You really think Americans aren't going to finally lose their minds when things hit the fan like this?

Exactly. There are plenty of other ways to establish a dictatorship; it isn't just limited to those political opportunists camping out in front of the Capitol. 😉

Obviously.

And they aren't the only ones who think they have a right to complain.
They're just the only ones who think they should be allowed to do it without any consequences.

Robin Jones2 said:Just a couple of days ago, or perhaps even yesterday, you were posting something entirely different on another thread.

What exactly is your position here? Are you advocating for a vote of no confidence in Joe Biden to trigger immediate elections, or are you pushing for the polls to stay open until the end of the year?

Good grief. More nonsense. I’m not trying to lecture you—that takes too much energy.

Once you actually dig into the facts, you'll see how off-base you're being. Look up the legal deadlines properly. If you're still confused after that, feel free to post it publicly and we can go from there.

Good grief. More nonsense. I'm not even attempting to educate anyone at this point; that would be a waste of resources.

Once you actually bother to study the subject matter, you’ll realize how much nonsense you're talking. Take the time to properly review the deadlines; if things still don't make sense to you after that, feel free to post your confusion publicly, and then we can proceed.
One could certainly attempt to learn from the elite forum analysts who have spent the last three years loudly proclaiming that Joe Biden is finished, only to watch him remain exactly where he is.

You urge them to stand their ground, yet you simultaneously insist they shouldn't wait; depending on which topic you happen to be tackling, your logic remains flawlessly inconsistent.

Robin Jones2 said:I am in complete agreement with your assessment; given the current climate, the best course of action would be to let the Republican Party reap exactly what they have sown.

Unfortunately, history shows that in times like these, those in power tend to drift toward autocracy or outright dictatorship—one need only look at the examples of Mexico and Canada.

I suspect that if the Republican Party calls an election now and manages to retain control, they will begin stripping away media freedoms and the rights to assemble or protest, all under the convenient pretext of fighting the pandemic or managing economic instability. After all, who was it that banned protests in Times Square?

Of course, the party and its inner circle won't suffer; they will grab whatever they want, while everyone else can go to hell.

This transition occurred long ago. For years, the media has merely echoed the rhetoric of the ruling class; blacklists exist containing names of individuals forbidden from appearing in mainstream outlets; journalists and editors hold clandestine meetings with the President and the Governor to negotiate financial arrangements (bribery); fundamental democratic rights, such as referendums, have been abolished; laws are passed that eighty percent of Americans oppose—laws that the Republican Party never even included in their campaign platforms (a blatant deception of the electorate); they form coalitions with parties that are formally their polar opposites (the Independent Party, the Democratic Party)—another betrayal of the voters; and finally, the Supreme Court acts in direct opposition to the Constitution and the citizens, remaining entirely under the thumb of The Administration.

In short, the dictatorship is already here; it has merely arrived quietly, dressed in an expensive suit, wearing fine European spectacles, perfectly groomed, polyglot, and shielded by a media that insists we are actually paragons of democracy, warning us to beware of those "populists" or "fascists" who might supposedly dismantle this perfect system. It is black and white. Slavery is freedom. Ignorance is power.

Just more disciples of Soros. They all follow the exact same script. And Vucic? He's playing the same game.

Word on the street is that the top brass at the Republican Party has decided to keep a very close eye on how the pandemic numbers shake out through May 11th, with the goal of calling for a new election if the data looks promising.
- Honestly, Andrej Plenković is sitting in a much stronger position right now than he’ll be in this September. The big question mark remains whether we'll see that 25 percent jump in tourism compared to last year, because without that revenue, the budget is going to be looking pretty thin, and Minister Miletić will likely have to start taking out loans at rates higher than 1.25 percent. We're looking at potential pay cuts for public and government employees down the road, though those salaries should remain untouched through June, according to a source I spoke with inside the Republican Party.

Once Congress is dissolved, President Zoran Milanović has a constitutional window of 30 to 60 days to set the election date. Within the Republican Party, there's a feeling that we might actually see those elections go down toward the end of June.

Regarding the Commutator: they're basically calling on their little foot soldiers to tear down the opposition just to keep Plenković in power. They’re praying nobody actually agrees to an early vote to dissolve Congress!

Well, fine. Nothing makes sense to me.

I’ve looked at the timelines, I really have, and I simply cannot wrap my head around how these little political players could possibly topple the administration right now, given that the elections aren't even scheduled until after September.

Why on earth do you think a vote of no confidence against the President means Congress dissolves immediately? I don't see that anywhere in the rules. If you actually have a source saying otherwise, feel free to drop a link.

The Constitution, Article 113:

Quincy:
If a vote of no confidence is passed against the Prime Minister or the Cabinet as a whole, both the Prime Minister and the Cabinet must resign. Should a new Prime Minister nominee—along with their proposed Cabinet members—fail to secure a vote of confidence within 30 days, the President of the Senate will notify the President of the United States. Upon receiving such notice, the President of the Senate the President will immediately move to dissolve Congress and simultaneously call for new elections for the US Congress.
So, basically:
* a vote of no confidence hits the Cabinet
* no new Prime Minister is selected within 30 days
* the President dissolves Congress and calls for elections.

I guess I’m just now realizing what you're actually getting at here—you essentially want those little pawns to scurry back to their flock, take down Andrej Plenković, and install Davor Bernardić as Prime Minister? Well, if that happened, there wouldn't even be an election to speak of.

Man, you really are a devious one. 😬

“The Director of the Senior Living Center on Broadway in Miami deserves an award”

Quincy:
I honestly think the director of the Senior Living Center on Broadway in Miami should be given an award!

I mean, considering that no other facility comes anywhere close to the number of deaths seen at the Broadway Senior Living Center in Miami—and since this is a public facility managed by the County, making it much cheaper than private options—I’m fairly certain the waiting list for a spot there is incredibly long.

Schwarzenegger really hit it out of the park with how he tackled this issue, showing other directors how things can actually be handled quickly and efficiently!

So, I suggest the County rewards him as soon as possible! Schwarzenegger ought to lead the Republican Party ticket in the next election; I'm pretty sure people would reward his hard work and his knack for finding fast solutions during a crisis.

Well, go ahead and have your fun playing games with the Republican Party if you want to.

The show that was targeted this past Saturday by Dubravka Šuica—a Republican woman serving as the Vice President of the European Commission for demography and democracy—is gone, having been pulled from the schedule tonight after she attacked the host just for letting a viewer voice some criticism.

Even though during Saturday's episode of "Voice of the People" on San Francisco TV, the editor and host Paska Tomaš casually told everyone, "we'll see you in two days," and even though the show had been fully promoted through both the TV listings and the media coverage during tonight's San Francisco TV news broadcast where the news anchor informed viewers at the very end that a report would be airing at 8 PM instead of "Voice of the People," according to reports from the San Francisco insider.

That is the essence of this polished European democracy. It functions perfectly, provided we simply ensure that "populists" and "fascists" aren't allowed to exist.

You haven't grasped anything, much like a broken calculator. Try calculating the minimum and maximum number of days your strategy actually delays the election.

Fine, I'll do the math for you since you won't figure it out by the day after tomorrow.

Here's how it works: on the day the weakling triumphantly arrives to dissolve Congress, they just toss him into the dustbin of history and hand over signatures for a vote of no confidence instead.

He’ll be in shock, but his clock for calling the vote starts ticking. Sure, it could happen fast—within 30 days—but it'll take a few days just for them to get their act together. That’s already a few extra days compared to if they had just voted for dissolution. Once he finally calls the vote, the weakling is finished. Then you get another 30 days. So, you've effectively extended things by anywhere from 31 to nearly 60 days. The President has to follow the legal deadlines regardless, whether it's 30 or 60 days, so his temperament doesn't change the math.

Essentially, they stay in power at least 31 days longer if they try to oust Plenković, and they could potentially pocket another 60 days of salary.

The local TV station website still lists "Voice of the People" for the 8:00 PM slot. So, feel free to take a stand against Dubravka Šuica of the Republican Party; go on and say something like, "politicians won't dictate my programming." Well, my dear little journalist, they certainly will. Dubravka will decide the lineup and who is allowed to host.

I am asking anyone capable of watching the local TV station to let us know what is actually airing at 8:00 PM.

A journalist needs to notify the European Commission and the European Parliament. It's vital to send an official letter to the Commission—that’s extremely important!

I find myself wondering whether Maja Sever, Stanković, Bago, Mojmir, Nađvinski, Bolković, and the rest of that journalistic clique will actually show any solidarity with their truly independent colleague, paska Tomaš from CNN, or if they will simply retreat to yet another clandestine meeting with the Prime Minister and the Governor to receive their latest instructions on how they ought to report the news.
