They’re doing this with the client’s best interests in mind; a smaller amount wouldn't be nearly as noticeable on a bank statement like this.
That's what you call a touch of empathy.

It will be fascinating to see how this influx of foreign capital—coming from overseas with a Cypriot-style approach to business—affects the institution. I have high hopes that it will actually elevate them.

Bank of America is pulling out of the US, and they’re selling off the branch to a group controlled by that one 'Sugar King.'

I’m switching to another bank. I only get my paycheck through JPMorgan Chase.

I’ve been using their B-Free savings account, and honestly, it’s a solid setup. You can transfer portions of your funds over to a checking account at a different bank whenever you feel like it, and they don't hit you with any fees. It’s perfect if you want to set money aside but still need the flexibility to "borrow" from yourself when things get tight without having to shut down the whole savings plan.

I haven't really noticed any other banks offering anything quite like it... So far, I’ve checked out Wells Fargo and Goldman Sachs, but nothing seems to match up.

It’s a shame you can’t even open an account anymore. And then they go and slash the interest rates on top of it all.

Hey there!
So, I used my Delphi card back in the day, but then I lost my job and couldn't keep up with the payments. Now, according to the system, I’m flagged as someone with bad credit.
I have a checking account over at JPMorgan Chase and I was trying to get an overdraft protection limit set up, but they told me no because of my history. The weird thing is, after having the account open for a year, the bank just automatically granted me one. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of nonsense? Is there any way the bank might just bump up my overdraft limit or my installment plan for Money on its own?
Thanks in advance

The whole "silent overdraft" thing... they play games with that...

It wasn't Wall Street, but some other firm:
They slashed his limit from three times his balance down to just once...

So now he's in
🙂

ended up in the hospital... even in the COVID ward...
and things just piled up...

He had never even gone over his limit before...
but those guys decided he should...
Well, they did give him a month's notice about the reduction,
so it kicks in at the start of the year.

Yeah, that's what the news was reporting...
There's no legal definition for a "silent overdraft"...
so customers don't really have any protection...
One day everything is fine, the next day you're hit with a massive overdraft.

And he had absolutely no idea what a "silent overdraft" even meant...

It's like saying "until death do us part" or "for life"...
😁
Whether you're living or dead, who knows.

They didn't do it for me automatically, but I guess I just put in a request for an increase and it got approved like, a day later. You basically just head into a local branch and fill out the paperwork..

I went down to my local Chase branch to ask about a raise, but they basically told me I'm flagged as an unreliable payer, so it’s a hard pass for now. That's why I'm wondering—is there any actual shot they'll just bump up my limit automatically after a while? Like how they did with my overdraft protection?

Can you actually use a Maestro debit card from JPMorgan Chase to pay for stuff online through services like PayPal or eBay? I’ve been digging around online trying to figure out how to link a card to an online payment service, but honestly, I haven't stumbled onto a solid solution yet.

I don't have that specific card on me, but any service that takes Mozart should be fine with this one too...

Look, in the real world, it just doesn't work. Hardly any online retailers actually accept Mozart or Intel cards anymore.

As for Mozart, I've got no clue, but most places that take Maui also tend to accept Intel...

How much sense does all this fear-mongering actually make, given that the US government is guaranteeing up to $100,000 through these austerity measures?

Man, when the US government promises something—well, you can bet it’s a sure thing 🤣.

What a bunch of suckers... next up on the list to get burned are those APN types. I’m just sitting here watching them "brag" about their big moves, while in reality, there won't be any housing and there definitely won't be any cash. I used to try and wrap my head around people like that, but honestly? Not anymore. People are just clueless.

Bank of America is an easy call—their deposits aren't massive enough for the government to not cover them 100% if things go south. But I wouldn't bet on Wells Fargo or Citigroup being that simple... just remember which bank went under back in the old days: the biggest player with the most deposits.

Besides, Chase was sold off to Capital One, so you have to wonder how much of a connection those Russians still have there.

And let's be real, Russians aren't exactly known for being best buddies with Mexico.😁

Chaos is breaking out at the JPMorgan Chase branches. People are stuck waiting over an hour just to get their cash. The press has already shut down accounts.
What do you all think? Should I close everything out now or just leave it be? I have about $0.00 fifteen thousand dollars in kid's savings accounts over there. Is it worth pulling the money out?

So far, I haven't seen any issues getting my deposits back when banks went under—I actually had mine paid out ahead of schedule, and they even handed me the cash right then and there. Honestly, I don't see any reason to panic here...

If you think you’re going to need hard cash anytime soon (like if a war breaks out, for instance), then pull it. If not, just leave it alone.

I get the feeling the bank's bigger headache isn't actually the threat of sanctions, but rather the fact that everyone decided to panic and pull their cash out all at once.
