, following my doctor's orders, and everything turned out fine. In my case, it was the same type of pill, and I eventually went back to Cilest because they suit me better.

I switched from Diane-35 to Yasmin, and my doctor told me to take the standard 7-day break because the body can handle the switch itself; it doesn't need an additional two-month hormone gap on top of everything else. Well, I finished my first pack of Yasmin and ended up getting way more spotting than I ever experienced in my life. But I guess it probably takes a few months for the system to adjust. Honestly, I'd say wait about three months to see how you settle in with Yasmin before making any big decisions about jumping back to Cilest.

Why on earth would you miss your period during a break?

What I meant was, what if the bleeding stops because instead of taking that standard seven-day break when switching from one brand of pills to another, someone just starts the new pack the very next day after finishing the old one? The instructions for Yasmin actually say you don't need a seven-day gap when transitioning to them, but like I said before, my doctor suggested I take the break anyway just so my system doesn't take too much of a shock.

There’s quite a lot going on here... I think I’ll stick with Yasmin for a little while longer—but if my skin doesn't start behaving soon, I’m heading straight back to Celest. Honestly, Celest always did wonders for my complexion, whereas this current situation is nothing short of a disaster.
How long does it usually take for the body to actually adjust to these tablets?

I'm assuming it varies from person to person, but based on what my OB-GYN tells me, you're looking at at least three months.

When I transitioned from Triquilar to Yasmin, my doctor told me to take a one-week break, though she did advise being extra careful with protection because the hormone levels are lower—basically, until my body adjusts to the new hormonal balance, I needed to be cautious... but honestly, I think I saw that mentioned in the instructions too.🤔

Hey there!

I was on Diane 35 for a long time, but they started hitting my stomach pretty hard, so I ditched them about six months ago. Went to see my doctor and the OB-GYN switched me over to Yasmin. I’ve been on it for exactly ten days now, and honestly? I feel like I’ve become super depressed since I started. Like, I’ve had my low moments before, but nothing ever felt this heavy or weird. Other than that, no other side effects. Just wondering if anyone else has dealt with this kind of mood stuff... Maybe it's just me having a rough patch, maybe it's not even the Yasmin, but I really can't tell...

Pretty much... I honestly find myself spiraling into a funk quite often since I started taking them, though I guess I was already prone to the blues before, not to mention the total death of my libido... which is actually what bugs me way more.

It isn't coming from Yasmina, but rather from Cilest... just this constant, heavy depression. I’ve always been a bit of an emotional person—that’s just how I’m wired—but this feels like it's far too much to handle. The crying, the overwhelming sensitivity... it's just constant.
I told myself I’d hold off on finishing the third box, but if this doesn't let up soon, these pills are going straight into the trash. I simply can't function like this normally.
