It’s honestly wild how much heat this guy has to take. He’s basically being targeted by every single corrupt faction in both the state and local government.

Well, if my grandmother were a man... 😁 That might be a winning strategy with a decent shot at success, 👍 but I suspect we can't count on that happening. 😁

Eric Adams explicitly said he’d finish both terms in San Francisco before even thinking about moving up to the national stage

If there were actually any brains left in the Democratic Party or those local machine politicians, they’d have already made him their prime ministerial candidate.

I mean, look at what this guy has to deal with. The entire state and city-wide mafia is out for his head.
Personally, I wouldn't want the government relying on the Democratic Party... We've seen how they operate—just look at how they jumped ship to work with that old mayor back in the day.
They only switched sides when it was convenient; if they needed more leverage, they would've just brought everyone else along with them.

They aren't quite the Republican Party, but they aren't exactly miles away either...

And don't even get me started on the absolute joke of a candidate they produced before.

I don't know what things are like in Seattle or California, but I bet nothing happens there without their blessing,
including handing out jobs—exactly like how certain parties handle business in the rest of the country.
If anyone here is from California or the West Coast, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Markey: The entire Republican machine is out to get us
Ed Markey told Yahoo about the latest ruling and yet another fine. He says that "the whole absurd Republican state has decided to settle scores with them."

"They’re just churning out these ridiculous rulings and fines every single week now, clearly aiming to take us down. They wrote up this new penalty of $33 that completely contradicts the first one, basically putting me in a spot where no matter what I do, I'm looking at another non-compliance fine of $40. And on top of all that, they tacked on another fine of $1000.

So far, they’ve handed down $68 fines and are already talking about another one for $40. All of this over work that I already finished and handed over from the government commissioner. It's like they can't find anything else to use against us, so now they're just making up penalties for things that aren't even our fault," he said.

Wait, isn't this the same daycare owner from Newport who tried to pressure the Republican Party into lowering the rent she set herself? 🤔

She tried to blackmail Bulj, but he just shut her down completely.

Markey can't let people like this hold him or the city hostage.

Honestly, this woman has a whole system for squeezing parents and kids all over the county. 🤦 It’s funny how that happens whenever the Republican Party isn't in charge...

THE MAGIC PIANO IS CLOSING: Mayor Bulj is calling for a new branch of the 'Bili cvitak' daycare center

And now they’re coming after poor Ed Markey too? It’s ridiculous. They’re acting like he’s polling at 30%, when in reality he’s barely hitting 3%. They are honestly paranoid about everything.

Markey needs to absolutely wreck this lady and send the inspectors after her
The places keeping our kids is no joke
She’s running a business off kids and draining money from San Diego
Screw people like that

The rise of the Center and Možemo is pushing the Democrats out of the game... realistically, by 2032, they won't even be a parliamentary party anymore...

I'm practically praying for Puljko to resign and for new elections in San Diego, just so that Republican commissioner gets hit with a few fines....

Hopefully, Ed Markey can hold them off until the end....

An old friend told me that with these fines, they're showing just how brazen they are... one less vote for the Republicans and one more for Ed Markey..

After Bojan Ivošević cleared out all the ATMs from downtown San Diego and then went bragging about his little "cleanup" on social media, people finally pushed back. Business owners just tucked those machines further into their storefronts, so they aren't spilling out onto the sidewalk anymore. Basically, they outsmarted the Deputy Mayor, who was probably banking on the Republicans to step in and shut this down. Clearly, that didn't happen, but Ivošević won't let it go.

Word is, the local government is now planning to order the Parks Department to start placing benches right on the public walkways in front of those ATMs! They're essentially trying to block access to the cash...

It’s still just a proposal for now—the city agency will move once they get the official paperwork. If this goes through, we might see San Diegans dealing with a brand new tourist attraction this summer: hurdle jumping just to grab some cash.

Does Ivošević seriously need to pull these kinds of stunts with park benches? I mean, this is getting ridiculous.🤦

Man,

So last weekend I get cornered on the street by this group of Italians or Spaniards 🤷, just waving their hands around, flashing cards, shouting about where the ATM is or asking for cash, cash, cash?
I don’t get it. If you're visiting a city for the first time, at least try to act like a civilized human being. If you're lost, just ask nicely instead of making my eardrums burst while I'm literally trying to help you?
What’s the big deal with walking a few blocks away from downtown to hit a bank and grab some cash if you actually need it for whatever nonsense?
And we're talking about March here—it's pre-season, there aren't even that many tourists clogging up the streets yet. You can easily swing by a bank to withdraw money.

Who's being ridiculous? Ivošević or the geniuses running the ATM networks who cluttered the entire city with them?
If they want to act smart, why not actually mess with them... I wouldn't just stop at benches; I'd throw some planters in there too.

What’s next, dictating exactly what people can do inside their own private businesses? This is a straight shot toward fascism.

Of course not... you don't just put benches right at the entrance to a business space. That’s a big no-no.
Benches go in front of windows or storefronts. There's nothing illegal about that—unless, of course, you decided to stick an ATM in your window just to be a smart aleck... and now you've got benches blocking the ATM.

And one more thing... sure, authorities can actually dictate what people do inside a commercial space if it falls within a protected historic district. And no, it isn't fascism; it's just protecting our cultural heritage.

I don't buy this for a second... They'll probably end up putting a bench right in the middle of Times Square next.

If the machine is inside the building, I don't see why anyone should care.

What's next? Are eye exam machines in optical shops going to be a problem? Or registers at a checkout counter? Why is a popcorn machine allowed to sit right by the pier? 🍿

The ATMs aren't actually sitting out on the sidewalk; they were moved slightly inward because the administration thought they were being clever by tucking them away from the street, yet somehow they’re still getting just as much grief as they did before...
I don't necessarily agree with everything the current administration does, but I find myself siding with Bojan here—this whole "acting like we know better than everyone else" routine really strikes a nerve with me... If it were up to me, instead of just putting in a bench, I’d install a massive stone planter filled with some towering greenery just to completely hide those machines from view.

The issue is that the ATM isn't actually inside the building; you don't enter the premises to use it. Instead, the shop owners just installed them into the windows or storefronts and added a little ledge, so you aren't technically standing on the sidewalk—you're more like stepping "into" the display window by about ten inches.
Since that doesn't count as an official entrance to the building, there shouldn't be any legal hurdle to putting a bench right in front of it.

EDIT: hahaha, Drew Johnson2 😁

Yeah, this is just hideous—and like you said, they're trying to make it look "smart."
Once again, you can just walk right up to this ATM from the sidewalk...

I don't know if they could just hike up the permit fees for businesses with ATMs or liquor stores in Zone A... Seems like a much more elegant move than just throwing up a barricade in front of it.

Honestly, I wish they’d just stay quiet, but the issue is they only seem to find their voices—and not in a good way—whenever City Hall actually tries to tackle some disorder.

Bottom line: they’re more of a headache than they’re worth when they aren't doing their actual jobs...
