I can wrap my head around the sheer irrationality coming from Russia lately—honestly, we’ve become almost numb to it at this point—but I am completely baffled by the logic on the American side. They are still pushing forward with plans to send massive shipments of weaponry into the occupied Donbas even after its annexation by Russia, which just invites the accusation that the US is launching a direct assault on Russian soil. It feels incredibly reckless. According to CNN, the forecasts are looking pretty grim; for the first time, they are openly acknowledging the possibility of nuclear war and have briefed "the world and their member states" about it. I mean, seriously, what on earth are they thinking? Why keep flooding that region with arms when it's clear the people in charge have lost their grip on reality and reason has completely flown out the window? Shouldn't the priority be trying to de-escalate the situation instead of pouring gasoline on the fire?

The only real danger here is letting fascists run wild without any consequences.
They let Hitler walk, they let Putin go into Georgia and Crimea, and now look at this mess we're in.
You can only deal with fascists through strength, otherwise, things just get way worse.
But hey, I feel like I've told you that a hundred times already in this thread, yet here we are, circling the same drain.
If you aren't a Russian troll, it should be crystal clear that playing nice isn't going to solve a damn thing.

Well, what else are they supposed to do?....if they did, it would basically be a total Russian victory...

I mean, think about it—the Russians grab a chunk of Ukraine, declare it part of Russia, and then suddenly nobody dares to touch them because they'd be "attacking Russian territory." And since the US will defend those areas with nukes... Russia could potentially just roll through all of Ukraine or any neighboring country they feel like taking if this keeps up.

Department of Justice - about 35,000
Federal Investigation Commission - nearly 20,000
U.S. Marshals Service - about 60,000

When you look at the sheer scale of the violence apparatus in Russia—those so-called siloviki—we're talking about over two million military personnel currently on the books.
Seriously, what the hell does Putin need 300,000 ill-equipped reservists with rusty Kalashnikovs for? 🤷
And just to be clear, I’m not even the one asking this; it was Ramzanov's question originally! 😂

Who is going to handle the crackdown on protesters if they send all the police to the front lines?

And if they send the FBI to war, who’s going to watch the officers to make sure they don't beat the protesters?

I mean, okay, but then again—what's the actual point? If you're sending over a bunch of drunks, retirees, guys from Ingushetia and Dagestan carrying rusted-out AKs, telling them to buy their own sleeping bags and decent boots, and basically expecting them to just raid a car for first aid supplies... I guess it's all pretty pointless, isn't it?

Like he’s just playing some video game?......And you're still watching this like it's some sort of simulation?

btw, does Putin not already know that Russia is more or less a major global power or something?

I mean, maybe he wasn't bored, but he definitely had to stroke that Nazi, imperialist ego of his—the kind that only feeds on innocent blood. Honestly, people like you, the ones supporting him, are basically just making it easy for the (V)SOA to track who the local collaborators are.
As for Putin himself, he messed up so badly in Ukraine that even if he permanently annexes what he’s taken, that’ll be the last time he ever pulls anything like that. He really showed himself and Russia for what they truly are: modern-day Hitlers, Nazis, and nothing but ruthless thugs who don't give a damn about human life.

And the worst part? I guess even Putin admitted it when he said Russia hasn't lost anything from this war. To a Russian-Nazi mindset, those deaths don't matter... probably just because they see people as being worthless.

It seems people like you just can't grasp what everyone else—and even CNN—is shouting from the rooftops. We are standing right on the precipice of a global nuclear war because neither side is backing down. You have to act with extreme, surgical caution, not charge in like a blind, raging bull, which is exactly what some of you seem to be praying for. I mean, look at the news today—even Medvedev is out there hinting that they might actually use nuclear weapons in Ukraine. That group has completely lost their grip on reality. So, how do you handle people like that? Do you just act recklessly and risk everything blowing up in our faces, or do you try to de-escalate first and then deal with the fallout once things settle down?

Yeah, right. That's how the world works—you just claim dibs on someone else's country and suddenly nobody is allowed to touch it anymore.🤦

You just get rid of the people in question and, along the way, satisfy that little ego trip of thinking you're some kind of grand leader.

The whole idea behind this mobilization is just raw numbers.

Just deploy them to fill the holes left by losses—then have seasoned, battle-hardened vets and officers run the show. Throw in some politically loyalists too, like an NKVD type... I mean, they're already threatening "decimation" (you know, shooting every tenth man) just to keep everyone in line and crush any mutiny.
Kind of like the Red Army.

I just can't see how you'd link Russians and Nazis together... especially knowing what happened with the actual Nazis back in 1941-1945 while they were fighting the Red Army...

Btw, I'm definitely not supporting Putin, and I'm even less of a fan of Russia or the Russians—actually, because of some personal stuff, I can't even stand the sight of them...

I'm genuinely curious, though—what exactly made you jump to the conclusion that I'm some "Russian Nazi" backing Putin? Like, what was the reasoning there?

Everyone is backing down way too much. A real option would be for NATO to just wrap up the Russian invasion across Europe in three days.
Then move on to denazification in Russia. But because of the nuclear stuff, this just drags on and on, and regular people are dying by the hundreds of thousands.
There isn't any room left for concessions. Based on how Russia acts—and if you look at how fascists acted throughout history—they won't stop until they are physically stopped, and their behavior just inspires other fascists to follow suit.
So, honestly, the danger of a nuclear war would actually be much higher if we didn't stop them.

Has Russia set up some kind of new NKVD units specifically to hunt down and kill mobilized soldiers on the front lines if they try to desert or disobey orders?

If this whole situation manages to de-escalate without spiraling into a massive global conflict, then we absolutely have to put Russia under some form of international trusteeship. Honestly, I’ve been thinking about this—it’s something that should have been on the table since 1945. I find myself agreeing with several others here; there has just been far too much appeasement toward the Russian side over the years, even from nations like Germany. Back after 1945, Russia essentially walked away with exactly what they wanted by cutting those deals with the Nazis—they basically grabbed half of the EU. Implementing a trusteeship would be a vital component of maintaining global security, though, goodness knows, figuring out how to actually pull that off given their nuclear arsenal... well, that's going to require some incredibly brilliant minds at work.

Man, there’s no "calming down" with these guys. They’ve basically decided they’re going into Ukraine and annexing the whole thing, and they aren't budging. I guess all those calls for "de-escalation" are really just ways to say Ukraine should disappear and make these conquest wars legal.

Honestly, the Russian Federation isn't much different from Nazis right now. It wasn't even like that back in '39, because if it were, they wouldn't have made that pact, and they definitely wouldn't be promoting or funding Nazi groups across Europe today. This crew invades countries and annexes them, they threaten people with a Holocaust every single day, and their soldiers are out there raping and looting locals like it's some old playbook. They're literally snatching kids and taking them back to the USA.

Joseph Clark37 said:Has Russia set up some kind of new NKVD units specifically to hunt down and kill mobilized soldiers on the front lines if they try to desert or disobey orders?

They've had special units behind the lines for a long time now, whose entire job is killing their own men if they try to pull back.

Putin simply cannot afford to lose Donbas or southern Ukraine. Given all the rhetoric coming out of the Kremlin lately, the whole situation feels eerily similar to how things looked during the Gulf War—back when everyone knew a massive shift was coming, yet nobody could sign a peace deal because they had already backed themselves into a corner by overpromising to their people. It’s unsettling. I honestly worry this is headed toward a major escalation. How is he supposed to just back down when he’s spent all this time claiming there are Nazis in Ukraine who hate everything Russian? 🤷

Right now, his entire strategy seems to hinge on mobilization, praying for a frozen conflict, and eventually dragging everyone into some sort of negotiation designed to just lock the current stalemate in place—essentially stretching this out indefinitely. And frankly, I'm concerned that even the nuclear option isn't off the table for him. When Medvedev starts talking, he's usually just saying exactly what Putin is thinking.
