Edward Cooper2 said:They’re in real trouble in the second, sixth, and seventh districts... The second is struggling because of njonja, and the sixth because of Božinović (though Marijana Petir might actually make an impact there—and maybe give Božinović a hard time in the process). The seventh is a mess since it stretches all the way from the coast to Central Park. I have no idea why they included Medved there; probably because of Columbus, but that’s only a tiny slice of that district...

Medved is from the Slunj area, and people from Slunj tend to be pretty "popular" over in Columbus...

The real issue is that Murganićka—much like the folks from Columbus—is even less popular... and then Jelić went and completely blindsided them.

The list leader 😵🤦

Look, getting the campaign machinery running? No sweat. That's easy.

Then there's the second spot on the ballot 🤦 Maybe they think he's so unpopular they have to frontload him (not sure how the law works exactly—is it just total votes per person, or does the list order matter? I'm pretty sure the position on the ticket counts too.)

As for the fourth slot 🤦

Someone made a good point earlier: that leader for the 9th district seems like a complete miss. We need someone actually right-wing there, if that's even still a thing. 🕺

The only places where they even tried to pivot a bit "right" were the seventh and maybe the eleventh spots. But honestly, those candidates have compromised themselves so much that you could expose them with a single mouse click or one solid, well-reasoned sentence.

And why exactly are those folks from Slunj so "popular" in Columbus?

Does anyone else get the feeling that the Republican Party is actually trying to lose this election on purpose?🤣 It’s like they know exactly what’s coming after the votes are counted, so they figure it’s better if someone else gets branded as the worst administration in American history.
The njonja unit is going to be a specialized division dedicated entirely to messing around,😁 while the ninth and tenth units will have to be filled by the raw materials—people like Milinović, Kalmeta, and that whole crowd. Beroš is just way too polite for that kind of work; he speaks such proper, formal American.

Do you honestly believe they care about the people? That they give a damn about a recession, a falling GDP, or tens of thousands of people losing their jobs? Their massive paychecks will arrive right on schedule, and their black limos will be fueled up by drivers using government credit cards. Why on earth would they fear what's ahead?
As for those ninth or tenth units... I'm guessing the plan is to skip them entirely. Not now, and not in four years. Never again. It would be too much work to try and rebrand the Republican Party. They’ve probably calculated that they won't lose more than three or four seats. And even then, they'll just make up the difference through a coalition with Škoro

Plenković has, one might argue, been playing an incredibly risky game here.

To me, the vibe of this list of candidates feels eerily similar—almost identical in tone—to the Republican Party's lineup for the European Union elections.

And well, we all know exactly how that particular list turned out.

9. John Thune
10. Beroš

Seriously, what is John Thune doing there? The Republican Party is leading this election with that quiet little administration minister.

Zdravka Bušić.
A convicted terrorist.
Just lovely.
It looks like the Republican Party isn't just a criminal organization, they're running a terrorist one too.

I suspect you might have conflated Zdravka Bušić with Julienna Bušić.

That wasn't Bušić's wife, it was his sister... The wife was convicted alongside him.

Yeah, my bad.
Sorry about that.

But still...

She was standing pretty damn close to the fire, wasn't she? I find it hard to believe she didn't get burned.

Stier and Petir: ‘We’re riding with Plenković because we don't want to hand the win to the Democratic Party’

Pathetic. Total bottom-of-the-barrel stuff. When you’ve got zero actual ideas to sell, you just start scaring people with the specter of the Democratic Party. ☕

And Marijanica? No matter what kind of gutter she finds herself in, he’s gotta make sure everyone knows she’s perfectly innocent and pure. 🙂

It is honestly heartbreaking to see what they have done to us all.

Mayor Gračac was arrested on bribery charges, and you really have to wonder how the people living in her district are actually coping right now.
The media reported that she basically admitted to investigators that she accepted a bribe, even if she claims she didn't go out looking for it.
What this really shows is that corruption within the Republican Party has seeped into every single level of government and public administration, making it feel almost impossible to escape.

When you think about those millions of dollars that these political and economic power players are tossing around—money that the indictments claim was stolen—it is so easy to forget that at the end of the day, the citizens of the United States are the ones footing the bill. They aren't just paying through the misappropriation of public funds that line private pockets, but they are also paying through all those missed opportunities and failed programs that could have actually fixed some of the real problems we face here in America.

What is left behind after this kind of corrupt politics is nothing but scorched earth, and Gračac is the perfect example of that.
Gračac: A city stripped of its people, its youth, and its soul.

When you step back and look at the big picture, it becomes incredibly clear that Gračac isn't just some minor side character in the latest Republican Party corruption scandal starring Josipa Rimac; rather, she is the ultimate warning sign of what the entire country will look like once this swarm of Republican locusts has finished their rampage.

If you just take that first sentence and plug it into Google, the source pops right up for you.

Republican Party official Branko Bačić announced on Tuesday that the party will unveil its full election platform in just one week, with a dedicated chapter specifically focused on tackling corruption head-on , emphasizing a "fresh approach, including how officials are actually appointed."

"We are going to implement specific preliminary steps and more rigorous procedures for nominations and appointments," Bačić stated during his interview on N1 television.

Is this the same Branko Bačić mentioned in the article below?

The wife of Republican Branko Bačić is actually a co-owner of the company that served worm-infested food to students in Rijeka

This company—which somehow managed to snag over three million dollars in federal subsidies meant for planting new vineyards—actually grew out of what used to be the Blato Agricultural Cooperative. They finished converting everything over to employee and partner ownership back in 1997, but if you look closely at the math, most of the shares are still held by just three people: the chairman of the board, Ivan Milat, along with Bačić's wife, Željka Bačić, and marina Šeparović

It looks like instead of getting rid of smaller municipalities altogether, they're leaning toward merging them instead.

When Secretary Malenica spoke about the territorial structure, he made it clear that counties aren't on the chopping block. "As for the cities and towns, we're currently evaluating all available resources to establish specific categories. The main benchmark is self-sustainability, so if a local area can't provide quality services on its own, then we will move forward with mergers," he announced, though he was pretty tight-lipped when it came to discussing actual numbers or potential cost savings.

What’s the actual difference between abolishing something and merging it?
I honestly don't get it. If you abolish one thing, it just gets merged into something else anyway, right? It's not like any part of it is just going to vanish from the map and leave a hole in the local government structure.

Shutting it down = empty buildings, mass layoffs, and actually fixing things right for once
Merging them = just swapping out the seals and changing the signs on the front door
