First it was the protesters in tents, now it's the strikers

The Republicans just can't wrap their heads around the fact that they absolutely trashed San Francisco

Timothy Stewart4 said:I remember how Mrs. Thatcher used to dismantle these little power plays with actual expertise. But unlike back then in the United Kingdom, here in America today—trying to topple an elected government through union terror is somehow treated like it's perfectly normal.

As if we’re the ones who are normal... I was watching coverage from San Francisco, and the day before the strike, they were out on the streets asking retirees what they thought about the sanitation workers' walkout, and everyone was shouting their support. I guess there isn't exactly a direct link in their minds between language and paying the trash collection bill..😁

Exactly! They’ll probably just announce they're outsourcing the whole thing in a few months, and then everyone will suddenly be sitting pretty and quiet... 👍
But what are we supposed to do in the meantime? In two days, there's going to be trash piled up everywhere like it's some messy street in Paris. I'm seriously dying to know how the Mayor is going to handle this mess. I really hope he doesn't end up acting like his predecessor.
edit: Honestly, I think we should put this to a public vote via referendum:
Are you guys okay with sanitation workers getting a minimum wage of $10 $0.00 while you, the citizens, foot the bill through higher trash collection fees? 😁

with all their iconography and organized transport.
yeah, there's a massive amount of bullshit driving that whole thing behind the scenes

Well, I guess some brilliant physicist must have pre-planned all these moves, right? Because as soon as those corporate suck-ups smelled money, they jumped all over it immediately after the big city takeover. Or maybe not? God... what isn't he doing? Organizing public works, bringing in foreign labor, dreaming up nuclear fusion...🙄

What iconography? I was talking strictly about those people praying for the hospitals to stay open...

A union representative is claiming that Joe Rogan was actually trying to get physical with him. Apparently, he started lung洲ing his way over there with his hands shoved right in his pockets... Now, I haven’t exactly been a brawler in my time, but I have a sneaking suspicion that any fight would have kicked off while those hands were still tucked away in his pockets

No... that’s just low-class provocation—purely designed to incite a reaction, hurling insults... keeping your hands in your pockets... all just to bait someone into swinging while the cameras are rolling—so they can play the victim.

Pretty sure you said the same thing about those doctors in Washington, D.C... No, wait—you actually wrote "we need to bring in new people and let the Democrats strike"... Or did I misread that? 😁

Even I wouldn't give these guys an inch. Not even a tiny bit.
But blaming the Republican Party for everything everywhere... I mean, seriously? 🙄
man, you guys are blind
but everyone in San Francisco sees it
look at this union guy acting like he owns the place in the department stores—what a joke, just typical Republican nonsense

It’s almost funny how we judge what "normal" looks like... I was watching some news coverage out of New York City recently, right before a big sanitation strike broke out. They were interviewing retirees on the street, asking their take on the workers walking off the job, and honestly, everyone was cheering them on. It’s just that for those folks, there isn't really a direct connection between a language barrier or a service disruption and their own monthly utility bills. 😁
Most seniors grew up in an era where they assumed the government or the city could just print money whenever they felt like it, or that a windfall would just magically appear from thin air. Naturally, they’re all for any kind of increase or subsidy.

Now that is a brilliant suggestion!

neonfalcon16 said:Sure, they’re technically clocked in for eight hours, but effectively? You barely see them for three. After that, they’re usually hanging out at some local coffee shop or even leaning against a wall somewhere. I've seen plenty of examples of this firsthand.

They probably just pop over to the Republican Party offices to visit the big donors who hired them in the first place.

Some guy from a small town near San Francisco wrote in a local paper claiming sanitation workers deserve doctor-level salaries because doctors end up killing kids instead.

Is this an actual critique of medical professionals or just typical rhetoric from the Republican Party for their base? 🤔

What kind of crazy people is the mainstream media feeding us now? 🙏

Doctors claim they make less than trash collectors, yet they pull huge salaries. On top of that, you have doctors in Washington, D.C. threatening strikes, and then there's the tragedy where a five-year-old died—it’s shameful what some of these doctors are doing to people, and now they're insulting sanitation workers too.

The strike is over
The budget is actually the same one we proposed. It’s just how they’re splitting it up differently.

There were more talks today about how to distribute the funds. The workers had their own ideas, but I guess it doesn't really matter to us.

"We didn't reach an agreement on the inflation adjustment," he said after meeting with the strike leaders.

Employees ended up getting a $110 gross monthly raise as a permanent addition for everyone.
They didn't get that 6 percent increase they were pushing for; instead, they got the $110 gross. Even though the union originally asked for about $145 per paycheck, they settled for something a bit lower. For the three lowest-paid positions, they agreed to bump the pay scales by five to six percent.

We finally hit a middle ground.
According to my sources, they’ve called off the strike.

If you ask me, this just proves the protesters have been completely played by the Republican Party.
Absolutely brainless behavior—just pure, unadulterated nonsense.

And why bother striking when people will just start heckling them the moment they step out onto the street? Based on how nasty the comments are looking, things aren't going to go well for them.

Just take what's on the table and keep going to your appointments. It beats getting yelled at in public.😉

Now they can move forward with restructuring the roles and bringing in new hires who don't have any union affiliations...

Since we have about 60,000 retirees who could legally work part-time—just four hours a day while keeping their full pensions—I’m really hoping to see the city step up and launch an initiative soon!
