Just hit USD then click Get Account details.
Then they'll ask you to toss in that $30.
As soon as that cash hits, everything unlocks—USD, EUR, whatever else you need.
The debit card is just tied to your checking account; you spend what's there plus whatever overdraft you've got cleared.
A credit card is different, it's hooked to a line of credit. You've got a set limit, and you pay back what you spent through installments, interest, or just by deferring it for a few days.

Thanks Daniel Torres, so is it enough if I just have a credit card with Warren Buffett, or should I go ahead and order a debit card right now too?

Yeah, you can totally just top up using a Visa or Mastercard if you've got one on hand

Also, do I need to input my bank details before paying, or can I just jump straight to the checkout?

And will it ask me for my card PIN during the transaction, or just the card number and expiration date? I’ve gone and forgotten my password... 🤦‍♀️

All you really need is the card number—you know, those 16 digits—plus the expiration date (that mm/yy bit) and the CVV, which is just that little three-digit code sitting on the back next to where you sign.
Don't go handing over your PIN.

Honestly, we could really use some 3D Secure around here...

Well, that's good to know...

I just transferred funds to my debit card, so I wanted to run this by you all before I start spending. My first step was going to "recipients—add one of your bank account—inside Europe" to enter an IBAN. Then there's an option to "add recipient to..."—do I use the same IBAN there? And where am I supposed to add a credit card?
Now the company has contacted me saying I need to have a USD bank account, but I'm pretty sure mine is in EUR. I don't see why that matters... doesn't the bank just handle the conversion automatically?...

So, basically you just hit the EUR tab, click add, toss in the amount, hit continue, plug in your credit or debit card info, and you're pretty much golden.

Once that money actually lands, just head over to your USD account details and shoot those numbers over to the company.

Then, whenever your paycheck finally hits, you just swap that USD over to EUR and wire it straight to your own account.

Thanks, I'll do that. If I run into any issues, I'll reach out. 🙂

The part that's tripping me up is the IBAN and SWIFT my bank already provided versus the ones you mentioned Wise will issue once my account verification is complete. Now I'm stuck wondering which set I actually need to enter...
Also, can I post a screenshot here? It would be easier if someone could just point out exactly which info goes into which field.

Think of IBAN and SWIFT as the keys to making transfers. Your bank's specific IBAN and SWIFT code are what you need when someone is sending money directly into your account—whether they're using Wise or some other service. You’ll be reaching for those details whenever you want to pull funds out of Wise and drop them into your local bank account. On the flip side, the IBAN and SWIFT provided by Wise (though keep in mind, since we're talking about USD, you'll deal with a Routing number and Account number instead of an IBAN because that's just how things work in the US) are what you use to send money into your Wise account...

Can I just transfer 20 USD right away for verification without having to do things like "add your bank account" first? Once I get the
Wise Account Number, that's the plan...

Yeah.
All you really need is a card.
You just send the company your Wise Account Number for USD (at least until you get one), and while they’re busy sending those payments over to Wise, you'll need the routing number from your local bank—like Citibank or Goldman Sachs—so you can actually move the money from Wise to your own account.

Thanks, Daniel Torres, that clears things up. So I can just go ahead and pay those 20 USD right now, and the card details I enter during checkout will be saved automatically? No need to manually add my card or bank info beforehand?

Honestly, you don't need anything else. Seriously, zero. Just grab your card and maybe have your phone handy for that 3D secure authorization thing.
You probably already know the drill if you do any online shopping anyway.
Just go for it once you've got about $20 on the card.
When you're typing in your card info, you can check the "save card" box if you're planning on topping up your Wise account regularly. It saves you from the headache of re-entering everything every single time—just one click and you're done.
Let me know if the payment gets wonky or if you hit a wall.
