A colleague of mine—perfectly normal person—went to get a chest X-ray while dealing with COVID-19, took a taxi to get there, and all with the blessing of the CDC officials. They actually told her to just wear two masks.

🥱
You could have at least dropped a witty remark to make up for such a lackluster contribution.

You don't have a car, you don't have cash—and even if you did, you can't just call an Uber home because you'll end up infecting the driver or whoever you might ask for a ride. (And honestly, plenty of seniors live alone these days; family moves away, and any friends they do have are usually in the exact same boat.)

So, what are you supposed to do? Request a specialized medical transport vehicle that actually meets CDC safety standards? 🤣

Seriously, tell me how someone in that position is even expected to get back home to quarantine.

If this is the same one ENFP is talking about, these vehicles traveling from Canada to Germany 🤣🤣

And what about all that talk regarding aerosol transmission? Apparently, it passes right through three surgical masks anyway. Then there’s the whole theory about spreading it through touch, surfaces, or handling cash...

So, this poor soul ends up infecting the doctor, the cab driver, and everyone else who
got into that taxi after her.
It's a disaster. Honestly, it's no wonder our grandparents are dying and people are dropping in the streets 🙄

Fair enough. I thought they were talking about some bus running through New York City or somewhere else in the suburbs.

Yeah. The guidelines literally say to wear two masks and sit diagonally from the driver. There's nothing controversial about following those rules.

But this lady actually hopped on a bus to Germany with a positive test result, and nobody even bothered to check her until she ran into those super strict Germans.

When I asked my family doctor how to get from downtown to New York City for a scheduled test without a car, they basically told me to just grab a mask, hop in a taxi, and sit in the back seat.

So, my Uber driver started bragging to me about how many people he’s hauled around who were totally "infected"—he was acting like his track record is spotless because he hasn't caught anything himself. He mentioned using some kind of essential oil or something to stay protected, but honestly, I wasn't really paying attention to the specifics.

I can’t help but recall a few years back when I’d catch a taxi right outside the local hospital, and more often than not, the drivers would get this intrusive curiosity about my business, asking me point-blank what was wrong with me or what kind of illness I was dealing with😁

There you go—you might have just been handed the secret cure for COVID by a complete stranger.

So, after spending a few decades peddling Herbalife, these taxi drivers have basically pivoted to being Young Living recruiters 🙂

So, I’m at school and something incredibly frustrating just went down. One girl in my class had her parents catch COVID, and then she started showing symptoms herself. She was clearly feeling under the weather starting Monday, yet she kept showing up to class all the way through Wednesday. It wasn't until Thursday—when she finally stayed home to self-isolate and take a test—that she actually came back positive. Because of this totally reckless behavior, both me and several of my classmates have been ordered into mandatory isolation. I honestly want to know if there’s any accountability for this kind of thing, especially since our homeroom teacher clearly isn't doing her job to monitor these situations. This girl knew there was a massive chance she was contagious, but she chose to leave the house anyway, putting everyone she came into contact with at risk and basically stealing ten days of our lives.

In my view, penalties should only be handed out to those who have actually been issued a formal self-isolation order and then decided to break it.

If she broke quarantine rules, then yeah, she could definitely face a fine.
Now, if she actually knew she had COVID and was intentionally spreading it around—well, theoretically, that could lead to some actual criminal charges.
But if she had no idea she was sick? Then you guys can just give her a dirty look and leave it at that. I mean, honestly, where would we even be if I had to stay stuck inside every single time I caught a little cold?

Plus, a pharmacist can check using your MBO. 🙂

The timelines probably vary because people were last exposed to an infected person at different times—like maybe March 12th or the 14th.

Does anyone else have access to that system used to track people in isolation? For instance, would administrative staff at a daycare center be able to see it?

Look, you've got doctors and pharmacists, sure, but then you've got the police and Child Protective Services in the mix too.
As for daycare centers? I’m almost certain they don't have a look at it.

Man, my kid has already had to deal with two separate 10-day isolations because of stuff like this... Parents have sick people at home with various issues, yet they send the kid to school before even bothering to get tested... Then, once the positive result finally hits, suddenly it's "everyone go home and isolate!" What can you even do? Honestly, nothing. They’ll always just play it off with the same old excuses—"we didn't know," or "we thought it was just a cold" until the test comes back.

Can someone walk me through how they actually calculate the self-isolation compensation? Since the pay is $1133.

My little one is stuck in isolation right now—basically half the preschool is out
and we haven't received a single word of guidance on what to do next
or when she can actually head back to daycare.
