Honestly, it’s just a total waste of time to deal with people who don't have any time for us.

Ever find yourself wasting your breath on people who aren't even on your level? Like, giving way too much weight to connections that don't actually matter?

We’re the kind of people who thrive on being social and hanging out.
But if someone doesn't make time for me, I don't have time for them. Work, family—none of that is an excuse. If you actually want to do something, you find a way. I have certain friends I only see once a year; I'll invite them over, fire up the grill, and we'll catch up on everything until late at night. Time flies when you're talking. Then, we won't speak or see each other again until next year. It could happen more often, sure, but this works for me. I value my peace.

As people get older, they just stop hanging out as much—it’s nothing personal, they just don't feel the need to broadcast their business to the world anymore. If they do run into someone they know, it’s usually just a quick "Hey, how's it going?" before moving on with their day.
Real friends? Man, those are hard to find, and if you actually have one, hold onto them tight. For me, a true friend is someone I can vent to about my entire private life, knowing—without a shadow of a doubt—that everything stays between us. Are there people like that out there? Honestly, hardly anyone. Personally, I've never been the type to go digging into other people's drama anyway. And hey, if you're bored and looking for some tea, just come hang out and read the threads here 😁
. Most of my time goes to my family and relatives—the people I actually care about, who I can tell absolutely anything to, knowing they'll always have my back (and I'll have theirs).
With neighbors, it’s mostly just polite small talk about the weather or whatever.
It’s just how things are these days, I guess. We've got the internet, so we can look up literally anything we want. We don't really need to go asking people for info anymore. Google knows everything 😁

But why the rush? Why did times change like this? And really, who is this happening to?

I used to be a total naive optimist. I've toned that down over the years, sure, but honestly? I'd much rather be a bit too optimistic than shut myself off from the world entirely.

I genuinely care about people. I want to help whenever I can, and it makes me happy to see people staying positive through their struggles. Life is way too short to ignore the good stuff or let fear and indecision rob us of great opportunities.

If you didn't reach out to me for a whole year, you wouldn't even be in my life anymore. 🙂

For me and my old crew, those intense, constant hangouts pretty much evaporated the second we finished college.
Most of us eventually drifted toward different corners of the country or even moved abroad, making it physically impossible to maintain that level of daily interaction.

That said, I still hold onto a handful of incredibly close friends. Some have been in my life for over thirty years, while others have been there for at least a decade. We can go ages without seeing each other—sometimes a year or even two passes by—but the moment we finally sit down together, it’s like no time has passed at all. We pick up right where we left off, talking as if we were hanging out every single day. These are the people I consider true, ride-or-die friends, and I feel genuinely lucky that they remain a constant part of my life. Most importantly, I know that if I ever need to pick up the phone and ask for help, they’ll be there for me, just as I would be for them. These are the kinds of bonds that refuse to break regardless of how many miles lie between us, and honestly, I couldn't be more grateful for that.

If you actually want to make it happen, you'll find the time. If you don't? You'll have a million excuses...
The older you get, the harder it is to open up and build something new with someone.

Spot on. When we were kids, our social circles were massive—just tons of friends everywhere! But then, year after year, that list just keeps shrinking. You meet people at different stages of life and eventually, you have to do a little "audit" of your crew. Why waste precious energy on people who don't really matter or who leave you feeling totally drained? Like, what's even the point of having a friend if you can't actually trust them?
I always say, if dogs and cats could talk, nobody would ever need a human friend again! 😁

That’s just not true. There are plenty of people out there working like dogs. When they finally get some downtime, yeah, they’re going to spend it with their families. A lot of people can't wrap their heads around that and end up getting salty about it. Honestly, I feel more for the ones who can't grasp that priorities shift. You can't expect people to be hanging out with you constantly like they did back when life was easy and nobody had any real responsibilities.🍿

Who’s always running their mouth? We’re talking about the people who NEVER have a spare second to spare. Honestly, that kind of attitude is just straight-up lazy.

Look, they just don't want to deal with you, plain and simple. "Never" means never. You're spot on.👍>

But that’s basically what this whole thread has been about from the start.

Alright. I was actually talking about the people who genuinely don't have the time and end up dropping out because of family stuff, and then those same people get pissed off. I'm confused.😉

Look, I’ll be honest: there are certain people in my life I genuinely wish I could see more often, but the simple reality is that our schedules just never seem to align. It’s perfectly normal that at this stage of our lives, we aren't constantly hitting each other up to hang out every single day, but I still feel a real sense of regret about those connections that fade simply because we can't find the time... everyone is busy raising kids, everyone is scattered across different states, we aren't living in the same cities anymore, and so on...

Then, on the flip side, there are those people for whom I am constantly digging up excuses as to why we can't meet up. And honestly, it isn't even necessarily their fault—it’s just that they always show up with their kids or their husbands in tow. For heaven's sake, I want to actually sit down and have a conversation with *you*, not spend the whole time listening to updates on whether your toddler burped or what color their diaper is. And quite frankly, I have zero interest in socializing with your husband either; he’s just exhausting and incredibly tedious to be around...

This gets to the heart of the matter.
I have my sister and a close friend from my high school days, but as for anyone else, I can't make any guarantees that they will still be standing by my side in a few years. I certainly hope they will, but at the end of the day, I know exactly who I can rely on...

Once you finally figure that out, it just makes sense, right? You make sure you always have time for her so you never even end up in a spot where you're forced to choose between her, your family, or whatever else comes up.

It’s the same story with pretty much everything else in life, isn't it? Some people will go looking for trouble even when things are going great, while others can actually find a silver lining right in the middle of a mess. People are just wired differently.

This hits the nail on the head.
People have become nothing more than selfish, small-minded creatures.

Dearly beloved, and anyone else who finds themselves in a similar state of mind 😍

There is a fundamental process... it’s simply called life... and that is all there is, I suppose. Everything else—all the noise—is just a human construct, a vision, a desire, or perhaps a perceived need 🙂

Have you ever considered that there might be people out there longing for your attention and your time, yet you have never once spared a thought for them, nor even realized they exist in your orbit? 🧐

People are passing away every single day... there is no justice here... there is no God watching over us... the universe is entirely indifferent to how any individual feels or thinks. In my own weary experience, I believe life should prioritize the individual first, and only then, if one chooses to build a relationship with another, should it be based on shared criteria and mutual compromise ☕

I wonder, honestly, how many human beings have breathed their last since this discussion was first initiated? 😉

How many of them possessed enough strength to pray, or perhaps just hope, that someone might actually step in to help? Some sensitive souls who still possess a heart and an ounce of empathy for another person... well, let me tell you... we are all, in some sense, children together we stand - divided we fall 🕺

One ought to sweep their own doorstep clean 🙂 before attempting to venture out into the world... assuming, of course, that one still possesses the will and the energy left after such a thorough cleaning 😬
