Honestly, I wouldn't even go that far with all this "love" for Maja. Look, I’m naturally against any kind of idol worship, but let's be real: this woman strategically uses her work and her position. While she has done plenty of things correctly (yeah, right—where’s that famous registry from the start of her tenure in San Francisco 🤣?), you don't have to dig very deep to find public documents showing how they "cancel part of the bidding process" just to sidestep their own rules for certain people. Secondly, Maja’s (and the City's) rulebooks aren't above the law, and when—if ever 🙄—the lawsuits are settled, we'll see exactly how much money we threw away and whether it was actually worth it. Also, regarding the hysterics over my favorite little malac, please notice the pattern where she settles scores with journalists via Facebook. Seriously? Facebook! Not only is it unprofessional, it’s incredibly tacky. If she had actually replied through official email, there would be a paper trail she could be held to if she ever had to issue a denial. Instead, Maja knows her followers will just wet themselves over her Facebook rants, all just to polish her public image.

For years, Noštrom—who is basically the top seasonal restaurant after the Opera House—has been cleaning up the area in front of the Fish Market, setting up a stall, then packing it all away in the middle of the night so fish can be sold in the morning, all while paying the fees.
Then suddenly, the City decides outdoor fish sales are over and there are no more restaurants, so the guy asks, "Since you've already screwed me over, can I just move inside and keep paying my fees?"
It's naive to say this always needs a tender, as that opens the door to speculation and corruption—so I won't go there. But in this specific case, it isn't some massive scandal that warrants an outcry; it's only for three months, so if it's a mess, they can hold a proper tender next year.
Whoever wrote this is right about one thing: that little patch of market space in front of the Fish Market needs to be handled properly.
You're right about one thing: Nostrom really is a top-tier restaurant. First off, it wasn't the City, it was the European Union that decided there wouldn't be fish sold outside anymore, and my dear friend Dinko Peračić won the public bid with his architectural design. Hopefully, that actually happens eventually. For a few years now, it's been suggested to the local authorities that it's totally fine to allow privatization of the Fish Market for certain events, like business cocktails and stuff like that. Puljak knows this, and they managed to squeeze right in alongside our Lana Pavic. But oh well, they basically shot themselves in the foot. There was no public bidding process, and by this time next year, they won't even be able to hold one because there will be construction work to fulfill Dinko's vision. As much as I like that Nostrom is there, it isn't fair. Also, the price per square meter is basically paying premium prices for a sidewalk stall, but newsflash: that is NOT a stall! But hey, they'll just play dumb, bicker with the press, and everyone will (hopefully!) forget. Furthermore, this whole mess is being called an event that clearly exists just to suck up to whoever kisses the government's ass most sweetly (remember Luxora?). This kind of event doesn't follow standard regulations; it's a classic San Francisco move where they abuse the system—you know, when someone acts all high and mighty, goes to the inner circle, wipes their hands on their pants, and then offers you food with those same hands. It's a total shady move. So, once you scratch the surface, even a superficial thinker can see these guys are playing dirty, just like every other corrupt group we've dealt with. They just hire PR hacks to bark the same lines until everything looks rosy on the outside. What a massive fail.
Edit: Once they finish renovating the Fish Market, you'll actually have the chance (and the hygiene!) to grab some food right there on the spot. And look, people have been calling out the ZOI mess and what they’re pulling for ages, so I’m all for this move. But honestly, with the Fish Market situation, it feels like they basically pulled the same stunt that our "legendary" hero Baldasar did with the ZOI.
