Meetup ideas for Dr. Phil's forum members

Hey, don't go leading me too far astray here; I really need to make sure I can find my way back to Grand Central Station. 🤣

I was just checking the latest updates from the National Weather Service, and it looks like we’re in for a cloudy morning tomorrow with some occasional showers, followed by a mix of clouds and brief sunny spells in the afternoon. Personally, I’m quite happy with that forecast, provided we don't get hit by any massive downpours.

And what if it starts pouring? I guess we’ll just have to dance a rain dance instead.

What else can I say? Hmm. Honestly, I’ve got a ton of thoughts swirling around right now, but you know what? I think I'll save most of it for when we actually hang out tomorrow.

To be perfectly honest, I wouldn't call myself a brave soul, whether I'm posting on a message board or navigating my actual daily life.

My main concern is whether we’ll be expected to do those classic round-robin introductions where everyone stands up and says, "Hi, my name is this and I do that," because, if I'm being truthful, that is exactly what I dread most. I’ve never been much of a talker, and lately, my ability to string a coherent sentence together has been a bit of a disaster. 😢

So, here's the plan. Once we get settled in, I was thinking we could kick things off with something lighthearted—maybe some thoughts on the Ice Bucket Challenge or checking out that song by Happy? From there, we can just drift into all sorts of casual topics. It’ll feel like we’ve been hanging out for years, right? And honestly, it's pretty true, since everything you post here leaves a permanent mark.

Now I sound just like those old commercials for Fire Valley saying "We came to leave a Tragedy!"

I don't think anyone is going to force that. It’s entirely up to each of us whether we want to use our forum handles tomorrow or not—it really doesn't matter. There's zero pressure regarding that, or regarding how much you choose to share. Especially when it comes to personal stuff.
The Maystor and I will probably be the first ones there, since we live quite close to Central Park.

Last time, I didn't spend any energy worrying about what the three of us would discuss. Even if I had, I think I would have been surprised; for a group of three people meeting for the very first time, I think an outsider listening to our conversation would assume we've been friends for a long time. 🙂

I mean, if you were just looking in from the outside, you’d probably assume we’ve been friends for ages.

And honestly, spending all this time on a forum actually changes how you talk to people in person, too.

Honestly, I’d probably just hang out on the sidelines since I don't really know anyone here. Plus, I'm a bit of an introvert, so 😲. I mostly just lurk and read what you guys have to say. The only time I actually showed up to anything was at those meetups organized by the USA subforum—and even then, it was just once, and I brought my better half along. 😉

P.S. I wouldn't dare show up to a USA meetup... let's just say... from everything I've heard, you practically have to wear your username on your shirt... and I can already imagine the stares... "Oh, look, it's that person from Psychic"... "Let's move away... she might be contagious." I'm not trying to generalize, but I have a feeling that's exactly how it would go down. That said, I'm always down to hang out with my own kind!

First off, the noise! It was just constant, unrelenting racket. I could barely hear my own thoughts, let alone anyone else. How is anyone supposed to connect like that?

And those name tags pinned right over the heart 😁... I mean, seriously, who actually requested that? It certainly wasn't mandatory,

but still. You end up meeting a whole crowd of people without having the slightest clue who they are. What a mess... ☕

If we all dress the same way, won't it just make it obvious to everyone else that something is off?
