So, when does anyone actually need to deal with Medicare then? Is there ever a reason? Like, if you move or change your address or something? Or maybe when a baby is born?

It’s all automatic. Even supplemental coverage drops off once the "kid" hits 18... everything just flows through the system.👍

Legal Case 93/14

-employment status is suspended, not terminated ??
-the employer can de-register the employee, provided they don't sign contracts with other employers

What does that actually look like in practice??
For the employer, the easiest route is just to de-register them from Social Security and Medicare & Medicaid Services via a mutual separation agreement.
Then, if they ever show up again, just re-enroll them.☕

Man, Customs is seriously getting on my nerves... I had to download this new version because of some intrastate stuff, and now my signature won't even work on the e-NOAA site—it keeps throwing some weird error about keystore initiation or whatever. Wtf, why can't all our government services just play nice with the same settings? It’s like one works and the other doesn't.

I finally managed to fix it using a different laptop... but honestly, it drives me insane every single time since you have to run one specific update just for things to break everywhere else.

Anyone else dealt with this headache lately???

That little troublemaker, yeah, she's definitely a regular 🙂
whenever there's an upgrade to a nice savings account, a 401(k), or just about anything else 🙂
they really do get under my skin...

Anyone know how to cancel a filing on the e-pension portal? I accidentally registered an employee under the wrong employer, though I did send over the correct paperwork later. Do I actually need to call someone to fix this, or does it just update itself? Anyone dealt with this mess before?

I have some employees who are currently registered with the Social Security Administration under high school diploma qualifications, even though our internal restructuring has since upgraded those specific roles to require college degrees. I neglected to update their official records with the SSA, and quite a few years have slipped by since the change actually took place. I suppose I should wonder whether I am required to rectify this now, and if so, what effective date should I be using? Furthermore, I suspect there might be some sort of penalty from the IRS or the Department of Labor due to this delay. Has anyone here dealt with updating personnel data after such a significant lapse in time?

Your best course of action would be to reach out to them via phone or email first to explain the situation; they’ll tell you exactly how they want to handle it. We once had a similar oversight where we forgot to update an employee's status from "fixed-term" to "permanent" even though we had already amended their contract. It completely slipped our minds to notify Medicare and the SSA. Once we contacted them directly, they simply processed the update without any issues or penalties.

Could really use a little help here.
I’ve got someone I need to register with Medicare, but there's a bit of a catch—they live in a different city than where our office is located and where they actually work.
I'm just stuck on what to put in this specific section of the form:
4. Municipality of workplace/residence? Do I list their home address or the city where they're working?
thanks

Hey everyone, I could really use some advice here... So, we have this employee we weren't able to officially terminate for almost two months, right? Well, during that gap, this other employer went ahead and registered him with Social Security. First off, I have no clue how the SSA can just accept two full-time registrations at once. And second, now they’re refusing to process his deregistration because they claim those dual entries exist—basically telling us it's not their problem and there's nothing they can do about it?! Of course, we've been paying double the payroll taxes this whole time... Does this sound like a total circus to anyone else, or am I crazy? Is this just a massive clerical error on their end that they should be fixing?

Uh, easy fix... just process the termination effective yesterday and send the paperwork via certified mail. That should do the trick.

But how is he supposed to de-register if Medicare & Medicaid Services won't even process the request?

I honestly can't wrap my head around how they could even attempt to register an employee who was already on the books. That part is entirely on them, and frankly, their system shouldn't have allowed it to happen in the first place; I just don't understand the oversight... As for why you weren't able to serve the termination notice, there seems to be so much ambiguity surrounding the whole situation...

So, an employee's fixed-term contract is wrapping up, but they just signed on for a permanent role. Since they're under 30, we're looking at that payroll tax exemption.
I already updated everything through the Census Bureau Online using the M-3P form. Do I need to do the same thing with Medicare & Medicaid Services? I'm looking at the T1 form right now and honestly, I can't find anywhere to even log this change 🤔

From what I understand, you don't actually need to make any changes regarding your health insurance coverage, since they don't even require a copy of your employment contract; as far as they're concerned, it makes no difference whether you're on a temporary contract or a permanent one...

Thanks, I figured as much. On the T1, it just shows the main insurance categories—like if you're employed, unemployed, a dependent, and all that stuff... Actually, even better.
